@jacolbyredsox Individual dual call is you regular two tone pages. Long tone B is a single long tone to alert, often a single tone for the whole county or agency, to be used as an all call.
This is a good video on the HT/MT1000. I need to program my new Saber II ( H996A +061H and is a H44SAJ7139CN and is from 440-470.. but I have another that has a different setup.
I have put my boot disk in and have booted into the ht1000 program. When I hit F2 to read radio data it sais unsuccessful connection com port. I have heard it only does this if your using a later version of windows. Im using windows 98 loaded on hdd with win 98 boot disk to get into the dos prompt. My pc is a 1ghz 500 mb ddr1 ram single core cpu. I have checked my com ports in bios and everything appears to be working ok. The serial cable for the radio is new! Radio functions and works great.
@zinnad It will only recieve one frequency at a time. It can be setup to scan so when nothing is being recieved on your channel it scans the other channels.
@gadudey1 The software is no longer avalible from motorola, it was about $245 US when it was avalible, and no classes. (dont really see what that has to do with programming a radio)
is there a manual outhere explaining in detail the reasoning behind picking this option over the other and what each one do exactly? hovering over these menus is great but if you don't know what your are doing or for what purpose is kinda pointless. most videos on youtube are just people playing with different menus and call "programming"
Yes you can acquire the software, however it is frowned upon if you dont buy it from Motorola. Do not use VISTA for the purpose that newer computers process way to fast and will cause WAY to many errors when you try to send data to the radio! Get an old 50 buck IBM POS with win 95 on it from ebay. kc2vvj
@awesomertenorman Thats all fine and dandy, If it works for you, go for it, but I wouldnt want to be the one telling my public safety organization why their 11 radios become paperweights if something were to happen. I just like to play it safe. It take about 10 more secconds to get to dos than windows on my programming computer.
The HT1000s are narrow band compliant. It was just set to wide band thats why it was there. However only the 1000s with the model number ending in "DN" will do the new splinter channels
the software costs a whole lot! You can bootleg it off the web, but I dont recommend it! Do it legally if you really want it. Are you an Amature Radio Operator? Are you planning on TX or just RX with your radio? brad
How do I make my HT1000 sound off an alert when keying the mic BEFORE I transmit? Right now I just press and talk but my coworkers are too dumb to wait an extra second before talking, thus cutting off what they have to say.
You need to be in pure dos. There are several turotials on google of how to boot into dos. I would post a tutorial, but there are too many variables to make one video to cover them all.
@att2112 Yes, but if you dont have a knowledge of how these things work, you're better off not programming them yourselves. Im not trying to discourage you from doing it, but if you mess something up, you'd be better off buying a scanner that can be programmed from the keypad.

Michael, professional radios like the Motorola HT series are not supposed to be programmed by the final user. Even if it is not rocket science, you need one person to configure the base service (if any) and all the radios in a consistent configuration. That person should be an expert; you just can't configure each radio independently. Also, the only legal way to configure the radios is via Motorola software, for which you need to buy a license. Your department will either have an expert on site who has a valid copy of the software and the expertise to program your radio, or will employ the services of a Motorola dealer.
@awesomertenorman You may get away with it but I wouldnt recomend it. If the software is not ran in pure dos, you risk turning your fleet of radios into a fleet of paperweights.
I have some HT1000's getting programmed for MURS. I was going to have PL or DPS programmed. I don't need scanning. Any other features should I request? Was thinking hi/low power. Thanks!
Hi I'm trying to program a ht1000 and im having some trouble. The green light on the portable comes on when I read it then I get com port event error. Rip port communication unsuccessful. Then TSR background program interference. Temporary high/ noise/ traffic level. Does anyone know what this means. What does TSR stand for. Thanks
@raypsi I know that, almost all I use is linux. I just wouldnt run RSS in linux. RSS is very very tempremental over stupid stuff, and wouldnt want to risk bricking the radio.
Where can i get the softwear to program a HT1000 UFH radio. My church campus safety team used the vertex standard and now we have severla HT1000 radios that need to be programmed. Were do I get this soft wear to program these? Thanks Chuck
Are you using real DOS? If you try to use it from within windows it will not work. Also make sure you have the right com port set from within the setup menu of the RSS.
Good day. I am trying to program a few Motorola HT1000s. I have the software 03.03.00 and a "ribless" cable but keep getting errors when I try to execute F3 - Get/save/clone program code plug from/to/disk or F4- change view radio code plug. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
@faffaflunkie The software is avalible at businessonline.motorola.com. after making an account there, you will need to call them, agree to the licensing agreement, then ask to order the software. The cable, unless you have a broken speaker-mic laying around, would be cheeper to buy a ribless cable off ebay. I recomend the seller KAWAMALL
