Another HUGE advantage of that hook is it virtually completely eliminates fouling. For night fishing this means you likely won't have to fuss with your fly at all. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to be fishing at night, especially in rough weather with a fly that is constantly snagging and fouling on itself.

wow, that's a long "eye" shank! I like it. I've been tying on the "Decoy Dreamhook 15" from Japan. Try tying in a rabbit zonker, and rigging it like a soft plastic. Or 2mm foam. Tight lines.

you can use a gamagatsu to tie has a shorter shank just requires a little more skill to get the material on but its doable if you cant find the hook
