WOW . I would like to congratulate you on making such a fantastic professionally narrated video. I understood every function you explained. I would say you would be a perfect professor. It's because of this review I am purchasing this charger. Thx
@@RCEscape I'm trying to stumble across any videos that explain why you should discharge a lipo. If you know, would you mind giving me a little synopsis
@@tactical_potato81 Personally, I’ve not had to discharge any batts since they never go into storage but either for storing them or maybe packing them up for travel so they are less volatile. :)
This was such a great Review, thank you. I just bought this charger and was looking for some information that is not covered in the manual. You explained everything very clearly
Excellent review. I have been using the same charger for about 5 months now. I ran into a problem whereby I ran my battery down too far and the charger does not want to charge it. From your video I learned about the cell balancing extra function. I am hoping this will solve my problem. Either way, I appreciate the great coverage you gave this unit.
I’m new to RC Cars and almost gave my car away because this charging stuff was way too complicated too me. YOU’RE instructions were SO simple but extremely informative. I really appreciate you taking the time to create such a valuable video THANKS!!!!!!!!!
This model has been recalled. I got a notification from Amazon requesting to stop using immediately and confirm destroy for a full refund. Recall states unit catches fire and causes batteries to ignite. 160 reported incidents with some injuries and property damage.
Thanks for the great video mate and all the information. I have just got back into RC and gone batteries instead of NITRO. First time buying a battery charger and this video helped me heaps. Keep up the great work.
Awesome, thank you! I still have this and use it everyday. One day, it started to give me errors that it didn't detect any voltage from the second bay and it drove me nuts trying to figure it out. Went into the settings and reset to defaults and it fixed the issue. Other than that, no other issues.
Great video. I just bought this charger and had a few questions that you answered. When using a car battery for the input power I found that the AC power switch must be in the off position even if nothing is plugged into the AC receptacle.
I wonder if the on/off switch is not an on/off switch, but for switching between ac and dc. If its 'off' it's looking to dc for power, if its 'on' it's looking to ac for power Btw hows the charger been since you bought it?
@@Zippytez works great. I can charge smart batteries with it also. I just put the smart battery info into the charger and the battery is charged properly.
Steve B B6 chargers are awesome!! I looked through all my old computer power supply cables and none of them fit the b6. I’ll use it for the field since the HTRC charger took its place on the charge table. I now can charge up more batts at the same time. 👍👍
@@RCEscape been using the traxxas for years but it’s limited to 4 cell .. thanks cause you got me out of my comfort zone . Looked at a lot of reviews yours better by far 👍✌️✌️
@@nofreerides7033 The thing that I didn't quite mention in the video is that when it is set to balance charge mode it will auto recognize the cell count so you don't have to do that as well :)
Whenever I try to discharge or storage charge lipo on right bank on this charger I get an error. Int temp cut off. This only happens on the right bank left works as it should. Any Intel as to why?
I want a dual charger only because I want less equipment to carry in the car.I charge my batteries at the field I fly at.I just want less stuff to carry to go to a 120vac outlet at the park.Right now I have the Q6 with the power supply and an old Venum charger with a built in power supply. Its just too much stuff to fly one plane for two 5 minutes flights
Have you guys noticed that if you use the discharge function on channel 1 that it errors out it a couple of minutes with the message "OVER Int. TEMP CUTOFF". This continues every couple of minutes requiring you to restart the process. This exact discharge function fully completes successfully on channel 2 with exactly the same parameters and cables. I am assuming that this is not the same as the Ext. TEMP CUTOFF that you can set in the user settings. I have tested this on a couple of these chargers with the same observations. Tried multiple experiments, e.g. with/without temperature probes, default External Temp Cutoff as well as adjusting this parameter. Using new or used LiPo's give the same errors. Again, it works fine on Channel 2 but not Channel 1. Just want to see if anyone else experiences this.
hi guys both batteries im trying to chareg a lipo and nicad are showing lower voltage , so what to do. ? are they salvageable ? thanks for t video very informative
@@RCEscape cracked it with the help of another video , i ran them both on NIMH charge for about 30mins and then switched them over to LIPO and NICAd and all good , thanks for your reply
I use this charger with a balance board. I have charged lipo batteries just fine, but just today, I had a new one start smoking and then burst into flames as soon as I plugged in the battery xt60 into the balance board. I didn't even get a chance to configure or begin the charging. After this happened, I charged another battery normally. Was there something I may have done or is this simply a bad battery?
@@RCEscape Thanks, I'm going to try to buy a replacement, but I'm quite nervous about lipos now. Do you have a specific sequence that you follow? Does this sound right: - Turn on charger - Connect balance board to charger, power then balance cables - Connect lipo XT60 cable - Connect lipo balance cable - Configure charger and begin charging When finished: - Disconnect battery's balance cables - Disconnect XT60 cables - Turn off charger
I know this is 2 years old but im having a weird issue I hope you could help with. When charging dc to dc my watt settings do not change fro AC 75/75. Its my understanding that it should change to 120/120 on DC. Any thoughts on this? Im using a 600 watt 60amp DC power supply.
sweet charger! i noticed no xt30 connector...but a mod shouldnt be a problem for those 2 and 3s lipos that has xt30 on them... i always have a modified computer boxfan blowing on the charger for xtra cooling... cant hurt it ya know lol!
Great review as always with lots of detail. This did leave me with a question for you. Which mode for charging do use and why, charge or balance charge? I've always chosen balance charge when available. Am I missing something?
Michael McCauley Thanks Mike!! You are doing it right. You should always balance charge your batteries if you have the time but if you are in a hurry, set it to fast balance charge although less accurate. But if you are in a super hurry, charge or fast charge your good batteries and then balance them and if you gotta get the heck out of town and you know your batteries are good, charging or fast charging is fine but balance charge them once you have more time. 👍👍
@@michael.mccauley I usually take my D6 Duo out to the field and charge up batts if it is a good windless day. I do sometimes use up more than 24 packs in one sitting :)
I bought this charger and so far so good. I do have a question though. When I do a storage charge it's only charging to 3.80, not 3.85. Is this something that I should be concerned about? I've looked through the settings and I can't seem to find a way to adjust that. Do you know if that's possible?
there is a user settings for the lipo charge and discharge termination voltage but none for the storage charge or discharge. mine stops at 3.83 even though the manual do indicate 3.85
Just got this charger today. After having it do a storage charge on 2- 3s lipos I checked the end voltage of the batteries with a volt meter and the one had been charged to 11.50 volts. Should be at 11.40. Do you see this happening with yours as well?
Hey bud I just bought this charger and Im kinda new to all of the charging lingo and I got these batteries for my rc boat so who do I set this charger for them? PowerHobby 3S / 3-Cell 11.1V 5200mah 50c Lipo Battery W EC5 Plug / Connector ( 2 Pack ) (EC5) Im really stupid about all this so help me out and talk to me as if Im a 5 year old kid to explain
I am new to RC electric, I just purchased this Lipo charger, I have EC5 lipo 4s batteries coming in 2 days, The connectors on the end looka different, Can i use this charger to charger EC5 batteries?
This does not come with ec5 connectors. Can it output the full 150W on channel 1 (With 0 on channel 2.) using the AC supply? 25.2V x 6A = 151.2W If not, the single charger would work better for my needs.
just ordered one of these on ebay...mainly for its ability to test the IR of my LiPos...can someone tell me if they have found this to be a very useful function.....thanks much
Any basic charger can charge batteries with ec5 connectors. You just need to have the conversion connectors. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U3wsIa08z1E.html
Hey by chance do you still have the battery charger and does it still work I just ordered one and I hope I didn't make a mistake I only fly micros my biggest battery is 1300 mah 4s but mainly 450 mah. 3s thanks for the feedback
This is a work horse for me!! It is still going strong and I use it every day and when it is set to balance charge, it automatically sets the voltage. Easiest charger I'm using at the moment and I use 5 different chargers!!
