I remember the first time I did this. I was so nervous that I was going to break my bike but I pulled it off. 😅 Since then, I do almost all of my bike maintenance and I’m not going back. 😌
Beautiful service. I love the detailed attention you give to each individual part. Would have loved to have seen the before / after spin.... I guess you can't experience the smoothness of the freshly serviced hub. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Damien! In terms of filming “smoothness” you wouldn’t believe how hard it is lol, without being there and feeling the bearings yourself the camera really doesn’t pick up the difference to show you
I worked on my bike recently and had it upside down. I had serviced (cleaned and regreased) the hub and was pleasently surprised when the wheel was still spinning after I put some stuff away. Definitely an uplifting experience :-) for filming, a stopwatch and a repeateable way of spinning the wheel would be doable - but that's just numbers then, don't know if it will be exciting.
Wow thank you for your video ! This is exactly the problem i have with two giant rear wheels, but when I see your video I know that for me it is not a 7minute job but a 7 hours.
Great video, outstanding. Some top lubrication tips especially. I like the way you Fast FWD throughout saving time and getting to the important stuff. Best maintenance vids by far( and i watch a lot of them).

I don't want to be 'that guy' but you should really use the basket with your ultrasonic cleaner if you care about it. Using without could damage or weaken the transducers in the long term. Great video. Nicely edited and to the point.

Hi. Hoping you can answer my question. Can you remove the freehub body without removing the axle? Can you simple pull it out after removing the cassette?
We filmed this one some time ago, I don’t remember the specific wheel. But the majority of wheels you would need to remove the axle. There are wheels where you don’t need to some of the Zipp wheels are like that. But it’s not that common
Neither of those questions I can answer really. The press I’ve had for years & the bearings are brought wholesale so I can’t provide a link for retail.
@@carlpeternoe6301 I use bearings with a good abec rating & depending on application or the customers budget will determine ceramic or stainless balls & even which seals (low friction or not)
Sorry MAX__Apex I can’t answer either of those questions it was a while ago we filmed this one, I can’t even remember the wheel now let alone any specifics from them! I think that would be a question best pointed to DT Swiss themselves
