He was a rock star! When I first moved to LA I learned so much about LA and California from his shows. Really miss his simple homespun style and interest in things most people would overlook.
I remember Huell Howser as a reporter for KNX during the Watts Riot. He was under attack but he grabbed a person and pulled both of them under the truck he will always be a hero to me
Every week for the last many many years he was on NPR here in San Diego but I always enjoy him on KNX He had a way with people on and off the camera he was the guy you wanted to shake his hand and say hello I need buy a milkshake he take you over to the nearest and grab one for both of us
How we miss Huell Howser. He made going anywhere interesting. How I wish I could of met him. But we can still enjoy seeing him in the video's he has left for us to enjoy. I've seen a lot of his visits, but I know there's many more I haven't. Can't wait. Thanks Huell.
I've been so many years in the desert Huell Howser knows how to do it differentiating date palms from natural Palms. At least he had the Gusty wind his enthusiasm 4life end friendship with everybody is felt on the breeze
I have been through that area of California quite often, Indio, Palm Springs, Coachella Valley, and through the Morongo Pass to get over to Los Angeles and other beach cities. There’s many low laying areas that are right at sea level or below sea level such as the Salton Sea. It’s quite the geologically active area and still is of which you can all see by the terrain alone. There’s still mountain ranges still being built by seismic activity by nearby San Andreas Fault and the San Jacinto Fault zone as well.
The San Andreas runs about 3/4 of a mile from me in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It's the Granddaddy of all earthquake faults. There's a coast live oak with dozens of branches emanating from the trunk that's directly on top the fault. It was definitely a product of the fault. It's majestic and spiritual
thank you but you should actually subscribe to my other channel named Turdlok because i have more Huell episodes there and better random material in general. I almost never upload on this channel lately.
conchita/cochella - not exactly difficult to see where the name Cochella came from 😆and why is he apparently flabbergasted that date palms originate from places like Algeria? "can you make money growing dates?" what?? 🤣 very interesting. i liked the tour guide fella, could've done without Ol' Howser. he was starting to annoy me 😏 but i'm English, and i've never heard of him before, so maybe that's just me 😁
