The air gestures are meant to be used when your finger are dirty and you dont want to touch your screen (for example when you are cooking and scrolling through a recipe). Also I find it quite usefull to scroll when my phone is in a stand on my desk and I dont want to reach over and touch it.
@@dxtnguyxn4179 im not a power user by any means, but coming to P40 from Samsung Note 9. P40 battery is insane, im currently on 37h since last charge with more than 6h SOT and still on 33% battery left.
Ordered my P40 Pro a few days ago. Here in UK we get some freebies inc Freebuds 3, Fast Wireless charger and a few other bits.Don't think I'll miss google too much as it'll give me a sense of freedom..you know like not putting your watch on and you get used to it !
@@samuelamoako3357 Go to this link and you'll see the P40 & P40 Pro. Click on the phone you wish to purchase and press buy. They do International delivery :-) Hope this helps
Superb job. Really informative instead of the usual dumb no Google no more info reviews. I love my P30 PRO here in the UK and will no doubt use it a while yet. I'm 50-50 about the Google thing as my tablet has all the apps.
cannot agree more, once our tablet or pad got the google apps, the google apps on our phone is not that important, however the google map is still essential...
I am going to buy it after launch in market. I will miss G apps for some time only and then I will become used too. My only problem with Huawei is this that they have priced their phones higher despite having a big handicap. Phones should be priced much lesser because of this G apps handicap. This handicap is not a small handicap for most people.
They don't have handicap ,buy phone and you will see! It is more talking than what truly is! I have Everything on this phone that I have before and i mean EVERYTHING!
The thing is that, prices are dropping pretty fast, and if not, huawei gives you some bundles to make up for it, for instance , yesterday i bought mine from huawei's official store, was on sale, $100 discount, free huawei y8s(with google services, so you can just easily copy all the apps) and 90% coupon discount for huawei freebuds 3, so basically i got this phone for less than an iphone 11 or oneplus 8, and those phones are the lower bracket of their own series.
Well, just bought my Huawei p40pro and it's really worth it.. I don't really care about the Google part as most apps are available through the browser.. One thing that did upset me though was that I didn't have the RU-vid app in which I was used to, but I found this app called RU-vid Vanced, which is basically RU-vid but with all its premium features (like playing in the background and removing ads) It also allowed me to connect to my Google account through the app which is delightful
The transportation apps and bank apps which I use most frequently are already on Huawei app gallery. The non-essential social media apps I could sideload or do without them.
I have this phone and it works amazing. I don't miss much from my Samsung. The only app I find harder to replace is RU-vid. But still I love this phone to bits.
It's enough to make me leave Google. You clearly don't need it. This just sounded like a video full of complaining. People want to complain about monopolies then say they need Google. It's bad that Google is a monopoly. I for one am glad that Huawei is doing their own thing. I was basically a Google ambassador. But after using a Huawei I refuse to give it up for Google especially when I can just use the browser. So, goodbye Google.
You can have Google on this phone,I have and work totally fine as any other app! But you are right,I'm on Huawei side to and hope that now when they have help from oppo, vivo, xiaomi and few more companies, they finish what they start!
@@supaahflyy That limitation may be true for you but certainly not for myself. I don't live for google as such and besides there is a very simple way to get the google app store on the phone without root.
Damn, that @ 3:43 , I have the IR sensor on my current Huawei Honor 10, oh boy, that very useful in cases I can't find my remote to a TV or im trying to control a tv from a friends house. I could basically control all appliances in our house with IR control, from Aircon to Components and Digital receivers which is awesome. This definitely is a plus for me :D....
Fantastic. Apparently you could use Aptoide instead as a replacement to GMS. Not sure if that makes it any better though. Thanks for the great review, stay safe!
Phone works totally normal and I install everything i have on my last phone! Don't let anyone lie to you that you can't install something on this phone even Google work! And last news is that they send request where they want this insanity to stop and start again to work with Huawei! Mine wish is even if Google get permission, that Huawei don't accept and continue to develop what they start! They are not alone and have help from oppo, vivo, xiaomi and few more big companies and i think that in couple years they can build something much better! At the end, this is simply an amazing phone , amazing !!!
Fabulous phone! This actually shows why it's the perfect time moving on past Google. GMS is copying the Apple model in terms of an ecosystem, which is everything wrong with technology. No single company should have monopoly over technology. I am definitely going for one of the Huawei P40 line.
Consider front camera for group photos, not just selfies. Then u will appreciate auto focus more. I regret having p30pro and not able to take group selfies or further away front camera snaps.
They can't right now. If they get an exception to the ban or it stops then they'll be able to. The question will be if Huawei will use them even after all this 🤷♂️
@@TheUnlockr I've heard one of the top develop guys at Huawei said they would still like to work with Google but ultimately if anyone can make a good alternative to Google Huawei can
No i got this brand this week and tried to use it with T-Mobile it wouldn't even connect to the internet data n even the text messages took a long time to send. I was so disappointed I got the phone Monday and returned it same day
Its probably worth mentioning that you can actually install Google Services and anything else, you just have to do it manually, while following guides from XDA-developers. If you're pro enough, you may even use google pay application for payment. Good thing is that you actually control which google services you install. BTW its legal to "hack" ur own device.
I use many Google services, that have to run natively, so no, I won't be messing with this type of phone no matter how great the camera is or how nice it looks. I need google backup, sync, pay, proper google maps, google home and assistant etc.
actually, google maps app does work fine as long as you don't sign in, who signs in anyway.. personally I use hotmail and only have gmal for the google stuff because they force you into that.
for everyone that need app for updates try to download aurora store from google its apk and good play store clone u have all updates and everything you need
🙏👍U & SaF -- Great Jobs with the reviews (From a former NYC Queens person born n raised ) I'm sold, I may pick up a P30 Pro with my P40 Pro Plus when they come out -(so I can hav the best of both worlds) thankx man..👍👍👍👍
i mean every one has 5-8 devices to use daily.. laptop , ipad , tablet, phone....why bother to have Gapps on Huawei?? Do you guys also want to install Google on your calculators?
Very nice walkthrough, although you try very hard to be unimpressed by everything this phone has to offer! I wonder what kind of smartphone paradise you live in. I ordered this phone in the middle of March (before this video was up), and paid about €600. It seems that the trade embargo has caused quite a price drop (albeit unofficial). This might influence the way people look at the inconveniences a de-googled phone might bring. But of course, if you must use Lyft right now, and it just would not start, then the price point will only matter so much. Also, if you are trying to go above 10x zoom, do not be a cheapo and get yourself a proper camera with a telephoto lens. Next thing you will try to take shots in the football field and complain the phone has no bursty shutter mode.
I tried and the old techniques don’t work any more. Google has gotten a lot stricter on even if you install the APK file it won’t connect to their servers. Let me know if you have a way that works to do this and I’d love to check it out.
The phone is nice, but ive had it for 2 days. I must have google services to be able to have some apps i need on my phone. If p40 was supported by google i would definitly keep the phone!
I am stuck with mate 30 pro...all has to go thru "APK PURE". and when you back it up on your whatsapp, and later shifting to another phone, it has no back up which includes another Huawei
I'm not sure if I got it right or not. Can you or can't you use MS related apps on this phone? As a college student during this pandemic my uni uses MSTeams. I'd like to get this phone but if I can't have that I'm not sure it would be too uselful for me 🤔
Probably not. These workaround videos require you to download something (which includes GMS) from non-official sources, and inject it to your P40. I'd rather not do that.
Honestly without google services its really hard to use.. Especially that i need it when im blogging..yess its a beast phone but how the apps.. App galery is not really us efficient..
does anyone know if there is a workaround for Google Pay on device as this would be my one and only deal breaker as to whether I buy the phone or not. TIA
There is a way to install ALL Google services and apps on this phone, once and for all. I am using my Huawei mate30pro and it took me about 20 minutes to install G service and apps. No need to root. You can search it on RU-vid I think. Something about restoring and backup on your computer I believe...
Provide a link because right now there is no new way to do this (you most likely did it when the mate 30 pro came out and for a brief period there was a way but it's been killed)
Just checked for you. If you used Google to sign in to it like I did when I signed up for it, it won't let me use that to sign in on the Huawei so can't use that account. If you used Facebook tho maybe it will let you?
