Great review , both palettes look beautiful and the tips you give to make the revolution work is excellent for those who can’t afford the Huda x thank you lovely xx
Excellent review. To look at you, I would never know that you used two different palettes. Your eyelids almost perfectly match one another. But, I could see where the Huda e/s seemed to apply a little more easily and vibrantly, but for everyone on a budget.....you can't beat the Revolution Pro palette price. Sure, it might take a little more work to build up some of the e/s but I could live with that for the price. Love your videos!
I purchased the Huda palette finally after drooling over the colors for so long. It is absolutely worth every penny! Gorgeous product and you are right about getting what you pay for, this palette has not disappointed me. I haven’t tried Revolution products before, I’ve actually never seen them in Canada but it reminds me a little of Colorpop which has a lot of dupe palettes which end up being a bit disappointing.
The Huda Beauty palette has become my go-to for not just daily looks, but also when I want some oomph. I see the Rev Pro one has more of a brownier than a pinker look to it. I've heard that the Huda palette itself was v. similar to the Beauty Creations Tease Me palette, but apart from the inside packaging, and that both are neutral, I don't see it - Huda's is, again, pinker, and has those reflective shimmers that aren't there in the Tease Me. I'm usually in LOVE with Revolution eyeshadows, but this doesn't seem as pigmented as usual. Thanks for the honest review and demo! You nailed it - if they'd packaged it to look different, the comparison wouldn't have come back to bite them in the wrong place.
As always...you look gorgeous. At times I think the Huda is tooo strong but I understand that money matters and that it stays in place is important ! Well done...thank you ! 🇨🇦
Thanks so much for the comparison! I’ve been eyeing off that Huda palette since you reviewed it, but I’ve never been able to get past the cost! Here in Australia it has a price tag of $99 😱 which seems an awful lot of money for what is essentially 18 shades of pink.....
I think Revolution shadows work best on a tacky base - I use their cut crease canvas and let it dry down for about 4 mins while I’m doing something else. This palette doesn’t interest me at all, but I’m all about both of Carmi’s palettes and Tammi’s second carnival palette. The formulations are excellent with that ‘buttery’ consistency and I always get compliments. Maybe give that approach a try. Don’t get me wrong, their palettes can be hit or miss, but when they work they’re fire and it’s worth a try. Just don’t go buying stuff you don’t need just to follow fashion IMHO!
I so love this Huda Beauty palette and purchased it with your recommendation. I get so many compliments when I wear it. I feel it was worth the $. Having said that, I think this Revolution Pro palette is beautiful too.
For me I would chose the Huda. I want those shimmers (sorry but I do). I wish she would release a shimmer only palette. WOW, imagine that Gemma, heehee. The matts I have in a few other palettes. But you've got to hand it to Revolution, they've really tried on this one. Well done Revolution. Great review, 💗💕💗
Wow! I can't tell the difference between the two. But, there probably are huge differences in application like I saw with fallout. Excellent job in showing us the two differences. Sold on Huda...I think..:) 😀
Very helpful. I agree that Revolution didn't do themselves any favors copying the Huda palette. There are so many cut rate companies that do nothing but dupes. Maybe they wanted a piece of that action? You did a beautiful look with both palettes. xxoo
Hi Gemma I have had the huda palette for a little while but I only used it yesterday because of it being so warm colours but I was wearing a dress of the same colour so yes I used it and oh my goodness how stunning were my eyes , just gorgeous ,and I don’t generally use a shimmer shadow because of my age but just a small amount looked great very pleased I bit the bullet and used it , I put my shimmer on with my finger and it was just enough without looking like mutton dressed as lamb ! It really is exceptionally good eyeshadow my first eye palette that’s not Estée Lauder but you know what I will be buying another from Huda ! I must admit it was so easy using the shadows not ever using shimmers before I was happy with the result so much so I had another play today using a glitter nice !
W7 have a huda nude dupe also for 10 pounds the mattes are pigmented and blend easily the shimmer and foils work fantastic with your ring fingers all for 10 pound x it's called the socialite palette x
The revolution pallet worked well for me. I love it. In terms of the fall out, I do my eye makeup first, and then my foundation/concealer. The revolution pallet doesn’t blend as well as the HUDA pallet but it is good for the price.
Gemma, you always do such a good review and are always fair to the product. I thank you for being truthful about the Revolution Pro. Boo Whoo lol Great review
Great review! I ulcerated over the Huda palette for a long long time, because of the price, but purchased it after your review. Oh my gosh, it's amazing and one of my favorites.
Your review is once again accurate and very fair. A very "English approach" that I admire. Without all the bells and whistles around it. Thank you very much.
Both finished eyes looked beautiful but I do think your right, you get what you pay for. The small amount of products used in the nude pallet means it will last a lot longer . It's beautiful. Take care everyone 😉
I don't mind a little extra time to build up color if it is a third of the price. I haven't purchased from Huda Beauty but I do own a few Urban Decay, Tarte, Two Faced, and Jeffree Star palettes. Honestly, my favorite formula is Jeffree Star and Urban Decay is a close second but they are both pricey. I have a couple of Morphe and Revolution palletes as well and they are good but take a bit more work. I may pick up the Huda, I had planned to pick it up after your initial review but somehow I managed to forget. As always, you look lovely!
Gemma, thank you for an honest but fair interview. Any company should jump to work with someone who has your finesse It's true that sometimes you get what you pay for. In this case that would be great pigmentation.
I like Huda beauty palette, but I would purchase the Revolution palette and just build the shadow because I could go overboard with the Huda Beauty palette and put too much on.
HI Gemma - you should do a video just using the Revolution Pro, maybe trying different looks with just it. I agree with you that comparing the two lessened the goodness of the Rev Pro palette. You're the best - have a great day/night!
So glad you did this video. Boy, can you say same but, different?! Craziness. It's always difficult to choose in a situation like this, where one is so expensive but, a so much better product... And the other so much cheaper but, you are using 3x the product. Honestly, I don't think I'm going to jump on either, right now anyway. But, at least if/when I do, I know what I'm buying. 💜
Very helpful, thank you! I had to add, I just got the dupe "aroma" (nude huda) $12, colors are similar, like the revolution, but I have to say my eyes are hurting from the fall out 😔. I think, like you say, you pay for what you get.
It would be a shame (for Huda) if there were no difference in quality. Although you are right, I surely could not decide which side/eye is Huda or Revolution. You created a beautiful look (as always). Lip fillers? 👍💋 Hugs and kisses, Sabine 😘
Makeup is funny, very very subjective. You adore the Huda palette and yet other youtubers didn't rate it at all. Personally I loved the colours in the Huda palette but as it's not a palette i would reach for very often and some of the reviews helped me decide not to purchase it. But I continue to love the palette from afar. I'm going to buy the revolution one and if I find I'm using it quite regularly then i will purchase the Huda one. Eyeshadow quality is quite often a case of you get what u pay for xx ps u look stunning xx
Hi Gemma, very interesting review! There is another palette which is supposed to be the exact dupe for the Huda's one. It is from W7 and it's called Socialite. I don't know if it is available in UK, but it would be interesting to see a comparison with that one as well...
Huda beauty is way more pigmented so with this said, when using any drug store or any shadow that isn’t quite pigmented, use a wet base and don’t set!!! Use the concealer (preferably a hydrating non matte kind, I use tarte creaseless concealer) to your eyes and then apply the revolution pro palette and you’ll get an exact dupe for the huda beauty nude....... I also love hard candy eye shadow palettes but again you have to use a wet base for it to work. Also for not as pigmented shadows use a dense brush for first application, and then concentrate on blending afterwards.
I live in Europe and we don't have Huda beauty, it is too expensive in my opinion. I wish Revolution would make a better quality cause it is one of my favourite brands as we don't have same brands here. 😉 I love the look you created, but I will be buying Revolution pro anyway. Cause they sell it here. Some of their products are not the best. Some are great, especially very affordable highlighters. 😊
You look stunning! Love your new lips 👄Nice video I just can’t keep my eyes of you Beautiful. Love the nude colours of both the pallets. Thank you Gemma. When can we expect the video of the powders on more mature skin with your Mum? This Huda Pallet is $65 in Australia Isn’t it ridiculous! The Revolution Pallet $24 also expensive but more affordable.
Gemma, Thank you for your integrity in reviewing these palettes. Do you think a tacky light coloured eye shadow primer would help with the Revolution Pro palette in terms of colour payoff and fall-out? 💖🌷💄👛
Just got the Huda today, it is stunning but it is pricey. thank you fora great review. I am not sure what to do for now. I am thinking if you use a good primer and a setting spray, the Revolution may not shade and stay put.
I would never spend $68 on an eyeshadow palette but the Huda Beauty is clearly more pigmented and applies easier. Of the 4 Revolution palettes I've purchased in the past 2 years, only one do I continue to use with any frequency. The others have been donated. They look so beautiful in the store but the shadows vary dramatically as to quality and pigment, even within the same palette. I finally stopped allowing myself to get sucked into buying more from the brand. :-/ Fallout aside, you made it work very well, beautiful eye look. :)
I've always found Huda's palettes to not swatch very well but perform excellently the blendability is there and the pigmentation. I've got the revolution palette and just as you've said it's a good palette in its own right but not comparable in formula and ease of use. To be fair at 65 so it should be lol
Aloha! I was watching your foundation videos and you said that you were going to do dupes vid for high end foundations but I don't see it. Did you ever do that? If not, would love to see it. You have an excellent channel!!
Such a great video idea! I feel bad for Huda that she was original and amazing and some drugstore brand copied her brilliance with a cheap dupe. I know its how it all works in retail but still... also they're possibly attracting different types of consumers anyway. I haven't got the huda one but I think out of a respect for quality and originality id prefer it even though it's tempting to save a buck.
Very pretty Gemma, would the Huda be better for wrinkled lids since it goes on so effortless? I do like the Revolution colors and price, but haven't found a really good eye shadow the doesn't make my lids more wrinkly. I have tried Nars and they're okay but I'm not that good at blending my shadows. Wish I could blend like you have. Thanks for the great video!
It's so disappointing to see that the pigment isn't there with those mat shades. I have so many Revolution pallets and always find them to be excellent. I am still tempted to try this one though because I simply can't afford the Huda one!
I don't think you'd realise that the pigmentation isn't really there unless you were doing a side by side comparison with a high end product. The palette itself is really nice and the shadows are nice to blend xxx
I got the Huda Nude palette for my birthday in march after seeing yr review on it. I love it and have used it a lot, I even took it on my recent holiday, along with my choc gold palette from too faced. Its good to see a comparison of Huda versus Revolution. I think if when I eventually hit pan on my huda, since its so expensive I wouldnt buy it again but would go for the rev pro one, unless there is another dupe thats better.
I didn’t realize you were in the UK. I don’t think shopalterego.com ships internationally. That’s too bad 😞😞 The Daydream palette looks identical to the Huda palette in videos. I am going to cave and order myself one.
Great great review Gemma :-)) I did get the one from Amazon Uk that looks like the Huda palette, its UCANBE. The matts are lovely and stay on really great, sadly the shimmers are rubbish, well heyho. oxoxoxox
I got a makeup revolution palette and the commits were pretty not they applied very patchy and we not easy to blend. They weren't the pro version though but still cost the same as the pro. Idk. I was disappointed in it so idk if it's want to try it again. I can get a bh or morphe palette for the same price and the shadows are quite pigmented and blend nicely.
I purchased a dupe for the huda palette from hush before they went out of business and the palette is just gorgeous! I paid like $10 for it and its dead on exact. The shades, the pigments, the feeling like butter... its just a gorgeous palette. If I didn't see the cover of it, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference from the huda palette.. its that dead on of a dupe. So glad I got it before the company went under! 😂
This video - Love ! Your eye look - Love! The #RevolutionPro Packaging - Love! The colour story - Love! The mix of mattes, shimmers & glitters - Love! The price point - Love! (The #RevolutionBeauty one , obvs). Guess which pallete will be making it's way into my shopping basket (along with some of the other products in this range - and they'll collectively be cheaper than the one #HudaBeauty pallete). A fab comparison Gemma, many thanks for making my mind up!
Hey Gemma, love this video..you look so fresh, natural, glowing and of course stunning!! If I can every afford it this is the type of makeup I would really love but the only downfall would be, as I have a very clingy autistic daughter who loves her mummy cuddles I'd be worried about transfer and it rubbing off quickly. I wonder if a good setting spray could help extend the wear time and a good gripping primer...cover FX I think has a good gripping primer. I'm currently looking at beautypie products, have you ever reviewed those?, love the prices on the website. xx
Pampered Wolf ohhh I was wondering why hadn’t tried using a packing brush. Just thought it might have helped! I’m with you tho I actually prefer the glitters from the Rev pro palette as I also have both.
