I do love Huawei phones, they really are awesome. I will go back to them if they ever sort out their issues with the USA and get google services back. For now I will enjoy my Fold 3
@@KaizerFaith What... Oh come on. Maybe next time then. Damn it. I literally bought One+ 9P instead because I thought the Fold had Exynos. My fault for not doing proper research. I hate this phone as well.
I had the P40 and loved it, just great hardware and fantastic camera. In the end the subpar software experience was limiting and their app store was really worse than useless. Keeping apps updated was always a challenge along with apps that needed location services
@@jpe09 I got it for a great deal at the time, honestly thought the camera would offset the GMS issue but it just didn't. Had fun making it all work, but that got boring in the end
@@stuofthepots Yup, currently stuck with this phone but planning to get Pixel 6 pro, only problem is it's not available in the Philippines so I don't know. I don't like Apple xiaomi is a bit underwhelming for me. What's your current phone? Have tried one plus?
@@jpe09 hey never tried One Plus but a bit more difficult to get where I live. I ended up going for an Oppo Find X3 Pro, it was on sale and came with their smartwatch. It's excellent, great camera and fantastic screen
Just picked one of these up on sale directly from Huawei U.K. for £699. At this price point I can confidently say that this is one of the best phones out there regardless of the lack of 5G and google play. Great build quality, seamless processing and excellent camera quality.
@@prostaezitis1351Huawei removed the phone (together with the offer) from the Huawei website. Just been gifted a pixel 7 pro though so currently looking at selling mine which is still in mint condition. Let me know if you're interested if you're uk based.
Your Really Such A Good Reviewer ... watching Here.. From Phillipines.. 😊 The Camera DESIGN IS SO LIT!! AND for me Its amazing a New Design To My eyes😅 again the wallpaper... in TAGALOG CALLED!! ASTIG...
@@nima9037 Yes, you can install the apps, but the notification and framework system is not there. It'll still be broken, rendering you unable to fully use those apps and other services. That is what really sucks.
After having a P30 Pro I absoluitely loved Huawei. But, I was put off when the whole Google mess happened and got an OPPO Find X2 Pro instead of a P40 Pro. I now have an OPPO Find X3 Pro and can't fault it. I am due another upgrade in April and will definitely consider this, but I think I'd miss having all my Google photos in 1 place
Google mess just didn't happen like some accident. It was Fake News Trump administration coming up with fake claims because Huawei was beating Apple and they did want to prevent that. It was a criminal act. Damned USA.
Same here. Still have my P30 PRO and had it since launch. The battery is still better than my new pixel although that's pretty decent. I was toyin with the oppo but had a great deal on the pixel 6 pro. 👍
Oh boy 😱😱.....This is absolute piece of gorgeous engeneering... Look at this phone 🔥🔥🔥.....why , why such tech masterpieces r not in volumes outside China or South East Asia for that matter.....if this masterpiece drops in my City , Delhi 😨 I would never buy an iphone ...it breaks my heart , Huawei isn't active among Indian Urban demography....WTF🔥🔥🔥
Watching on my p30 pro and it's the best phone I have had ever, camera, daily use and battery AMAZING!! still with Google services. But definitely looking forward to this p50 beautiful pro.
@@user-iy3cv3nj3c Dude you're randomly asking if you're depressed on a video to do with smartphones. Surely there are more suitable places to ask that question?
My old Huawei p30pro was the best phone I ever owned. Great camera and superb battery life. Now I have switched to the oneplus nord2 and I must say that p30pro was much better. Shame that p50pro doesn't have Google services i would buy it for sure
I'm still using my Huawei P20 Mate Pro which is currently running Android 12. Love the camera, it's still swift and barely a mark on the handset as it's always been in a flip case. The battery is gradually degrading so I'll need to find a replacement soon, hence stumbling upon this channel. Much as I'd love another Huawei, the lack of Google Services stops me. Following a glowing review of the Realme 9 Pro+ I think this will be my next device. Shame Apple and Samsung pressured the US to hit Huawei with the sanctions as they were feeling threatened by losing market share.
@@dk.650 I had my battery replaced by Huawei early this summer. I now get a full day on a single charge with around 30% remaining by bedtime. That with my phone connected to 4G and/or WiFi all day along with Bluetooth to my watch and earphones.
I’d love two cameras with a sensor as big as those circles. Initially I did thought those were two big cameras but disappointed to see 3 small cameras inside.
If I'm not wrong then it was supposed to be an 1 inch sensor, but then Sony got banned from trading with Huawei, and they have no choice but to put cameras in.
Just got my P50 Pro Huawei and love it. Huawei made it easy to transfer all data and apps from old phone to my new phone with Huawei's Phone Clone app. Also even Google suites is not pre-installed yet so easy to get those in my new Huawei. I love photography and Huawei's innovation in camera, sensor and software is just amazing. P50 Pro still the best for photography. I love my pics taken from this new Huawei P50 Pro.
Hi there! quick question, how's your battery Life so far I'm currently planning to buy the p50 pro coming from p40 pro but my biggest concern is the battery life. Thank you in advance!
Try to figure out your phone resolution and google any wallpapers you like that match the exact resolution of your phone and download. Works like a charm!
It's really awesome to see u still do an indepth review of Huawei device, most reviewers tend to do a shallow review of first impressions... I was beginning to think reviewer's were threatened to stop reviewing Huawei device or get banned as well
1100 euro, I would like some of whatever they are smoking. More expensive than both the iPhone 13 and nearly double the price of the Pixel 6 that will get updates direct from Google for 5 years
@@francivaliosi6550 yes, Kirin are made by contractors that depends on US manufacturing. So the US ban on Huawei is killing the brand in so many ways, not just GMS. I'm actually quite impressed how the brand keeps surviving despite the ban. I really miss using Huawei, had the pleasure of using it for years but I have tons of data stored on Google so I just have to switch to other brand in the meantime.
@@leewalker23 I see .... I probably now the answer to how they are surviving as they are trying to put the good old stuff into Honor phones if I'm correct as they have bought them but it is very sad they are not producing kirin chips anymore. They were really geat chips
@@francivaliosi6550 Sadly no, Huawei had already sold Honor back in 2020. Yeah, Huawei's phones were & are still great (some of the new release are really great despite the problems they're having). It's a Chinese Brand that's in a level of their own if you compare it to Xiaomi, BBK group brands (realme, vivo, oppo). Sure huawei phones cost extra at the same price range but it's always worth it & made for long term use.
@@leewalker23 I see thanks for the information.I used once 3- 4 years ago and about 1 year long i think it was the same year trump declared the ban to them .To be honest I loved the phone but I was afraid to with the stuff I heard and there was such bad press those times it was really bad. Anyways .I just hope they get a second chance or think something smart to get back as there were before as I see the market changed much over the years.
Beautiful phone and by far the best camera. My P30 PRO is the best phone I've had but the Google issue is a nightmare. Seen it on my friends mate 40. Yes you can sideload apps etc but it's essentially broken without the updates. This would have been my first choice but opted for the pixel 6 pro on a great deal with free pixel buds. More than happy. 👌
Such a cool phone and design, would love to buy it as it's different from other screen blocks, but 1200 $ is a bit costly, would love to have it for Around 800$
I am also using p30 pro and the camera itself is not outdated it cannot be, the camera system is still on pair even with today's flagships but the phone itself it outdated, it's software, 60hz refresh rate and no stereo speakers.. But battery life is still amazing and everything works just fine although i am considering to change it in the next months..unfortunately
Still using my P30 Pro and it's been a faithful friend! Never kept a phone so long and I'll struggle to part with it, but it's fast becoming outdated in terms of software, faults, bugs etc so will have to throw it in pretty soon.. Trouble is, there's nothing half decent out there to replace it with!!
@@dancampbell6415 What do you mean by an outdated software? Because they ask us to do software updates pretty often right? I also have an p30 pro since 2020 and I absolutely love it. P30 pro was also the first phone I used without buttons on screen. I thought that was pretty cool too.
@@keeks4914 I will take that comment back to a point as I've just had the EMUI 12 update for it and a security patch along with it. I think that'll be the last big update though as it's over 3 years old now.
its crazy how they somehow managed to blackmail Huawei like that. Because so far Huawei is literally the ONLY brand that no one had found any spying software, compared to Samsung and Apple that literally have bulletproof evidence of having a spying software inside of their phones. But tables are turning soon. Huawei have patented quantum chip's so soon the USA does not restrict china, but china restricts the USA
nice review as always.. superb looking phone , what a shame with this nonsense with the US restrictions.. no GMS, I would still consider this gorgeous looking phone with great specs.. hopefully the restrictions ease of soon and I can get my hands on a new Huewei
I am useing a 5 year old huawei and it is still going strong after i getting it through some tough jobs everyday. It is a lower middle class mobile in the line up the y9 from 2019
just got this phone the other day and it's battery life is fantastic! and it's just the right size! i had the s21 ultra before this, and it was uncomfortable to the hands due to its big size
I like Huawei Phones. I've had P9, P10 Plus, P20 Pro & P30 Pro. All superb phones. I like Google services so didn't get the P40 series sadly. I'm still hoping Huawei gets GMS licence back & I'll be straight back. I actually reckon that Huawei have had so much press in the last 2 years that if they managed to get GMS back their sales would dwarf Samsung, Pixel etc
Great review as always! Front camera quality looks bad, I guess that was the compromise. Also 4k 30fps or 60fps for video on the front camera? I'm assuming 30fps because it was not mentioned.
hi thx for review. I have the p50 pro dual sim with EMUI 12. I am able to use google drive, google sheets, doc and youtube perfectly so far. For youtube I have installed youtube vanced which is even better than authentic yt. You can use it with the screen off. For now the issue I have not solved yet is related to the back up of my whats app history from my old to this new p50 pro ... I'm still trying to figure it out. However all the rest look great even google maps works same way on this huawei p50.
I am late to the party and I am seriously considering this phone with the Xiaomi 12t pro. But the Huawei P50 Pro costs 50,- euro extra. I mainly want to use it as a camera phone for making photos outdoors (making use of zoom camera) and indoors. No need to game or anything. Is it worth the extra cash? What is your opinion, is it worth it?
I dont know, 1200 EUR starting price for a boring design, no Google services out of the box & lots of questions about what the future holds for Huawei. And no, you cant say 'just sideload Google apps' on a device with such a hefty price Cheers Chris, have a good weekend
Gutted this doesn't have gms wouldn't pay the price there asking without them happy with my p30 pro atm which can be picked up for bargain prices still think it's better than most current flagships
Did not visit the channel since Sony's XM4 review and did not notice changes before, very nice studio and great, straight to the point review as usually ! Well done. About phone, considering lack of Google, specs of the phones from beginning of 2021 price is just madness, better to wait on Galaxy S models which should be introduced in less than 2 weeks :)
My first smartphone was a Huawei and I still have that with me and it is a great phone for it's price. I'm currently using an iPhone X but if Huawei gonna put Google services on their Devices again I'm definitely Switching to Android with a flagship Huawei. And your cat's face is pretty funny and adorable.
@@thedrunkengardener9367 spying a person is not simply what you are doing. They collect data without your consent. That might be used anywhere..not only for promotional purposes
It makes me weird to see a Huawei with a Snapdragon 😞. It's like seeing an iPhone with a Mediatek processor from 3 - 4 years ago. When I think of what the Kirin 9000, which is already 2 years old, is capable of doing, I kind of imagine what it would have been like if Huawei had been able to continue its Kirin. On the other hand, I'm a little disappointed that Huawei has abandoned its 3D face unlock, and as I said 2 years ago with the P40 Pro / Mate 40 Pro, they should have centered the pill like Apple is apparently going to do on its future iPhones 14. Instead of seeing a pill bigger than the holes in the screen of Android smartphones, people would have seen a miniaturized and revolutionary Face-iD. But at least Huawei seems to have solved its photo-video colorimetry problems, but especially its video stabilization problem, that's the main reason why I stopped to use Huawei. The real big problem with this smartphone is its price, it costs more than an iPhone 13 Pro and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Huawei must accept that its status is no longer the same and review its pricing positioning otherwise it will be really complicated for them, the proof they have gone from number 1 in China (their home market where normally the absence of GMS should not be a problem) to not even in the top 5.
well said. Huawei really still thinks they're one of those brands that can charge well over $1000 for a phone, when in reality they're far from that. Huawei is delusional at this point.
I love Huawei phones. I've had 4 since 2018, the last being a P30 Pro.. Just had to change to the Pixel 6 though, as I can't do without Google services. I had the same issue in 2014 when I used a Blackberry Z10. Had to change to Sony as the app store didn't have what I needed. Look what happened to BlackBerry 😐
Wish the US/China spat would get sorted. Have a p40 pro and love it. Hacking GMS onto it is possible, but occasionally breaks due to updates and you have to faff again. Such great hardware, such a massive shame on the software functionality.
That cat is so handsome. Wally has always charged big money for premium, but it's A hard sell when they don't have Google access. Xiaomi screens better value for money but Huawei seems to make works of art when it comes to tech
i have p30 pro but since huawei have no Google i will go for google phone in my upgrade. such a shame there is no google as p30 was best phone i ever had.
