I born and brought up in Hubli Dharwad, but I studied and got job in Mysore, the another dream city of Karnataka. I enjoyed my entire life in this city still I cannot forget my native place Hubli Dharwad city. It was my dream to study in Karnataka college, Dharwad. Due to mother's aspirations I went to Arsikere and later to Mysore. Studied and done dignified job and retired. My soul is always desire to be in Hubli Dharwad

Hubli is not just a city but an emotion for many people who live here and also for the people who stay away from the city but always want to spend their time here. It is a great place to do shopping. You will get variety in the standards of items here. It is an amazing place with distinguished people.

Hubli is growing, really Happy about this growth. But the people still have the same mentality as earlier. Splitting on road, not obeying traffic signal, no respect for customers, etc.

As a resident of Hubli, Hubli is called as chota Mumbai because the trade pattern is similar & even the shops & businesses are organized in a pattern which is Same as Mumbai. For eg- In the market side u get line of only saree shops then stationery shops, wholesale shops even in mumbai same thing is followed.!!

My tenure of stay in Hubali is from 1942 to 1962. I was just seven months old when my parents shifted from Savarde -Kudchade (Goa)to Hubali.My father Shri Narayan Srinivas Kapadi,was one among popular and responsible Staff of Railway Office.We were staying in Railway Quarters just near Railway station and Railway work shop. I studied in Marathi medium school no 2and1,till sixth standard and thereafter till S.S.C in the New English School in old Hubli.I joined Kadsiddheshwar college of Arts till inter and completed graduation in Karnatak college Dharwad. I very much enjoyed cinemas in the seven theatres viz,Rupam,Chandrakala, Sudarshan, Ganesh, Deccan,Mohan and Mallikarjun.Our school trips were mostly at Unacal. Neharu Ground opposite Lamington high school was known for play ground and gathering of political parties.Apartfrom this,I enjoyed Circus, nonstop cycling for seven days conducted by a person,. A Swamiji buried him self for four days without food and water on the same ground. I visited along with my father and thereafter independently the market places, fish and mutton markets. I enjoyed readings at Saraswati Vidya Mandir library and I distinctly remember Rambhau Joshi,the librarian and ofcourse Shri Gokhale master of News papers agency near Durgad bail. I remember enjoying Binaca Geet mala song on every Wednesday evening standing opposite popular Hotel near Vijay sweet meat mart. Dr Pachlag and Dr Watve were our family docs. I left Hubali with tearful eyes after my graduation. After retirement Baba and all family members left Dear Dear Hubali and went back to Savarde-Kudchade Goa. I love Hubali forever. As of now I have visited many times Hubali to meet my schoolmates. Hubali is part and parcel of my life.

My father worked in Hubli, Railway work shop. 1949 - 1982 , when he retired. I was brought up by my maternal grand mother at Chennai. Every year i used to visit Hubli during my Summer holidays. My father was given a quarters in sergeant road. My father used to take me to Durgad bail market, to buy vegetables . Those days tongas were used for local transport. There were theatres named, Rupam, Sudarshan, Ganesh, Deccan etc. I used to watch kannada movies those days. Rajkumar was famous hero then. Only few buses only operating. Avalakhi and jola rotti with badnekai subji and peanuts chitney were local dishes available. One old Siva temple located opposite to the railway station. Those days were dreamy days. I love hubli. One more last but not least information is, that doodh pedas were the sweets we gobble like any thing. Some times my father, goes to Dharwar for duty, he used bring the famis Thakkur Misra pedas from there. I love Hubli. I am settled at Chennai.

Last nov 1 ivisited Hubballi Railway station good experience inmy journey, one day full enjoyment there most happiness very very happy

I spent my childhood at hubli between 1960to 64.Then our family shifted to Trichy, Tamilnadu. I was 9yrs when we left. What a beautiful city then.Even at this age of 65 years My heart longs to see M T S colony where we lived. Wonderful city then.

Hubli is also called as vidyanagari Because of numerous schools, colleges and universities like krishi Vishwa vidyalaya, karnataka institute of medical science (Kim's) which is 2 top medical college in karnataka after bmc, bvb and kle for engineering, 2nd kendriya vidyalaya, and private colleges like Vidya niketan, chethna, prerna, etc and many more which always score top in state pu board and many more
