This is the greatest content that I have ever seen. Hope Huawei will have this texting and adding app function for their next up coming smartwatches :D
There are two things I wait to be integrated since years: responding to texts and Strava integration... None of them has happened so far, but I still keep the hope alive.
Great review as always. A couple questions does it has the calendar view feature as the samsung Galaxy watch 3. How you will compare it agains AMAZFIT gtr 2
Thanks mate! There is no calendar feature as the Galaxy watches. As for comparison - you may check this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LULsMnmowT8.html
Very helpful and entertaining review, as always, lovin' your content. I'm thinking to get my own example of this beauty, but i'm a bit concerned about the size, since i don' t have the largest wrist. May i ask what circumference your wrists have? Because it doesn' t look too big on you. Thanks, Michael
Hey Sal, thanks for the kind words. |The watch will work fine everywhere. Note that the app has certain limitation with iPhones - no access to watchfaces, etc.
Hello Mihail, thank you for your great and informative content. I'm almost decided to go with GT2 Pro, still hanging on a fence though because of Ticwatch Pro 3. :) Does any of these 2 watches have smart alarm feature, when you can set up a watch to wake you up few minutes before you set alarm if it "concludes" that you would be fresher then if it would wake you on a set alarm time. And in general, which sleep tracking you like better, GT2 Pro or Ticwatch Pro 3? Also, there are now rummors also about Huawei releasing Harmony OS soon on phones. What are your thoughts how it will reflect Huawei watches. Will Kirin A1 be able to support that possible new Harmony OS for smartwatches? Greetings from neighboring Serbia! :)
Heey mate, thanks for the post and the questions given. I can't tell you much about the alarm performance because it's something I rarely use and prefer not to share any opinion on something I am not confident about. As for sleep tracking - I tend to trust more to the Huawei ecosystem - they have put a lot of effort in it and the data in the app is much better. As for Harmony OS - I hope to be able to test it soon or later. SOunds interesting, but I doubt it will soon appear on the GT2 Pro. More likely Huawei will release a new device to promote it better.
@@TechMishka Thank you so much for the fast response and for addressing all my questions. I'm almost on board with GT2 Pro, my biggest concern is its HR monitor and all the bad feedback it got. It is now almost a routine feature with all smart watches so I hope it is only software issue that Huawei is working on. If it is sensor issue I don't know if they can do much more about it. Много поздрава из Србије! :) (I hope you understand this) :)
Most informative video about the GT2 pro !!! Is there any suggestion on how to voice record on it??? i am a journalist and it can be proven very useful at times....Merry Christmas to all
Hi Mihail I’m weighing up which one to buy out of the Huawei GT 2 pro, the Honor Magicwatch 2 and the Xiaomi Mi watch. Not too bothered about having microphone or music storage but an ok feature to have if available. Is the Huawei GT2 pro miles better than the other 2?
@@TechMishka Yes, I agree it`s very handy. Just afraid that Pro version become a bit heavier. Its one of the reason I didn`t like the first version of Samsung Galaxy Watch. Felt too heavy on the wrist. Never mind awful battery life.
@@TechMishka Why are you so concerned about wireless charging when the battery life on huawei devices is one of the key selling points - surely with the longevity their devices have , wireless charging is the least of your worries - for the Samsung watches i can 100% understand it though.
Yes, that is too much to ask! The list of drawbacks is pretty much all I care about in a smartwatch. Interestingly, I was going to comment that the band looks cheap in the first 3 minutes of the video, even before you said anything. I would not be able to stand it. The casing does look nice, however, I personally stay away from watches with the glass flush with the body. Too easy to scratch/break. For a normal watch it is okay (if it's sapphire), but not for a smartwatch with a screen.
Yeah, I thought at the start I don't like the band, but then I started to like it more and more and actually leather feels pretty nice. Too bad I couldn't test it in the summer when people get sweaty 🧐
I would have bought it by when you mentioned that you have no idea what app the messages come from got me thinking is it worth the price or should I look for an alternative???
i'm thinking the same, i'm looking for a new watch, i'm bit of a samsung consumer, gear s3, watch, active 2, the fit 2 for the sleep tracking, i like the new watch 3 design but i'm a bit tired of the same OS and the low battery, this huawei looks so beautifull, but the laggy OS (on videos looks like it or i am used to samsung smoothness)and that "no idea what app the messages come from" not a single icon.. i don't think i can jump to it.. i dunno xD
The part with the lags is not great. But I am used to it already. I still love the GT2 series and keeps on being my choice for a smartwatch. Although the Ticwatch Pro 3 lately gives me a lot of reasons to think twice.
@Tech4All How the GPS performs overall? GPS lock speed and GPS track accuracy urban area and into "the wild"? The Huawei Health let you export the track of a GPS activity?
@@TechMishka Thank you. That's why I have doubts on buying this watch, slow GPS connection and no data export. It's a shame for Huawey not having that kind of tool for exporting YOUR data.
I was planning to get GT2 , after your video i am sold for GT2 Pro, in my country price is 299$ at present, is it worth the money now? Or for 299$ there is better watch' available now? Pls advise me , peace ♥️
Right now GT2 (non-pro) can be found at dirt-cheap prices. Major differences are build quality and wireless charging. If 2x the price is worth it - then of course. I quite like the Pro because of the design.
The only differences between gt2 pro and gt2 is the fact that gt2 pro has titanium frame and sapphire display, but other than that it's the same as gt2. The GT 2 is half of the price, so be careful on what are you choosing.
For average normal usage huawei gt 2 pro its the way to go, i have gt2, and i get samsung watch 3, used 2 days ,and its for sale, samsung have more options that we don't need in a smartwatch. After i charge the watch 3 after 1 day, i was very disappointed, gt2 i forgot to charge, and doest mention that with dust watch 3 with time the ring stops working, and is always dust in the glass. Huawei is the best.
Great review, bit gushy at the start but to your credit you did balance it out with a clear list of drawbacks later. I am really on the fence on this one. Easily the best looking smartwatch but not sure I can live without Strava integration. Looks like GT2 Pro will get Harmony OS but it's not clear if that will finally give Huawei users Strava.
Looks great, great materials but for such a price I'd want more from the software I guess. I hope something huge will happen in the smartwatch market, we either get amazing watches with not smart enough and capable software, or sometimes really bad looking ones with not that good materials though pretty nice software, and the prices well, I still have hard time justifying them. But maybe it's me and I'm expecting too much? Probably some old movie about Mars that they had a pretty much fully capable flexible big screen on their hands :-) Honestly I'd love Zack to check this screen but I think smartwatches aren't his thing usually and I doubt he will stumble on this one, US doesn't really sell Huawei products now.
Sadly, you seem to be right about all that (especially the part with the Sapphire testing). Maybe the Ticwatch Pro 3 is some light in the tunnel. Let's see about it.
@@_AlexTheMonke_ yes, thats true. I even have the titanium version for 1100. But spotify, reply with some short messages and payments cannot justify that big price difference only. Also the samsung watch 3 has spotify and reply on messages.
@@janslop You can pay by NFC with GT2 Pro, atleast after the last update. And yeah those non existent replies are kinda a bummer on GT2´s. But overall they are pretty good smartwatches
Hello , the Huawei watch is the best watch to have I had a lot of experience with other watchers but when it’s come to moment of truth all you want is the durability and battery life Without considering the update that the watch can get with the harmony OS the watch it’s already a great deal 🤝 Thanks for the video good luck 👍
Dear Michael, I really like your reviews and was eagerly expecting the one for this watch but I'm kind of disappointed again by Huawei and their implementation of the notification system on non-Huawei phones. No, I'm not complaining about the lack of functionality to respond to notifications but rather the fact that the notifications are out of sync with the ones on the phone and I have to dismiss them manually on both devices separately. This is extremely annoying and is in fact not the intended behavior but rather a bug that's present on most/all non-Huawei/Honor phones ... or at least this is the conclusion we've reached with Huawei/Honor support an year ago when I had bought the Honor MagicWatch 2. I've tested it on OnePlus, Samsung, Sony, Xiaomi and all these were not able to dismiss/clear the notifications in both directions while if you use a Huawei or Honor phone the notifications are in sync - if you dismiss something on the phone you don't have to do it again on the watch and vice versa if you dismiss it on the watch it's also cleared from the phone. Sadly my guess is that this has something to do with the non-official support of the HMS Core and the Health app and we'll probably never get a solution. Do you have access to a Huawei or Honor phone and are you willing to test and confirm my conclusion?
Hey Dimitar, thanks for sharing all your thoughts! I very well understand your frustration and if you want the notifications to act otherwise - it makes perfect sense. I can confirm that on Oneplus, Xiaomi and Samsung the behavior is as you describe. Sadly, I have no EMUI based device here to try it out... Maybe you can ask Huawei's support about that.
@@TechMishka I did ask them and they are blaming the other manufacturers' phones for not working correctly. Typical support position. I did show them how it works just fine with my phone (OnePlus 7T) and my Xiaomi band but they still didn't accept it as a problem of their app/device. So I guess I'm out of luck and I have to wait for another manufacturer to make a (semi)smart watch that looks good and can last at least a week between recharges. :(
Just bought today gt2 pro as an advance xmas gift and yeah its an amazing watch! Sad thing, i cannot connect spotify music in my watch! any idea pls? thanks
Huawei GT 2 has google playstore, costs less gives more although neither will allow you to delete the options that you don't want. Samsung allows you to delete options not wanted or used.
Sorry for the brain freeze, I was thinking of my Huawei P20 cellphone when I included google playstore. I really wish I could eliminate everything and just keep the watch face, day, date and time. The rest shouldn't be so difficult to eliminate since you can turn them off.
Great review! This 'was' at the top of my shortlist , as I just love the look and durability of the titanium. My OG Huawei Watch looks similar but the silver/metal body and lugs scratch very easily, and I'm very careful. But sadly I'm disappointed you can't text from it and will probably be a deal breaker. The battery life is great but it only needs to last a day or 2 since I charge overnight anyway, so that's not a selling point for me. (Although it would be nice to know I could leave my charger at home if I leave home for over a week)
It is a beautiful looking watch and has great battery life, but is missing many features. I prefer to have 3 or 4 days battery life with the capabilities I need rather than 14 days and missing what I need. But that's just me. I'm not criticising it, far from it. I'm sure many people will be very happy with what this offers and it's Lite OS not Wear OS which is great.
Is the Moon Phase on the Watchface is a true Moon Phase, means it will continuously change the status from Full Moon to another Full Moon like classical Moon Phase Watch. I'm confused due to Huawei Website write this sentence: "More than that, the 8 types of moon phases such as new moon, full moon, first quarter moon"? It's like saying only showing 8 status of the moon?
Does it still crash in the middle of tracking activities. My GT can hardly completely track any activities. Always crashes after some time with complete data loss. Annoying!!
Though no full featured photo gallery, you can transfer as many photos as you wish from your phone album via NFC to the Gallery watch face which will cycle thru your photos as watch face with date and time indicator.
I hope they bring Celia soon to GT2 pro and may be some useful apps also otherwise its just a fancy watch without much features. As of now it doesn't support emojis forget about the replying the text and viewing the photo etc
Bought it at the weekend, what a great watch but gave it back the next day as there is no way to turn off the Bluetooth or there is no airplane mode. Don't want radiation on my hand 24/7
My watch, it turns off randomly, even during workouts, and with screen on set to 20, it powers off in less time. I rest it but that didn't work. What can I do?
@@TechMishka I can't use the warranty because the watch was purchased in a different country. I have to go to a different repair store. What do you think about that?
Even with just a week - it;s great. You may disable some of the battery intensive features - less notifications, less detection, HR tracking intervals, etc.
I have encountered some bug in the system, after i update the watch the installation process always stops at 26% unable to restart or turn on/off the phobe. Anyone who can help me ?
Great review, thank you. Worth doing a comparison with the oneplus watch. I looked at these and amazfit t-rex and casio dwp 1000.....just purchased the gtr Pro for £200. Really pleased with this watch because of battery life, sapphire glass (Bullet proof), I can control music as main requirements. Can't be doing with charging a watch up every night, for extra functions I probably won't use. Thanks again.
Another review that tells about the watch, but does not check how it actually works. How accurate is the pulse measurement, stress measurement, blood saturation, GPS. How the watch performs during sports, after all, Huawei touts them as sports and fitness devices.
Each one of these topics are shown and explained in the video. If I show comparisons side-by side with Oxymeter and HR monitor, someone will else will question the qualities of the comparison devices and so on. There's a section in the video showing the details about sports activities - and as stated - they are very accurate.
Alot of paid reviews unfortunately - Check out these review that tests the heart rate sensor on the watch fit (same sensor as gt2 pro i believe) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3OQ3jzVSkeM.html - The results are really good - maybe worth looking at the fit
While it's a nice watch be aware that when used with IOS it is very limited in a lot of ways, not least watch faces. Also the one I bought the other day( 20th Jan 2021) came with a rubber strap (quite nice but still rubber), no leather strap and certainly no spare strap in the box.
@@TechMishka Not sure, I bought it as a GT2 Pro and that's what the box says :-) Total UK price was £299 - they added nearly £50 tax which was not shown on the original site. It's a nice watch but so limited on IOS that it's just so so.....:-(
I will think about that... 😎🥳 Both of them are featuring here and there's a nice comparison chart at the end. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9oeNRG1mJjU.html
So had a good play around with the GT2 Pro and I gotta say some of these reviews are on crack or something. Its not worth the money at all! as I mentioned earlier its really just a glorified fitness tracker. I'm assuming most of the reviewers are paid or sponsors in some way or form which is why its not mentioned much but you are better of getting a fitness band if you want the fitness functionality or if you really need some form or 'smarts' then try a fitbit versa 2,3 or Samsung watches. Once the GT2 series gets 'smarter' then by all means its worth the money or if you can get it in a sale only. Huawei Watch Fit is a good device if you want basic tracking (and does 95% of what the GT2 pro does)
Hey Brian - all of what you say if we exclude a few major areas: - design and materials - battery endurance - wireless charging - speaker and microphone Yes, the GT2 Pro is a fitness tracker on steroids, but covering 95% of what most people would use. I am easily giving away options to download useless and unpolished apps in favor of 2-week battery life and something I can chjarge with my phone. For the record - this is my own purchase, just as it was with the GT2 and GT.
@@boredstudent2492 I got the Chinese version which is running harmony OS... there's only about 12 apps available atm tho, everything else seems to be the same as the one in the video
