90% of the HTC 10 reviews out there are so outdated and gives a wrong interpretation of the HTC 10 especially with camera quality. But after the updates the phone is near perfect and a second review should be considered. Excellent review by Pocketnow
HTC also made the first wireless handheld device, the first to feature a touch screen, facebook, RU-vid, GPS, 3G network, the first to feature hi-res microphones capable of capturing 256 times the sound of standard microphones. HTC was the first to feature iOS on front cameras, the first Android to feature apple airplay, the first to feature 1080p video recording on both front and rear camera, I mean HTC has taken the risks and contributed more to the smartphone Industry then anyone else.
who said htc not popular, why apple copy htc antenna design? metal body?...i don't want to be a marketing victim by the popular one. well, popular and quality is 2 different thing.
it looks like Apple. Really... Don't people realise apple took HTC'S design. I have nothing against company's basing on others design. They all do it yea. But give credit to the right company, HTC has the design since the m7.
I stopped watching, when he said the HTC One M9 has copied the design of iPhone 6. Wow, really? Ever seen HTC One M7? It came a year earlier than iPhone 6. Check your facts first.
Meshanth Dhas This was a rhetorical/sarcastic question. I think apple products are a perversion of what personal tech should be, and I prefer HTC to any other phone manufacturer (I have yet to have experience with the Google Pixel, but I believe HTC manufactured the hardware for that phone as well).
I love my HTC One A9. It essentially is the compromise between these two devices. Great audio, expandability and customization of Android from HTC and smaller form factor and overall aesthetic of an iPhone with an AMOLED screen to boot!
I used it for months and definitely loved my time with it. I felt that the battery capacity was a little on the anemic side and htc hasn't patched the US carrier a9s for QC 3.0 yet (first device to sup or it) the audio quality is exemplary and makes me want to put down my G5 when it comes to earbud /headphone playback.
I think the reason we go for iPhone is because of ios.. It has some limitation but the fluidity, efficency and optimisation is top notch. Some of us are so much invested into the ecosystem that why it's difficult . I own both ios and Android phone. (6s and note 3). But i like the simplicity of iPhone ios backup system, security, and overall ios experience. Android provide more user friendly and my note 3 (rooted with note 5 skins etc) specs still works amazing. Android has the flexibility of user control, and you have lots of freedom. But the apps made for it are not as quality as in ios. Sometimes after prolong usage, it feels you need to reformat your phone else it feels laggy. But photos organisation is best in Android. At the end, again, it's all about preferences of of the operating system... Specs wise of course android phones blows iPhone away.
While I agree with your comment, the note 3 is no where on par with the 6s in refinement... I think if you picked up a note 5 and used it for a week you'd never want to go back to the iPhone. I like iPhones, but I think there are a 4-5 phones out there that are better.
The thing is I was watching a review for tablets (by mkbhd) even with Google very own tablet, running the most authentic clean version of Android, to open the menus and slide down or other things can be slight sluggish and laggy. WHICH can be easily remedied by software adjustment and optimisation. But not all software developer of the respective brands willing to do this. Especially when they launch new phone, the update for previous devices (3-4 ex gen) seems non existence or lack of dedicated. Apple doesn't do this mistake. My ipad mini runs faster and so fluid with Ios 9. Of course it's tablet not a phone, but I can imagine iPhone 4s running quite fluid too. The way to solve this, if an android phone maker can really optimise the OS to suit their hardwares and keep the ex gens of their phones in line with updates, it will 100% blow apple and benefit us. Samsung is not the best rep, maybe lg and HTC does better job. But the same problem: updates, & optimisation remains.
Htc dident copy iPhone the antenna bands wher on the Htc m7 first thats when the iPhone 5 was out. So if anything the iPhone copied the Htc 7 design get your shit straight Jamie !
+Erving Garcia actually HTC and apple have a design share contract. that's why apple hasn't sued for the a9 and HTC didn't sue apple for copying the HTC One m7 with the iPhone 6. HTC also get to be the only Android you can fully transfer iOS from
The one thing I find completely pointless on the iPhone, is the fact that it can record in 4K yet barely has a 1080p display, so unless you have a 4K TV what's the point ? Atleast the m10 has a 2K display. People forget HTC has shaped the market to what it is today. HTC was the first to feature a 5MP front camera, All metal body, antenna bands, live photos, hi-res audio with powerful amp and DAC, dual front speakers, dual camera sensors, 1080p display, 4G Network, HTC was the first to Opt for lower resolution for larger pixels, all of which is found on most smart phones today... Not to mention HTC was the first phone with a touch response below 50ms with the m8, and HTC made the first smart phone ever... HTC has led the market into making better devices with better features after starting it all with the first smart phone.
First, the 6S doesn't have optical image stabilization - only the 6S Plus does. The 6S Plus also has a bigger battery and a higher resolution screen. And I don't know what pictures you were looking at, but every one of the 6S pictures was better except for the pub picture - talk about biased!
+rahat special can't wait to get my hands on my but I could have gotten it through Sprint or T-Mobile but I want to buy directly from HTC so they make the money
+rahat special cool I want an unlock version has well I am with Sprint (cdma) and i want gsm so when i travel out country i can just witches the SIM card
I love my iPhone 6S and probably won't be trading it in for anything other than an iPhone 7 Plus or an iPhone 6S Plus but the HTC 10 is the better phone in most situations. I had an M8 back when it first came out but the heat where I live and constantly having it in the car with me charging and using GPS fried the charging port and that was the end of my M8. I'm glad to see HTC is back and disrupting the stranglehold Shitsung has on the android world. HTC, Motorola, and the Nexus Line are the best android OEM's/Flagships.
+Dimas wilardi Can't agree. They are on an equal speed level . I sold the 6s because of Apple's limitations. I kept my S6Edge +. Better and bigger display, better cam, cooler design.
Anjan Pratapsingh Sorry buddy but I'm NEVER going back to Samsung. Their phones just have too much wrong with them to justify their exorbitant price tags. After a few months, any demanding tasks will lead to lag, overheating, app crashes, freezing, forced reboots, and stutters. Not to mention that all of their supposed "killer" features are hit or miss half the time. I owned an S6 Edge and left it for an iPhone. I've never been happier with a tech decision in my life. The fingerprint scanner on that thing worked only about 80% of the time which was a massive improvement over the 30% efficiency rate of the Note 4. The double press home button to launch camera also lagged most of the time and usually took about 7-12 seconds to actually open the camera. Playing games would overheat the damn thing. And I'm talking Subway Surfers and Sky Force not Asphalt 8, this phone should have been able to handle those with ease. The frequent lag on the power button was also maddening. I can't tell you how many times I pressed the power button and it would not turn on then 3 seconds later I'd press it again only to have the display suddenly register both presses and turn on and off very quickly. No. No way. Not again with Samsung. I don't care how much MKBHD, Techno Buffalo, Pocketnow, Android Authority, and everyone else wants to praise this current batch of Samsung flagships because that's what they were doing last year with the S6 and S6 Edge. Jeez you put something in a semi-pretty body and everyone overlooks the serious issues with these phones. HORRIFIC Performance. Horrific.
Oh Jaime, how you've grow. From a detestable iphone fanboy, to one of my favorite reviewers along with cap2phones and bagnel. Keep up the good work man. You are awesome
+Pocketnow You said something very wrong in the video at 1:22. The design is taken from the M7 more than the A9. And, if you just look at when the phones came out, the M7 came out BEFORE the iPhone design change. The iPhone design was inspired by the HTC M7 design. So HTC copied itself? lol... HTC didn't copy shit from the iPhone, especially not design language on the 10.
Firstly, a brief preface: I am really grateful for what you do, for the effort you attempt to put into your reviews, and device coverage, however.... Read on... Umm.... Actually the iPhone copied the HTC One, it was the first mobile device with a unibody aluminum chassis. I always get so damn frustrated about this crap, the HTC flagship devices have been fantastic for many years (In my opinion starting with the One X, which was my return to HTC after a hiatus following the HTC Hero, and the EVO, both excellent devices for their time, and I even did the *upgrade* to the One X+, which was also a great device), but if you look back at the progression of the HTC flagship phones, starting with the M7 (I believe that was the first to have the *modern* design cues), you will see that the iPhone quickly followed suit... So please, for crying out loud, can reviewers please, ***PLEASE*** stop saying that HTC copied the iPhone, it is not accurate. :-(
Ummm. You can download a different launcher and change the icon grid to whatever the hell you want on the 10 or any other Android phone so that was a ridiculous criticism.
+Pocketnow It should at least be worth a mention that android has the capacity to use different launchers though. especially given that people interested in making a purchasing decision between these two phones may not know that launchers exist.
there are people who doesn't even know the existence of android launchers and there are also people who loves to use their phone as it was with no 3rd party customization.. soo.. it is practical that they review the phone just as it is and if you want to customize it in ur own way, ur free to do so
Really??? If you are trying to say the HTC M7 mimics an iPhone 2G, I know you are just blind or being a troll. It's ridiculous that you would even suggest that. Now let me be specific. Apple copied the design of the HTC M7 not the other way around. The new iPhones look nothing like the old unibody iPhones. The HTC One line has had the same look since the M7. They are not copying anyone.
That is correct. HTC was a pioneer with a aluminum unibody design with those antenna lines and apple copied the design with the iPhone 6. People are either stupid ignorant or trolling and it is a shame to see that a channel like Pocketnow is not objective when it comes to these things..
+Jermaine Beckford nah but they're coping apple too. it looks too much like an iphone, but the htc m7 didn't. the iPhone did look a littke like the m7, but let's be real, that new phone clearly mimic'd the iphone
***** lol my htc one m8 its running marshmallow since 3 months ago, get your facts before saying shit. Best phone i ever had, and i have had 2 iphones before
***** Get your bitchass outta here, no one asked for your hate m8, you wouldn't make a better company anyways, so basically, the only one pathetic here is you.
This review just made me that much more excited for the new possible HTC Nexus phones! Though I have to say, if the Nexus phones don't live up to their name, I may have to pick up a HTC 10. That phone looks absolutely incredible
This is the first channel that mentions that the htc 10 camera is better. Did htc tweaked it after the patches? I remember a lot of people saying that htc 10 camera wasn't that good when it was announced...
HTC mimics the iPhone? more like iPhone 6 mimics the earlier HTC:s. i mean the iPhone 6 is not anything like the 5 but it looks kinda similiar to the HTC lines.
exactly They copied the m7 design and now that is to that, when ever some one uses HTC'S design, people say they took it from Apple. Hell they say the HTC 10 got it's design from Apple. like what the hell
Perhaps I misunderstood what you meant, but in my use, Touch ID does not require you to press the button. If I recall correctly, you said the same thing about the Note 5 too. Neither button requires a press. Just place your finger over the sensor.
+Jerry Palmerino Jr If you don't press the button, the phone doesn't turn on. It would be pointless to reach for the power button to do what the home button can do. So, two steps regardless. With capacitive buttons, there's no press required. One step. ^JR
+Pocketnow Agreed. I rewatched the video and realized that your screen was not on. However, Touch ID does not require a press when the screen is already on.
The HTC 10 isn't mimic the iPhone's 6 one. it's the iPhone that mimics the design of HTC. We just have to watch the past models. For the rest of the comparison, good job Jaime!!! Both are great devices and it's just a matter of which OS fits better with tastes.
I have had a Verizon htc 10 for about 2 weeks and this week I received an update that said it would improve the camera, improve the Wi-Fi and "fix some bugs". It's an awesome phone!
Jaime can you be honest with us and more importantly be honest with yourself and admit you'll always go back to your trusty iPhone. Hay que dejarnos de mamadas.
1:20 Correction, Apple is the one mimicking HTC, not the other way around. It doesn't take a genius to notice how the 10 is so similar to the HTC M7 from three years ago.
Nice Video Jaime! I have used Samsung S2, Note2, S4, MotoG 2nd phones in the past. I tried out the new Samsung s7 but got the Iphone 6s.I love Android and the open platform is just mind blowing.Being my first Apple product, the intial phase was complicated and it comes with the pain of Itunes. I always use to criticise Apple users and fan boys and use to boast about my phone specs like octa core chipset, 4000mah battery etc. I was so wrong. HTC or Samsung simply cannot match the quality of the iphone. Its the most reliable smartphone ever made. I know a lot of folks still using the iPhone 4. Can you say the same about Samsung or HTC?? My iphone never hanged or stuttered! HTC will stop working after a couple of months & after sales service is horrible.Samsung or HTC is like a use and throw device.Nexus 6p is a great device but once you use an iphone you can never go back to the cheap world of Android with their cheap overlays and customisations. Google should step up with their NEXUS!
oy You Fat Htc Users ! i am an Htc User as well PLEASE TELL ME IS THE 10 AS slippery as m8 :/// cuz the phone looks awesome and my Hands sweat allot so this is a hugee Problem for me
Who else left ANDROID because HTC M9 was such a flop that you lost all faith in them so went for an iphone 6s or 6splus.? I did and its the most boring unispired phone ive ever had to use. Everyone brags about how fast ios is and that it doesnt need 4 gb of ram to be as fast as android. Urm hello? IOS is such a basic simplisitc (boring) Operating system . Its like comparing CHROME OS to Windows 7/10.. No comparison.
+R3drift Yea but that's something you can't tell your mom, because she wouldn't understand. Apple's target is mainly people who either doesn't care about customisability or someone who just want a simple phone (like your mom, grandma or your sister). And that's it, simple phone. That's all the magic behind it. It doesn't require any experience to rock an iPhone... I mean Android doesn't as well, but there is just something more into it. As you said, they can't compare. One system is simple and does what you want. Where the other does all the things, that more experienced people want.
DBZ Series Bscly yea, or for people who just want a functioning, simple device. One button and they are good to go. I personally like the freedom of Android, I can freakin flash new kernel, overclock the cpu and completely change the system in it. That's something the second type of people don't want to do.
great video, I'm SO happy to see a video that isn't BIAS towards iPhone. One thing I do not agree with though is when you said the HTC looks like the iPhone. The similarities some more from the back where apple copied HTC's all metal body, antenna bands, rounded edges, and long slender shape for easier one handed use, along with even opting for a 5MP camera like htc, and live photos (similar to HTC's Zoe camera) all which come DIRECTLY from HTC ... the finger print scanner can be found on most phones now and was first seen on Motorola, as far as the bottom speaker other phones feature this as well and yet look nothing like the iPhone... So the main similarities like I said come from iPhone adopting HTC's design. HTC has had this design for years long before the iPhone. The only differences on the m10 from past phones, is the curved gorilla glass, finger print scanner and speaker placement, all of which are found on plenty of other phones and rather then being directly copied from the iPhone....
Literally the only reason iPhone is interesting to me is the pretty design and good hardware. The software is still in 2009 and Apple is clearly not interested in updating it
I don't agree with you on pretty design but that is completely subjective. where I can tell you you're wrong is saying the iPhone has great hardware. it does not
I'd agree that the HTC 10 is better then the iPhone, although.. Apple has better support/warranty and it won't let me down in 6 months time with its consistent software. My brother still has an iPhone 5 and its running latest iOS and feels buttery smooth.. The same era that HTC 7 came out, whilst my 8 is practically dead. My old HTC one M8 broke and it was a 4-6 week wait getting it replaced through HTC since they don't have any stores here like the Apple store, and then when I got my second one after about 6-12 months it seriously bogged down and gets really laggy and my battery SOT decreased by ALOT, I don't have time to constantly factory reset.. Those 2 are why I've decided to go for the iPhone, plus I use a Mac for my programming field and syncing the 2 is so well done by Apple. Syncing an android phone to natively share apps like texting through your laptop needs 3rd party tools and they cost money or the free ones that are available are totally garbage like AirDroid.. All in all, as an Apple user I can gladly admit the HTC 10 is better but for those reasons I stick with Apple.
+Mike S I wouldn't say HTC is better, but it is certainly on par with iPhone 6s as far as the practical aspect of hardware is concerned. Software is totally subjective. But, iPhone's longevity, Apple's hardware and software support, iPhone's unmatchable integration with other Apple devices and its ease of use make iPhone one of the hardest contenders to beat. As a mobile phone enthusiast, I have been noticing that iPhones are not necessarily better than the competitors each year, but iPhone beats them big time when you go a couple of years forward. People are still using iPhone 4s today, and it doesn't look as outdated as the other phones from 2011. One of my friends has an iPhone 5c and the other has a Samsung Galaxy S5. iPhone 5c comes with the same hardware as the iPhone 5 from 2012. It performs so much better than the Galaxy S5 from 2014. The camera launch, opening apps and playing games are much better on iPhone 5c. Even-though Android phones are great contemporarily, iPhones are better for long term usage. I switched from Galaxy S4 to an iPhone 5s and I think the difference was huge. iPhone 5s was still one of the fastest phones around until I upgraded to iPhone 6s last year.
Changiz K Baluch Well said, similar to my experience. My HTC one M8 was great in short, in the long it died off slowly.. Yeah I could probably factory reset it and wipe it to get it feeling new again but I'm not bothered and I shouldn't have too. Using my Mac to message others, check my calendar or my reminders from my iPhone is amazing.. The syncing is just flawless and works perfect. Also with the support from Apple and there stores, it was terrible waiting 6 weeks for my HTC to be replaced while I used a cheap $90 Lumia since I rely heavily on my phone. It's a breath of fresh air knowing if my iPhone 6sPlus I'm a 10 trip drive to shopping centre with the Apple Store and can get it replaced immediately.
Mike S exactly my thoughts. The reason I am stuck with Apple is because I have never been so satisfied using any other device before. Their customer support is the best I have ever experienced in any industry. I have exchanged my iPad and iPhone once each immediately without any questions asked for very very minimal problems. No where on earth would I have been able to exchange the devices at any other place with such small issues. Similarly, I bought an iPad Pro 9.7 the first day of release. After 17 days, I saw a cheaper deal available on Craigslist. I went to the Apple Store and asked them if could still return the iPad, they said yeah sure even though the return date was expired.
Apple wouldn't have a slump in sales if their phones were MUCH cheaper. I personally love apple but think there products are ALL over priced by a long shot.
I get your point but still they need to lower the prices on everything by at least 10 - 20%. If they had more competitive prices even more people would buy them.
I used to have the HTC one. Then Samsung S5, and note 4. Now I'm using 6s. There's something about the apple that makes the consumer loves it. I think I'll stick with the iPhone for a while. I am happy with it. 😊
Good comparison, though comparing a phone out 8 months prior to one just released is a little unfair. I think the Iphone 7 will be a better comparison in September-ish. As long as they don't dog the base model like they've done between the 6/s and Plus/S ranges... 2015 Was more about the S Plus for Apple than it was the 6S...
That was a great comparison video! Very balanced and showcased the pros and construction of each device in an unbiased manner. The 10 has the IPhone beat for sure, but it is a pity that it won't mean anything in sales.
ios just makes the iphone stand a fight with even much newer phones, and it wins, why? because of the app ecosystem, every app comes first, ;works and has far better design on ios, thats just something you cant disagree. unlease you are a geek, iphone is the best option
Jaime earned back my respect. He seemed biased when comparing the htc m8 to the 6. I got really pissed when he said that the 6 is more than just a bigger iphone 5s than basically said that they are the same. He made up for that with this video. Nice job with this video Jaime.
People will still buy iphones because its American. Many of Apple users i know dont even know its specifications, its just flashy to use. I will never become an iSheep
Santanna Guzman Sr. When im paying for $800 for a thing, at least i should know what it is. Yes many android users dont know what they are buyig but android is more affordable, it doesnt add up
I will never watch another video on this channel its clearly Android based and completely biased towards Apple its pretty obvious. I'm a neutral and I can tell. Your comparisons aren't fair.
The review was pretty fair. While he does shit on the iPhone, he only does so when it's completely true. He was neutral on the software differences, and even gave apple a compliment on iOS's superior memory management. The iPhone is just starting to fall behind 😕
+SlighceTUNES it's obvious that the htc 10 is the better device. I mean do you want him to praise the iPhone while it's obvious that it is behind the 10? this comparison is fair.. for me at least.
As much as I'm not an apple fan, every device out there is IP53 rated, they just don't announce it because it isn't brag worthy. IP53 basically allows the phone to not die every time it drizzles a bit outside.
+Justin Willms HTC is not advertising the IP53 as a feature but that was exec answer to a person asking if it has IPX-7. When you have a certified IPX3 it is a proof that your devices hits above all mimimum targets to get such certification, which not necessary the case for other device, of course it doesn't mean that other device are worst or better and just means that you know what you are getting. Also people are confused when it comes to these IP XX certifications they thing that they are cumulative, for example if you have IP X7 device it would mean that you have IP X5 or X3.
+Ewon Ford Poor blind. iPhone lacks of innovation and their phone are boring since the iPhone 5s. Even Android M OS is more stable than iOS 9 ha ha ha. Maybe apple have the best marketing, but they no longer produce the best product anymore. Just a garbage products with higher price and the support of iSheeps like you.
+Melbourne Dauz (xMelBurNx) I have no doubt the engineers at Apple could build a really good phone. The problem is they don't have any incentive to do it because they know there are people out there who will always buy what they produce, regardless of how unreliable it is.
I kinda like the HTC 10....but the last time I switched from iOS to android it was an failure...and I know there are differences between them I know but what makes the HTC 10 better then the iPhone 6s+??Advice maybe
It's funny how we still complain about the same design being retained for 2 years. If there no major problems with the design, I don't see a point in changing it. And if the company changes the already good design and the new one is not as good, you will again bash it for playing with something that was already so good. The design point in comparison makes no sense to me.
HTC phones have the best designs. Each phone model has it's own individual character unlike Samsung in which all phones look the same right from entry level to flagship. I really lived the yesteryear's moto phones. They were the must haves for their time. The Rokr and RAZR phones were just drop dead gorgeous.
The cost to repair a screen should be taken in consideration as well. Many people drop their devices and iPhones are generally a lot cheaper to fix. Not saying either one is better just adding another point of comparison.
I owned both Phones, there's something about the iPhone that Android in general doesn't get. But! HTC 10 is the second best Android around. htc is back! i hope buyer's will give it a chance. it's a very very good device! 😊
+Pupkin Pupkin it kinda just comes down to the different feel that comes from iOS and android, it's hard to convey over video and really it's up to the individual. I personally like both types of OS and like to switch around once in a while. :)
Great video Jaime! Apple has created a powerfully deceptive presence and as a savvy consumer it sickens myself to see so many people duped into blinding trusting a brand.
Just to be clear, the HTC One 10 out look design was based from HTC One M7, which was much prior to current iPhone 6 lfirst debut. If there were any copying going on, it was iPhone copying HTC, not vice versa.
I love my HTC 10, however I think the comparison is not fair given the 6s is a 2015 phone whereas the 10 is a 2016 phone. Wait until the iPhone 7 comes out for a more accurate comparison. I won't be giving up the 10 anytime soon though.
