📢📢💥💥 One of the guys down in the comments noted that the camera was out of focus and needed to be manually refocused. Well, he was 100% correct!! I turned the lens to the right about a quarter turn and it improved the quality of the camera tremendously! I don't know if they all ship like that, but now mine produces clear and fairly sharp video. I may do a follow-up video showing the difference if the weather cooperates.
Great review brother, I can vouch for this drone.. It's a winner for sure.. Still one of my fave go to small brushed gps quadcopter.. 1st big like Gadget😀👍
As you said it's been reviewed a million times before but it is good to revisit older models and yes it was the 1st small brushed gps drone to the market.. Happy thanksgiving also brother
Happy Thanksgiving brother! It's a great little bird and you just can't beat $55 for GPS. You'll be at 1,000 subs pretty soon; keep at it and always have fun. Thanks for stopping by bro.
Gadget Inspector thanks so much, I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasnt for the Lord and awesome guys like yourself. Your great videos inspired and helped me so much. Cheers and thank you.
Thanks for your excellent vid dude! The Hubsan X4 H502E. I had my doubts, love GPS but hated the blurry films the Hubsan X4 H502E produced in your film. Doubts, doubts. Until I saw in the comments that the camera was just out of focus and with a quarter twist it did what it supposed to do. And yes, I bought it. 5 minutes ago. Ok, it is not a Mavic Pro but who cares. I can’t wait to fly around with this bird.
Hi there! Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad the video helped. I think this is a good drone especially for the price. There are some toy grade quads out there that cost more but provide less. The video quality was a bummer for me initially, but I was able to carefully adjust that camera. Hopefully yours doesn't come out of focus, but if it does you can fix it. Starting with a $50-60 bird vs. buying a $1000 one is good wisdom. Thanks again for watching and commenting and I hope you enjoy the new drone.
I have this h502e lastweek...and my first flight today... and it is very very EXCELLENT FOR ME Bro...thanks for the review...guaranteed this drone for your money...you feel the flying like a high in drones...thanks brother..
I would like to comment again,I bought one,My first drone and i love it!It's fun and great for a first timer,Your review helped me with my decision.Thank you!!
Gadget inspector style is the best style!! Someone is doing a giveaway with this quad! So i thought i would look at a review! Funny thing is i thought it was not that small too!!! GREAT REVIEW 👍👍👍 Wow these props spin opposite then most quads! I see about a lot of people doing that with there props. I think it keeps the props from flinging stuff onto the camera!! I could be wrong! Like always great job man!! G.p.s. is new to me! Nice 1st landing!
Nice review bro, my quad did the same thing, dropped from about 40 meters but luckily it landed flat and on grass, but stuffed the camera in the process. Have now attached a 808 on it and still flies well.
Good review, and a terrific low cost quad. I'm really tempted to buy a second one with that discount code. The battery indicator on mine seems to show that the battery is down to one bar at five minutes or so, but It can go to ten minutes before the battery low indicator lights start flashing on the quad. The camera is pretty good too as long as you're not filming directly into the sun.
Thank you sir. I hadn't noticed that, but I'll definitely pay attention to how long after the battery reaches one bar the lights start to flash. Thanks for watching and commenting.
This a great quad for the money. I just ordered a second one because I like it so much. My first one only lasted 100 flights before the gps module went out of whack. Also had to replace a couple of motors which was a pain. Range is at least 300 m out and 150 m high. Add a light AIO FPV camera for even more fun.
Gadget Inspector Sorry I didn’t help you out. I ordered it for $49.99 a couple of days ago using a Black Friday $10.00 off coupon. $55.00 is a great price and your subscribers should jump on it. Maybe they can use the $10.00 off coupon code as well?
Find the Hubsan X4 H502E Desire here: www.gearbest.com/rc-quadcopters/pp_330809.html?lkid=12023630. 💥➡Get it for only $55 using COUPON CODE: HubsanX412.
Great Video! New watcher and subscriber! I going to get the newer one that can do waypoints a little more expensive but I want to check it out! Thanks Rich
Welcome, welcome, welcome! Glad to have a new friend to the channel. Can't say I blame you about looking at the new one. I have it for review but haven't been able to fly it very much due to the sub-zero temperatures. It flies pretty much the same as the original, but the wifi feed and camera quality is much better. Hopefully I can get that review posted soon.
Happy Thanksgiving! I actually never got the Xiro for review. I would have loved to have reviewed that one. Looks like a pretty decent budget GPS drone.
Happy Thanksgiving...AAAAAahhhhhhhhh I C u finally got that Hubsan lol that's the same quad I had in my bike the day I met u lol lol lol I'm glad u like it and Happy Flying
Mike Skinner Ok, I was wondering if it had bushings or bearings. Definitely a good idea to put bearings on to prolong the life of the motors as well. Where did you get yours?
Banggood. I think your drone is the same batch as mine. I got mine a month ago. I had to sand the props down to get them spinning ok. I lose my pics too but I love this drone. I let my wife fly it this morning.
Since it's to cold and snowy out I flew it inside the house, I had a heck of a time getting compass 1 to calibrate compass 2 went ok, I did pick up 8 satellites I took it up, and it would not hold position it was very very unstable , do you think that is from being inside?
Im still loving this drone! I was wondering since i never flew a drone with a screen would it be a good move to buy the Hubsan H216A X4 Pro to get use to a screen and get use to controls of a screen even if it's my phone? It looks like a fun drone! Thanks for all your help and reviews!!
Hey there. I try to stay away from saying which drone to buy, but I did review that one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CvzWqlDW6pg.html. I think it's a really good quad and if you like the original, they made a lot of improvements on it with the new one. I giveaway a lot of my drones, but I'm keeping the H216A X4 Pro. And.....it's under $100.
Drones weighing .55 pounds or more have to be registered. I don't think this one is more that that. You actually only have to register with the FAA once (you're essentially registering yourself not the drone unless you are a commercial drone pilot) if you have any drones over that .55 pound threshold. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
Even for the camera being out of focus the video quality still seems pretty decent. Did you do any extra editing for it or did the video come straight from the quad?
Nope, no extra editing. I actually opened the front of the quad up and rotated the camera lens clockwise about a quarter turn and it got rid of that blur. So the camera quality is a hundred times better now. Nice and clear now. I have another quad that is similar to this and I will include some video from the Hubsan in that review so you'll see how much better it is now.
Nice Review, Gearbest could have sent you something a little more current seeing the production quality of your video's. I see them sending people shit to review who make terrible video's with crap video and audio quality. Your an ace in my book. Iv'e had this quad for a long time and it's a good flyer.
Haha...thanks, I'm trying to get more of the new stuff for sure. I was ok with getting this one because of the price point. Can't beat $55. Thanks for the support as always my friend. Almost turkey time!
My one gripe about this and the 501 are the video. it seems to have this green tint to it. the little hubsan x4 camera pro has a much better camera than this one.
Hope so too. I have purchased quite a few quadcopters and on the very rare occasion I get a defective one. Doesn't happen very often but sucks when it does.
Now that is an amazing quad for the price with GPS. I am new to quads and only got cheap ones as keep crashing, but with GPS I assume this is near on impossible unless battery dies. If my flight not going well do I just release controls and GPS makes it stay where it is until I get closer to it to start again, or even just release controls, then push return to home?
Yep, if you get nervous you can just let go of the sticks and the quad will just hover in place. Engage the RTH and it will come back to you. That's the beauty of having GPS in a little drone like this.
Love this quadcopter ! When filming the quad in the air, you look at the quad and the controller repetitively and it is distracting to us viewers. And kinda makes ya dizzy. Just a observation. Good job on the review as always.
Sorry about that; I'll keep that in mind in future vids. I usually try to put the video feed up as the main view, but I lost the video. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
Great video! As always, Have you had any problem's with the motors going bad? I read allot of reviews (on amazon) that it is a main problem for this quad.
Hey Gary. I haven't had any problems, but due to the snowy sub-zero weather here I haven't exactly been flying it much. With that said, I have quads that folks have had similar problems with (premature burnout) but I have not had the same problem. There are things you can do to preserve and prolong the life of brushed geared motor quads like this. 1) Never take off or land in dirt or sand. If you do, make sure to clear the gears before taking off. 2) Never fly immediately after a full length flight. It's best to let those motors cool down first. 3) If you crash, immediately kill the motors. If not, the props will continue to spin and whatever is obstructing them will likely strip the gears and/or burnout the motors. Nevertheless, if you don't want to deal with brushed motors, I recommend going with something a bit more expensive that has brushless motors. Much more durable, but not as cheap.
I've had problems with the motors. Replaced a few. Installed new shafts and bearings with "upgraded ball type". I am not sure if that was an upgrade. Has never flown without problems since. Oh yeah, installed new gears too. Some of this stuff came from Hubsan and some was aftermarket. My first few flights were great and I really like this drone so....I ordered another one yesterday. Found it for 58.95. The first one was about 120.00. Will try to fix old one but if can't, will use it for parts.
I just received my h502e today when I first opened the box their was instructions on the flap on how to orient the prop onto the flat on the spindle. There is a line on the prop itself,(very hard to see) that you just match it to the flat on the spindle, goes right on.Funny thing is, to tighten all the props on mine they all went clockwise I tried counter on the A props and the screws would not start into the thread. Maybe they changed things I don't no, another thing I did was magnetize the end of the phillips head they sent to hold on to the small prop screws. Can't wait to fly it! One question, before you do the compass calibration do you have to put the throttle stick to the lowest right corner and the elevator stick center, and move it left and right until calib compass 1 displays on the LCD? Do you have to do this on each start up?
Yep, that sounds right with the compass calibration (haven't flown it in a while due to horrible weather). It's a similar process for the gyro calibration. I don't think this one requires you to do the calibration everytime, but if memory serves me, there were times when it would initiate it automatically when I powered up the quad. For all of my GPS birds I only calibrate when I go to a new location. My Bugs 2W requires a calibration everytime but I think its the only one like that. That's weird about the props; I believe I added what I had to do to the video.
I have had mine for a year (still flys). The motors are VERY delicate, even with letting the motors cooling down, and such even the slightest resistance in the gears and burn out the motors fast! Would I buy it again, not at the price point I paid, when it first came out. I hope they upgraded the motors, from my version.
I've heard about the motors. I'll see how it goes, but I'm thinking about installing some bearings. We'll see. A lot of quads not as good are going for more than this one with the coupon, so great deal and a darn good quad.
Hey Gadget, how you are making out with this drone? I am on my 3rd motor in just 10 flights. Hubsan needs to do something with this motor issue. I love this drone, but man, I can't afford to fly it! Let me know. Thanks
Hey Gary. I haven't had any trouble out of the motors, but I have heard of guys having them burn out. 3 motors in 10 flights is definitely a big problem. My X5C still has its original motors. I have only had brushed motors burn out on me with one quad; it was a micro fpv racer but it was my fault because I just kept flying it back to back to back. Granted, I don't usually fly everyday, so that's a factor as well. You should contact customer service for wherever you bought it from. 3 failures in 10 flights is definitely atypical.
Hey...I have one, but the video quality is absolutely HORRIBLE. Is there a way to adjust video quality settings ?? Mine looks like 270 p....so I don't even bother using it.
A lot of those were shipped with the lens out of focus. I had to carefully rotate the lens, record, check the video, and repeat that process until I got it as clear as I could. If memory serves, it only shoots in 720p. If you do try this be very careful as you can damage the drone.
Check the description box and the pinned comment at the top for product links. There is also a coupon code to get it for the $55 if it is still working. They should ship to South Africa from their China warehouse.
Not certain if I missed it in your video. Is the X4 H502E capable of FPV? Reason I ask is I just purchased a Firefly Q6 4K action camera from Gearbest. Now I’m looking for a cheap FPV (small size for stuffing into a book bag) that would be capable of hauling it. Probably will need brushless motors for the power. But the H502E would be perfect since it has GPS
Gadget Inspector You know, you are THE best reviewer on RU-vid! I think I just might be able to strap the Firefly Q6 to this. I’m trying to build that poor mans 4K. I wish this had brushless...grrr! What I’m attempting to do is build something that is Spark sized under $150. I already have the Q6 thanks to Banggood or Gearbest (can’t remember), it should get to me in a month...but the point is a poor mans 4K. Yes, I can buy a Mavic Pro, but this is for those who can’t afford one.
I don't know if this is something I should be concerned about or not but on my new H502E (never flown) I have 3 props that if I spin by hand they are quiet I do not hear any gear chatter but on one of the props I do, would that be an issue?
Oh I'm not sure about that one, but the only real way to tell is by firing up the motors. Don't think I've ever considered that. Mine all sound about the same but they are much quieter when you spin the props in the direction corresponding to the motors, i.e. clockwise/counter-clockwise. Maybe do a quick test flight to put your mind at ease?
I did fire it up in the house the only thing I did notice is that one of the props shuts off faster then the others on shut down, that is not the prop I got the gear chatter from.
I had this and I miss it... I killed it when I replaced a transmission shaft and then crashed... but I’m thinking of getting another one.. I already have a modded remote and like 8 batteries haha
Nope, it's under 250 grams. But to just clarify...you don't have to register every drone; you only have to register once, so you are essentially registering yourself as a recreational pilot. So, if you have any drones over 250 grams you should be registered.
Great tip and now that you mention it, the video is definitely blurry and out of focus! Really big mistake by Hubsan. I'll tinker with it a bit and see if I can get it in focus.
I just did this and it has improved the camera tremendously! It actually looks 720p now and clear. Thanks for the tip; I wouldn't have thought of it otherwise.
@@ConstantineGu I fixed my camera by carefully turning it until it was in focus. It took a few times of turning and watching the videos to get it right but it worked. Do a search on RU-vid for H502E camera fix and you should find at least one video on it.
Awesome video, helped me a lot! I've been looking for a low investment drone with gps, this helps solidify my choices. I really enjoyed watching this video, I'm definitely giving you a sub! O - H !!!
First of all, thanks for the sub. I really appreciate that! Can't really beat this for the price. It is one of the first budget friendly drones with GPS. I hope you enjoy it. I - O!! 😉
Nice review we'll put together ... seriously having owned this quad don't buy one the motors are geared and the teeth sheer off if you take of even in long grass the motors will get grit in-between the teeth and performance will suffer it's very delicate basically if you treat it like flying wine glass you will be fine the GPS is good however cameras ok and even mild crashes it's dead there just not very good hubsan have just released the x4 storm and without the fpv Google's and screen you get a full carbon fiber frame a nice transmitter and it's seriously quick and has a great camera for the same price it's not GPS but it's one of the better quads I've owned period my desire was rendered unable to fly after 3 flights for no apparent reason and it's thin the plastic is very thin I really wasn't impressed with it no help from hubsan either glad the shop was understanding as it was returned in 3 days replaced and my second one suffered the same issue I cannot remember the name off the top of my head but on Amazon there is a mini DJI phantom looking thing and it has GPS my friends got one little gimbal the lot and it's 10 pounds cheeper than this the desire is like a Christmas cracker toy in comparison ..edit and by mild crashes I mean slightly hard landings from 3 ish feet
Yeah, I've heard both good and bad from guys about this one. You do have to be careful with any bird with geared motors like this and crashes without immediately stopping the motors can do them in quickly. I recommend getting one of those vinyl launch pads to keep the bird from landing in crap that can clog the gears up. So far its working just fine for me. Otherwise, spend the extra dough and get something with brushless motors. So many great options out there.
Yessir. I really like this little thing. I'll probably use this as a trainer for my wife and daughter. I've been trying to get them into flying; this one will be easy for them to learn some basics at least.
I am so sorry about that. I try to keep how much I'm looking up and down in mind, but sometimes I get caught up in concentrating on flying. Didn't want to make anyone sick.
