I lived in Taiwan for 2 years, and I spent about 1/3 of that time in Hualien. This video brings back memories. Taiwan is one of my favorite places in the world
Yup! I too lived in Taiwan (The Most Beautiful) from '70 to '73 but mainly in Keelung and Kaohsiung but on my 2 weeks break I'll spend it either in Hualien or Tainan. After watching the vid, the wonderful memories became so alive, Taiwanese are definitely the most friendliest people.
Brings back a lot of memories for me as well when I was living in Taiwan from 1997 to 2002. I remember when my Taiwanese girlfriend dumped me I was going to ride my scooter all the way around Taiwan Island and I got as far as from Taipei to Keelung and realised it was just too far so I dumped my motor scooter and got on a train the rest of the way. 哈哈😄 Wonderful memories.
I liked Hualien and I would like to say it is a hidden gem of a country that itself is a hidden gem of the world :) Love and respect to Taiwan from India.
You remind me of fond memories I had having lived in Hualien for 2 years. Reminiscing the quiet nights in the hills overlooking the city sipping hot oolong tea with fresh water taken from a creek running nearby. Great people, lovely place and abundance of seafoods. I miss the place.
I loved every where I visited in Taiwan but I do agree Hualien is special and beautiful! I took the train from Juifen and had three nights there ! I wondered around the streets of the city got lost and visited the back streets and I got to see how people live! The musical garbage trucks where people come out of their houses to throw the bags of garbage straight in to the trucks, the little shops and food places we ate at! We even came across a funeral being held in the street !
lovely! i lived in taiwan from1982 to 1987 and have been to Hualian. beautful, reminds me of coastal Hawaii...epecially the black sand beaches and seaside cliffs,
I have been thinking about visiting Taiwan for some time. You have sold me on the place. I will certainly want to go to the East Coast & enjoy Hualien. It looks beautiful & relaxed. So far what I like about Taiwan is that it's safe & clean. Also the transportation system sounds amazing. In many ways it reminds me of Japan, in that everything is so orderly and the people considerate.
Beautiful rural Taiwan. Peaceful and tranquil. Sure like to spend some time there to de-stress and forget the problems of the world. Oh yes, most certainly one of the best travel documentary I've come across. Speaks with clarity, also complemented with pertinent information about the place he is visiting. Videography is fantastic!
Thank's a lot for your great work and nice video too👍 I visited 34 year's ago from the the north to the south by train that was a great experience to meet locals. I was with a train a step mountain traveling I feel like I am like at home (like Switzerland) I love it and I never would miss it too traveling to such beautiful country Taiwan 🇹🇼 please take care of your country to be independent 🗽and strong, good luck ☘️ Best regards from Asia 🐘🏝🐘🇨🇭
I'm not Asian the Taiwanese were very friendly to me even before I gave up my seat on the HSR to an older woman I was surprised at the nods and smiles I received
And I noticed because Taiwan has the coronavirus totally under control, You can travel around see great sights. Nobody wearing a mask there. Unfortunately in California we are in day 50 of lockdown. Severe restrictions imposed by Governor. Taiwan more free!
I stayed in Hualien for one week at a Buddhist monastery ,and took a bus tour of the country for one week. I miss Taiwan, the kind nuns that wake up at 3 am every day to serve humanity, the night markets in Taipei city,Taipei 101,sun moon lake.So much to see.Left my heart in Taiwan.God willing will go back to visit.Peace and love and Freedom to Taiwan.🙏🇺🇲❤️
Thank you. This is the first video of Taiwan that wasn’t solely based around the night markets/food that I’ve seen. We are moving to Taiwan, whenever this CCP virus is over, and have been looking for videos like these.

What an amazing view of the scenery road goiing inside de rocks. Congratulations for the beautiful video at an interesting area of Taiwan. Best regards from Florianopolis, Brazil.
I visit often as my wife is Taiwanese. I go once a year and have not seen everything. So many things to see, enjoy and experience. People are welcoming and friendly. Nature lovers would enjoy this
I used to live their as a kid, my dad was an engineer that helped build the substations in the mountains and its just a beautiful as I remember it. Really want to go back!
I enjoyed your video immensely...you pointed your camera towards the surrounding instead of towards yourself as some other RU-vidrs do, and you did your research about the place too. Please continue to send us more videos of similar nature.
I love this video even from a local Taiwanese perspective 😍, please come visit us more, the east side and the south are more natural to explore, love how you edited with your videos! I wish I can be your tour guide if you ever drop by to Asia in the future, consider to visit my hometown Yilan County! Love your videos 😍
It's definitely on my bucket list ,Hualien .What struck me apart from the beauty is how clean and neat the place is .All they need to do is shoot the next episode of TGOT and the place will be swamped .Better not - I like it better this way .And you said it's cheap too with all the seafood .What more do you want !
Your channel is my most favorite! Since last week I by chance discovered it, I have been watching one after the other, and so far I have watched ten videos. You have a very unique way of capturing things and explaining the incidents. Thank you so much.
Nice video. I love how green the place are. I went to Taiwan HuaLien and Taroko 2years ago and it was rainy almost everyday because of Philippines typhoon coming towards Taiwan. Landslide happened after my 2days visit. Some local said it was earthquake because I saw some hotels were damaged. Lucky my family were safe from the disaster as we stayed far from the scene.
Oh, I learned something new here - the movie "Silence" was shot here. (From the book of the same title by Shusaku Endo. A searing movie by Martin Scorsese starring Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Liam Neeson)
Walker H they are getting desperate and have fought online battles not only over Taiwan but in other Asian countries like Singapore and Thailand. Last month they got into a big fight with the Thais and also embedded spies into the Singapore establishment
Great Video..Been to Thailand (recommended) and plan to visit Taiwan soon. Although its not officially a stand alone "country", glad he mentions it as so at the end. : )
In this episode you mentioned you drove from Taipei to Hualien But then you also said that you couldn’t order anything because you can’t understand, I think that’s very brave of you it is not easy to drive in Taiwan With all the pedestrians Popping out between the cars good job
Hi! Hope you enjoy the video. The next one is going to be about Abu Dhabi, UAE! Thanks for watching. I am really surprised how popular Dubai video got! Wow!
Taiwan looks amazing in my opinion better than south korea, more natural beauty. South Korea looks nice but is too superficial. Really want to go to Taiwan now, thanks for sharing 👍👍
I find the architecture is not nice; with the exception of some few and far between temples. However the seaside, mountains, etc. are gorgeous and the air is some of the cleanest in Taiwan. The people are also wonderful.
