Ah! Maybe I'm normal after all! Everybody I know thinks I'm loopy because I keep a photo catalogue of all the cars I've owned (1966 - 2018). Thanks for another great vid, Ian.
Me too, got a hard drive with individually named folders for all the cars I've owned and the adventures we've been on. Nowhere near as many as Ian (probably still less than a dozen) but all of them were great in their own way and a big part of life at the time. I have 3 cars sitting outside (on a driveway with room for just 1...thanks neighbours for giving up some space) and this video makes me feel pretty normal afterall ;) My car catalogue is '05-18' I like that Mr. Nut had had many a Citroen in his life. One of my fav manufacturers. I've never owned one myself but both a long time ex girlfriend had an AX we bought together which we took all over the country and never missed a beat. Sister had one as her first car too which she says was her favourite car, her second being the £250 Toyota I bought for her 2 Christmas' ago after a lot of misfortune which has barely needed to be touched to this day. This year we both learned how to service it and do various things on it ourselves thanks to these channels on RU-vid and a desire to finally learn some mechanical stuff myself.
I have not, I have a _really_ good memory, and never saw the need, but... its not so easy to share them, that said, I will be having a think on my own list
Wow, that was such an enjoyable look into Hubnuts life. He has owned so many beautiful cars. I fall in love with my cars too much to sell them so quickly. My favorites of his fleet would probably be the Tobacco leaf P6, the Renault 21(brown), Audi 100(dull but loved) and the Citroen CX wagon(is that super rare? don't see many wagons). I think the funniest photo was the Volvo wagon where Hubnut is looking down covering his face because he's so pissed off at that car. HEHE. Great video.
Ian, you are so Lucky to have been sensible enough to photograph your cars. I have been through many, many cars over 35 years driving but have very few photos of them. Nice video, I enjoyed that!
I want most of those cars that are on your list, especially the 16 valve BX. Father's boss had a diesel BX without the rev limiter. Blew past my dad doing 90 on the motorway home.
It's funny how you can bond with a car that has character (serious design flaws) but a car that is technologically perfect, starts first time, and does everything like it is supposed to is bat shit boring and you can't wait to sell it on. Might explain why after years of electronic wizardry common rail diesels with more computers than Skylab, I've gone back to a series 2A Land Rover and loving every moment. The doc. is reviewing my meds.
I had one of these as well , very smart with alloy wheels, cheap to run , comfortable but made my hands tingle with the engine vibration on the steering wheel.

Man youve had a proper mix of cars over the years! Always drawn back to the French motors tho. Your Audi.. had the 100 as well, the one before yours. Wasnt great to be honest but the 5 cylinder warble was lovely, partly why ive got my 850 t5 now. That old yellow one you didnt like looked like an old Herald.
Great thanks for sharing, Some great memories, My first car in 1996 was a ‘86 Scimitar SS1 1600cc Best car I ever owned, sadly missed Reg C360 KMW Long life Queen Elly
(No you're not an "idiot"),,,,,,,,,, I agree with Howard Le Vert ,,,,,,,,,,,,, Only 3.25 mins in and it's a very relaxing video to watch. Wow,,,,,, times does seem to go quick though !!!!!!!!

"... not a fast car", no, the DB W123 Diesel really wasn't , ... in Germany it was called: "Wanderdüne", ("wandering dune"), because of its top speed and "acceleration" ... 🙂

Great entertainment! I have gone through a range of such cars myself from Bubblecars to Prius and enjoyed most of them wishing i was rich enough to keep rather than trade in! I expect the excellent Toyota Yaris Hybrid I now run will be my last car.
Great Video Of Your Cars Ian! Always Great To See A Passionate Car Enthusiasts Cars! Many Memories There. I Should Have Kept A Full Photo Record Of My 36+ Cars!
I just don't get the love for the 2CV. I consider the one I drove to be by far the worst car I've ever driven, and I've driven some real rubbish, from a Wartburg 2 stroke to a Reliant Kitten with only one cylinder working.
what a nice vehicle history :) I started my driving career being 7 or 8 years old an a Eicher tractor and a W114 200D. Later on I got some pratice in my dad's Passat B1 and when I had my drivers license I was forced to drive his Peugeot 305 as I couldn't afford a own car. I hated that thing... My first own one was a Golf II, what a surprise for a German. After crashing that it was followed by a Mazda 626 GD which I drove quite some years as it didn't make any problems at all. Then I bought an Alfa Romeo 75, this car wasn't that problem-free... So I bought another 626 GD, a 16V with 4 wheel steering which turned out to be a rust bucket. I was offered a BMW E34 535 then. I couldn't resist and didn't regret. A Van ran a red light and wrecked it. So I drove a W124 200D automatic of a great uncle who gave up driving until a cousin managed to crash it because he was going too fast... I bought a Volvo 945 Turbo then, had it for 10 years and traded it for a better one last year. I'm absolutely happy with that and the fact I have a Yaris Hybird as a company car since a few days ago ;)
Hi Hubnut I'll always be a fan now I know you are an ex BX owner. Doesn't really fit the channel though because the BX was a fantastic car and I'll argue with anyone who challenges that. But crikey you swopped two BX's for two really REALLY TERRIBLE cars. But hey you should see my vehicle history for mistakes (I gave away an MI16).
Really enjoyed this! Citroen BX was a classic - I had a 1.9 diesel in 1991and loved it. The turbo diesel version was plenty quick. I agree with you regarding the Isuzu Trooper. I had the Vauxhall version (Monterey) and it was dreadful with endless starting problems and yes, the gear ratios were hopeless. I got rid of it within a few weeks. Not a patch on the Discovery.
Wow! Thought I'd had a wide variety of cars over the years, but you put me to shame! Particularly love ed the Citroen H and Bedford CF vans for some peculiar reason. I share your love of Citroens. BX's x6, Xantias, Picasso, ZX Volcane diesel, and still have my very early AX GT mk1 on an E plate. Excellent review there Ian
The white BX Estate is identical to the one we had when I were a wee lad, same engine, identical wheel trims, only ours was a slightly earlier G-plate, G53 PGJ, scrapped a long time ago unfortunately due to a catastrophic hydraulic failure caused by lack of maintenance because Freeborn Citroen were shit. Took it to Bordeaux every summer from 1991 to 1998, supremely comfortable on poor French country roads. For some reason, despite it being very common in France, there were often French people staring at it because it was British-registered & Right Hand Drive. It appeared as if they couldn't believe that Citroens were sold to the arch-enemy across the sea ;) Unique car, the BX. Rust In Peace.
Just a quick side from Australia , the Bedford van was fitted with the Holden (red motor) six cylinder engine. I'm not certain of the capacity, I could be corrected a 202 cu or 179 cu inch.
So glad this popped up again! Enjoyed watching it once more. Some nice cars at never to be repeated prices. Made me think back to my past rigs and wish I took more photos. If you see this, how about doing a photographic review of all the cars that you’ve had since the start of HubNut channel? It would be a good catch up for all the new subscribers and would also encourage some more views on the older videos as folk seek them out. 👍🏻
my car history is terrible......Triumph Toledo (back doors would fly open going round corners, speedo was very optimistic), Vauxhall Viva - truly AWFUL headlights and the back end would be in front of you at the merest hint of a wet surface on a roundabout, plus it just bloody would not start if it had rained......Fiat Strada - bought it off my dad and then watched it rust away almost in front of my eyes, Fiat Uno 1.0 - actually a bloody good little car, Peugeot 205 diesel followed by a Vauxhall Astra diesel, then a Peugeot 306 turbo diesel - crackin engine and very economical but the electrics had a mind of their own, Fiat Tipo (why did I buy that bloody car??), Kia Sedona diesel for the family - I won't have a bad word said about that vehicle - 11 yrs of ownership, took the family to the south of france 5 yrs in a row - it NEVER broke down and in all the time I had it the only thing that ever went wrong was a wheel bearing and alternator (both in the last yr of owning it), now driving a diesel Suzy Swift - not a bad car - it has the fiat panda diesel engine in it and handles well. Next car will not be a diesel though as I no longer do the mileage following a change of job.
Lovely trip down motor memory lane, @Hubnut you are a brave man changing cars so often, the Rover 3500 to Isuzu was a big surprise !! Of my cars the Peugeot 205 Junior 1.8 diesel is one car I would have liked to keep if I had a barn! Might even buy a 2CV one day, they have character which is rare in modern cars.
Janey mack Ian, you certainly went through some vehicles, lucky you.Agree about the twin carb honda.I had a hand-me-down one plus accords. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-66gKWsXpQUs.html
Wow , where did that 14 minheerutes go? I think there was some subliminal trance stuff happening there :-) The only thing not clear was when the fetish for pantograph wipers developed, or is that still to come and should we bring gum boots? Cheers mate, most enjoyable video Ray
Not many people have commented on the 21. I remember hiring one in France in the year 2000 and thinking it was a really impressive car: felt solid, fast and a nice ride. I think it was a 2.0 TS or TX 4 door variant. I still remember it now so it must have been good. I liked the way the instrument panel had a sort of canopy over it. There's a lot to be said for the 90s Renault. Much better than the tat they're producing now.
Awesome video I used to change my cars every few weeks as one of my friends was a car dealer when me and my dad counted them up it came to over 100, Some of my favourites were the Lancia beta, Rover P6 and for fun had to be the Escort MK 1 which me and my dad rebuilt from a bare restored shell into a Mexico replica.
i bought my first road vehicle at 15, before i had a license. it was a couple of 50's chevy trucks right out of my uncle's cow pasture for $15. i made one of the two, drove it around one summer, and sold it to a neighbor for $150 to get a 1969 amc javelin, the first in a string of muscle cars i drove until i got too many speeding tickets.
Loved this video,I my self have has over 30 cars, since passing my test at 17 So wish I had taken photos of all of them and done some kind of montage to them, How ever I can remember every single number plate
Never mind the joy of sex oh the joy of picnic tables. Great stuff I have photo's of all my 35 plus cars from 1977 apart from the first one. This sort of thing can't be done with the upcoming generations as they will only have electric cars with no soul.
This video was strangely relaxing. I may have to do one on my cars at somepoint - probably churned through about 12 over the course of only 8 years of adulthood. Can't seem to stay with one car for very long.
Thank you VERY much, that vid triggered vast numbers of memories I thought I'd forgotten, & at 84 I've forgotten a lot. Been a petrol/diesel head since schooldays, drew car designs in my exercise books instead of listening. Straight from Technical school into the motor trade, one of last National service, into REME, worked on Centurion tanks, wish I'd written a book but was a grease Monkey (from Hartlepool) not a pen pusher. Specialised on fault finding & usually fixing. Sold BMW's, & Merc service agent
funny enough after watching parts 1 & 2 I think the only car I would of liked to drive would be the Westminster as the others I grew up with. From the 70s onwards with the odd exception I would not care if I never saw them again.
You do this thing that Brits and Yanks do---totally ignore the dots over some vowels in Swedish . They form extra letters of their alphabet. The name you say as Vasterass is pronounced more like Vesteroas and means something like West River.
Great history and so many... rather interesting cars! But at the end , the 2cv was the only one who really won your heart (apart from Mrs Hubnut of course 😉😉).
Hi Ian! For some reason I did miss this slide show. Great! It reminds me a little bit of my car adventures when I was quite younger... (not so many cars!)
Interesting history,H Van,only wish we could see you driving that in your videos.Reminds me of the old saying;"If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride".Good Job!
1. BMW 20 CSI 1973 (crashed after 1 month) 2. Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV 1974 (crashed after 3 weeks) 3. Peugeot 504 D 1971 (ran out of money to crash nice cars) 4. Ford Granada Coupe 3.0 1975 (learned how to drive then, so didn't crash her) 5. Saab 96 V4 1969 (needed money so sold the Ford; unexpected good little cheap car) 6. Lada 1100 estate 1978 (being married with young kids, no money) 7. Simca 1308 1980 (thought I had a decent motor again, but DISASTER) 8. Skoda 120 LS 1981 (another disaster) 9. Renault 4 TL 1982 (old magazine delivery vehicle, but not really bad) 10. Toyota Carina DXII 1983 (given to us by uncle, when hearing I was studying for ministry) 11. Volvo 340 1980 (lost Toyota by a stupid accident and in need of ANY wheels) 12. Opel Kadett 18S 1982 (only a bit better than the crappy Volvo, but did the job) 13. Peugeot 305 S 1985 (firts parish & first decent car in years) 14. Citroen Xantia 2.0 1991 (loved it and so did the wife) 15. Citroen Xantia 3.0 V6 1995 (faithfull sermonmobile for 4 years) 16. Mercedes 220 D 1969 (classic; ''parked'' against a tree, wife fell asleep behind the wheel) 17. Citroen Xantia 2.0 1998 ( sermonmobile 2.) 18. Saab 93 2.0 S 1999 (good 2nd hand Xantia's became rare, remembered Saab) 19. Saab 95 2.0 Turbo 2004 (diagnosed with MS; needed automatic; great car! 7 years) 20. Saab 95 2.3 Turbo Aero (last purchase,; brilliant drive, but gashog, worse than 1st Xantia)
@@kimkiriniki9433 This list is far from impressive, but actually very sad, considering I wrecked 2 real fine thouroughbreds (BMW 30, not 20, CSI and Alfa 2000 GTV) within 7 weeks as a stupid 19 yr old kid, who thought he could drive. Nowadays and in the same condition they would have been worth a fortune. :(
i can remember my dad having an old Austin Allegro, white with a black stripe down the side. and he had no end of problems with it at the time..and then it ended up in the junk yard.
Love that first red 2cv Your 2cv collection was amazing Glad to find out you also had a Peugeot I like Peugeot I have a Peugeot love the mini I want a mini yours was absolutely stunning aww sad to see the mini go would you get another mini ?
Must be cheap (or at least affordable) to own several cars at once. Not in my country unfortunately, one expensive car is cheaper to own (once you bought it) than several cheap ones.
