Hey everyone! I recently released my own album! It is available on vinyl and for streaming. Buy or stream my album, Level Green, by clicking HERE: Linktr.ee/doncole Thanks!!!
@@lukashislop5890 It is hard to know the actual condition of the vinyl itself. They will certainly need a good clean and vacuum but unless there are deep scratches that should eliminate most of the pops and crackles. The condition of the jackets are certainly another matter, but if half of them clean up well then they should be $1-3 records. That would be maybe a long term $1,000 to $1,500 profit.
@@elliottcrews4997 how would someone clean a jacket like that though? I mean the vinyl itself is pretty easy but once the jacket is in this condition, I don’t think there is truly a way to clean them up. I was just wondering your take on it?
@@TheSRamos03 There isn't much you can do. Wiping with a baby wipe to get mold and dirt off helps. Clear tape to repair seam splits. I wouldn't use the clear tape on valuable records, there are better more time consuming ways to repair splits but for these records it wouldn't be worth it. Put the record in a new poly inner sleeve and put the whole thing in a new poly outer sleeve and you've done all you need and can practically do. There are lots of people that aren't too concerned about the jacket when they can get an album that might sale at a record shop with a good condition cover for $10-15 and they can get it for $5 or less if the vinyl condition is just as good.
All that for $250 is definitely worth it. Nothing extremely rare but definitely some good stuff in there. Lots of duplicates in there so you could sell the worse quality ones and definitely make some revenue off of it.
I'd say that's pretty damn worthwhile. I mean, to me, the idea of getting all that music (especially for what you paid) is pretty mind-blowing. It'd take you absolutely forever to get through all that, and you might end up discovering something you like. Quite priceless when you think of it like that.
This is so satisfying to watch because you feel like you're at a garage sale or something going through the records and every time you see something you like you get that fantastic feeling only record hunting can give. I don't know why I enjoy it so much considering I'm not getting a single one but it's really fun lol.
Wow, there are obviously a ton of great titles in this batch. I guess it all comes down to what type of collector you are. For me, the condition is too rough in many cases -- however, for purposes of having them to listen to as a warm-up, to later replace with better copies in some cases, this was quite a score.
Something worth noting is that the original owner seemed to be a big Beatles fan (had a lot of solo records, a cover record I believe?) but there was no Abbey Road, White, Sgt Peppers, Revolver, etc. which leads me to believe this was already somewhat skimmed through, but obviously not super well. Even if half those records are unplayable, it's worth it imo. Has nearly all the classics.
What An Amazing Hoard! Just More And More Great Artists One After Another. You Really Hit The Jackpot With This Awesome Haul. I Bet You The Whole First Stack Alone Could Probably Be Worth Around A Couple Hundred Bucks If In Great Shape!
Rolling Stones - Some Girls (2:18) has the original cover before Rachel Welch & Lucille Ball's images were removed. Later editions had coloured blanks in their place. The album is great and that cover makes it a keeper. Hope all those albums aren't warped or nicked.
You did very well here for $250. As i always say when buying a lot like this, even if you sold the ones you didn't want for $1, you're still making a nice profit.
I think you did well. It would be nice to see the label on some of those. The water damage to the front is tough on some, but I think you've got some flappable albums.
You got alot of really great finds I would say it was worth it,sure some are not in the best shape but they all were great albums. I think that was a score!
AWESOMENESSS!! Love The idea of you hunting for Vinyl and digging for the good stuff. Besides the Ring wear and also don't know about the condition as far as the Records go, just some of those pink Floyd, led zeppelin , Hendrix, MJ, Sabbath I think ya got you moneys worth and made the trip worth while....Just subbed!
That's really awesome man! These kind of scores are the reason to own a wagon :) Last autumn I scored 800 records for 100$, it definitely didn't have that many awesome albums as your pile tho!
smfcpthowdy this dude has over a thousand records, some of them are best to just be enjoyed while he has them. I'm sure pretty much everyone would like a good cover with their vinyl but there are people that can just enjoy the record regardless.. I'm sure he is looking to get rid of alot of these, its not like he is gonna replace all of these with a good condition replacement, but people still do want them.. Let people do shit their own way...
Benjamin Barrer I agree with you, Benjamin. I have a little collection (around 80 records) and when I buy something I care more about the disc itself. Maybe I'm not a good collector, I just enjoy the music
i wouldnt go out and particularly buy a lot of the records in the vid, but getting all of these at such a good price gives you an opportunity to really listen to the records you wouldnt normally listen to. idk why but this vid gives me this weird sense of joy and satisfaction
I say for the most part you got a hell of a deal. The records may not be in great shape but as someone who runs a used record stall at a Flea market on weekends, thats the kind of stuff that would effortlessly fly out of my $5 and under bins
I think it was a good deal - good general titles and a great way to build up a collection. Then again I'm a mad collector, so to give them a good home is always a soft spot for me :)
You did great! A couple of things to consider here...first, no matter what you got, it's all about condition. So, hopefully, they're in good shape. However, most important to consider is the number of duplicates, triplicates and beyond that you have! Those additional records, will allow you to make some of that money back, or get trade credit for records that you really want at the record store! Hell yes, you did great!
Yes Don absolute bargain, well done for knocking him down, I bet he winces when you said 250! Now you have to listen to each one! Peace and Love from Bristol England
That's a quality find and wow would love to get diggin in to that lot . But i have found in even my own collection i buy or have 3 or 4 copy's of a record that gets played as it might have been the party or even part of the night and gets played all the time by un-vinyl careing music loving people . Anyway thank you for posting , x
I’d say that was a real nice find and a great deal for you. Lots of music for a low price or could easily sell off and make the money back and take the keepers.
Duuuuudddeee to me u hit a mother load just by looking at the first half u went through i could tell u did pretty well! i wish i could hit something that big where i live!
I guy that I work with is selling his albums he has about he said 2900 of them and he is selling them all. He said they range from R&B to 50's 60,70, 80 big band area to German folk songs to Norwegian folk songs and so on he said so it's going to take me a little time . It cool when you come across these types of finds on albums and 45's
To be serious, this is like $2000 worth of records at least, he got an amazing deal, I could sell all of those for $5 each at least, most $10 or over, and many for $20 and over!
After the first stack I knew you made a great deal and the second was almost just as good. The third stack is so so and the fourth stack was alright . It was defiantly worth it, I've already spent about $120 on just 5 records that you found in the first stack. Good buy kid.
Be careful not to over pay building a collection. Takes more new enthuists out then anything. Much more pleasure finding 1) albums you love and will play in 2) the discount bin at a price that your proud of. Patience is critical and a part of the process. (cause patience is the only way to describe someone willing to play and store vinyl)
Yep coming from an old rock n roller you did good for just the listening value. And I hope you do. And I hope the vinyl can be cleaned to sound good. Whoever had them didn’t take care of them. Great deal!!
As long as those records work, it looks like a decent set to me. Some of that stuff I would want in my collection too. I notice a lot of similar records though.
As people said some of the covers are worn but if the records are in decent shape you got a really great deal alot of spectacular lps there.. if you have a good turntable you have alot of good listening ahead
I would have to say for $250 that is literally one of the best deals I’ve seen like ever. As long as there not warped in a terrible way from being stacked like they were, there’s a lot of “doubles” of albums that I wish I had or only have seen once but was unplayable
I think it is all worth it. For me personally, I am particular about the condition of the album jacket as well as the vinyl itself. Hope the records are in super condition as in not much scratches and not warped. If the cover are in bad shape, you can always upgrade when you find a better copy. Nevertheless, i think it is worth it. Hope you had a blast with them considering this was back in 2015.
I'M 71 and all those albums at one time I own as well as friends. I then sold, donated, or threw out only to reach recollect some again several times. Thus many classic gems for your age! One of my favorite was The Twelve Rooms of Doctor Sardonitus by Spirit. When I was a hippie both I and 2 friends were escorted into their dressing room before a Florida concert while we were high as a kite. They recognized it since we accidently walked into their dressing room. They instructed their stage hand to take these guys up to the front of the audience. Historical but also shameful compare to my present life. Thanks for sharing
New to your channel, BUT, as a collector.....I think you scored!! If these are playable @ VG condition, then they're treasues. Just take a cleaning wipe to the covers, slip them in plastic sleeves, and they'll look good. Envious, great find.
I think you did great - hopefully the vinyl is in better condition than some of those covers, but loads of those you could sell for $2-5 EASILY... Take the things you dont want and sell them at a record show and you will make a profit.
Totally worth it. Just the original Rolling Stones real-zipper album (Sticky Fingers) is worth about £30-40 (that's what I paid for it in Romania at a flea market) in very good condition (which yours seems to be in at a first glance). Plus that a lot of them are original pressings like Dylan, Neil Young, Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, which are worth a pretty penny as well. I think these are worth 10 times what you paid for them (at least) if sold individually.
Wow I say you did great three were many great classics dude..some conditions weren't great but all in all I think you did good and would defiantly make money from them
Big question ! How many didn’t you have and what was the quality of those ? If 10% were ok that makes 100 records at $250 equate to $2.50 each ... That’s a good buy
I personally think you did pretty good. Im a little bit more picky on what i add to my collection (the most records I've ever bought at once was 11) but this is great for if you want the more rare records but don't care about a little dirt on the sleeve.
OMG you do have some awesome vinyls. Are they playable without scratches and loud pops. The first stack you showed was a great bunch. I myself have at least 2000 and they are in excellent condition. Well I have a "Deep Purple, Smoke on the water", original with scratches. Do you have a turntable and receiver and speakers to play them? I saw where you have "Wooly Bully", love that song. I think you did good it just depends what you are going to do with them. Are they for your enjoyment or to sell?
That is one thing I do not like about watching videos on record hauls. If you have a bunch of great titles, but in horrible condition, they are as good as garbage. I don't get all excited just based on the covers.
Personally I dont mind I actually like the variety between having some garbage condition records and some pristine ones and some eh ones ya know? As long as a record can play even with a few easily manageable skips I'm happy. Record pops and skips and fuzz is all kind of part of the experience
Most of the records in my collection look like they've sat in the basement of an abandoned house for 50+ years but the only reason i'll get rid of them is if i get an upgrade copy, but if not and the record plays good enough i got no reason to trash it
Based on the condition of the record covers, do we really expect the vinyl inside to be in pristine condition? Then again, if you're happy.. thats all that matters
Hi man! In my opinion, i think you are do a right thing. 1500 for 250 are a good deal. If you just listen a 80% of all that vinyl's, are even more great. I'm from Europe, Serbia (there is no war at Balkan, 24 years and more, dont worry :D ), and I must say some vinyls there (Eric Clapton - Slowhand, The Who - Whos next, Canned heat...) they are no less then 23-24 dollars each, in second hand condition. So, i like your videos, there are so so cool music, my dream is to come to America to shop a little, LP's especially. :D
Depends on the condition of the vinyl and whether they're first pressings. If the Led Zeppelin have no significant scratches and are on the Atlantic plump coloured label opposed to the green label you've hit the jackpot with those alone.
Yeah, depending on condition. Assuming they were VG+ or better. If they were scratched, not. Some had some rips on the covers, but there were tons of duplicates, so you could probably piece together one good copy of each
Man, if the condition of the covers were better then you would have made the haul of the century. Just hope the condition of the records are decent. My rule for a haul is if the price is $250, there have to be 250 records I would actually want to buy. I would have made that deal. Congrats!
If they weren't attacked by Insects and Damp and Mold, This lot would have been a Treasure Trove for sure. The Only ones that jumped out to me and would have stopped My heart are. 2:12 comes down to the Label and what Press It Is, 2:23 Is the Gatefold the Pop up Version?. 3:56 The Alice Cooper one, Nice, 4:27 If the Gatefold has the Dog Bits still there, Then this Is the Winner. 4:28 Very Rare piece of wax. Has It got "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" on It?. 5:09 If You are In the UK You would Burn This One. 5:26 Pity this Is not the CD Version. 9:21 This one Is very nice, and not many around. Just these were worth the whole lot put together. Maybe You could confirm some of them In another video?.
Some decent stuff, some wrecked covers. Depends on what you want. If you're looking to collect for a nice collection, you've got a mixed bag. Some stuff that I'd get rid of and some stuff I'd definitely hold on to if the vinyl is in good shape. Clean it up, sort it out, and you'll be fine.
Seeing this way late! Wondering how you did on these.. did you sell a lot? How many did you keep in your own collection, etc.? Did it pay off in the end?
