The obvious question is what is the USB for? Can I use to attach a printer? Or pendrive/disk? Is there a samba server? Or media server like in old B315?
How is the connection on the 618s? I live in an area with no cable. so the simcard is an important thing. But since no antenna... How is the connection?
@@eFones gotta make that future come real soon!!!! i want to buy a new router i have the 618, gotta see performance before i decide, and sofar you are the only one that did a 618/818 comparison, which is great, but you left out physical speed tests to showcase the new hardware, winch is the main selling point of a router....
@@waynedannler3417 I understand your point, speeds are subjective though. You could get a great speed in an area with good infrastructure and using a provider with good signal coverage or you could get poor quality internet in the middle of nowhere with little coverage and no infrastructure.
@@eFones thats why i say use the same sim card, and obviously at the same location. the other day i saw a review of the netgear m2 vs m1, same sim same location but speeds increased roughly 50%. so even if you get speed increases visually with the 818 over 618 then i know chances are good that i will too. but by going just with word of mouth that the new hardware will increase speeds are vague. 5% 20% 50%?
@@waynedannler3417 I completely understand where you are coming from, but it won't necessarily "increase speeds", it's completely dependant on what's achievable where you are. If you currently have a B618 and you get awful internet, chances are, you are not going to get much better with the B818. The differences are more based around the bands which are dependant on the support of that band by the network provider. But I will get a video on this arranged.
I think the B818-260 is 8x8 MIMO and the B818-263 is 4x4 MIMO? B818-260 does not support 2300Mhz. I have the B818-263 router. I think a fairer comparison would be to the B618-65d
I understand your point, we compared these two specific models as they were what we had to hand at the time. I will look at seeing if we can get hold of these different versions.
Ive been really happy with my 818, I want to have it sticking through a hole in my steel roof with a cover to get the -20dbm improvement I see outside, do you think sticking the modem halfway through the hole would be enough for full signal strength? Im asking because I need to make the cover before I make the hole :)
@@growjunkieradio Then you loose the extensive mimo abilities...antennas are expensive and cables need to be run and waterproofed. Also with this method I can add antennas later and have the modem and external antennas work together which has been proven to work.
@@eFones hey man! I'm currently considering buying a new router but can't decide which one should I get! The b818 or the b2368? Could I just buy an antenna for the b818 and it would me the same as the b2368? I don't feel like going through the trouble of installing it on my house, or is it such an improvement that it's worth it?
@@eFones Hey! What’s the difference between the B818-263 and B818-260? I don’t know which one to get. I currently have the B535, would it be a big improvement? I heard that it has 4x4 Mimo compared to the 2x2 MIMO on the B535. Does the 260 have 8x8 Mimo and would that be available for the normal consumers?
How can this be? If the 818 is more expensive and newer surely the 4g speed it can get or process is better? Also No 4g can do more than 150mb download so you are limited anyway, so does it matter if one is 600mps and the other even more?
