The pavements in the centre of huddersfield are not fit for a wheelchair or a pram and yet the local counci decided we need some giant white metal cones built during an austerity crisis. the shop closures and poverty of so many locals is legion, worse than the 1980's when the last time the Tory government destroyed the economy. This time around local government appears to be joining them in paying for decorating the town instead of helping local people with mental health, addiction support and social care. I notice the old co op building has arabic numerals on the outside of it, who owns it now. I love West Yorkshire and the people here, this is not how I imagine a hard working town in the 6th richest economy of the world should look like, fur coat and no knickers is how it appears.
