Winter time is often flatter seas time as well. The Eastern Blue Groper is a residental species but most often fished for in the winter months. They can be caught every month f the year but generally targeted in the cooler months. I hooked this big blue of 10-11kg which took a decent run. The running ball sinker slid up the line and over the FG and leader join. When I tried to wind back the last few metres I coud not do it because the sinker was stuck! If you wndered why I had such a long length of line from the rod top to the fish it was because i could not wind on any more line.
It was fantastic landing this big blue and then releasing it.
