ASH PRINCESS BLEW ME AWAY. I could not get over how unexpectedly good that book turned out. Also, Poppy War and The List are both fantastic choices as well! I hope you enjoy them!
also I just finished the Poppy War and it was amazing! very very dark but the author does an amazing job making the entire setting feel real its gorgeous
Thank you for posting regan. this video came just at the right time in a really difficult day/week/month and lemme tell you your uploads are the only thing getting me through the exhaustion of my master's dissertation because you're just so happy and i need positivity in my life right now.
omg, thank you for this video. I didn't know The Poppy War was in this sale! It was one of my favorite books this year and was bummed that I couldn't afford my own copy!
Thanks so much for posting this. Barnes and Noble never does sales and I could not resist. Especially since most of the books on sale are recent, popular releases! I could not believe it.
The Girl Who Drank the Moon was FANTASTIC! I loved it so much and thought it was so wonderful and beautiful. Its told from many perspectives and that makes it all the more interesting, because you as the reader know so much about whats going on, while the characters are in the dark. It was amazing and so good. I definitely recommend it to anyone.

I can’t WAIT to hear your thoughts on The Poppy War!
YES! The Poppy War is one of my favorite books this year, if not one of my favorites of all time. Definitely very, very dark with virtually every content warning available, but I'm excited to see your thoughts on it!!!
Those seem like great books! My local B&N did not have a wide selection of their 50% off. There's always online ordering I suppose!! I did get War Cross by Marie Lu though!
I have the paperback version of Strange the Dreamer and want to hardback so bad. Having multiple editions of books you love is a must haha I bought The Bookshop of Yesterday's during the sale too! Love bookstore settings! I don't know if you read it, but How To Find Love in a Bookshop is a good read! It's a multi perspective story revolving around how a bookshop in a small town connects a bunch of people. It was quite a lovely time.
I looooovvvveed The Girl Who Drank the Moon!!!! Sooooo gooood!! Beautifully written with surprising political undertones and heartwarming magic!! I was reading it and the last fifty or so pages I ended up reading in a parking lot because I had to finish!!! I couldn’t wait the 5 minutes to drive home!!!
The Girl Who Drank the Moon is so fantastic! I bought a second copy for a friend right after I finished it. I recommend it highly and think you’d love it too.
LOVE your book haul vids. Can I request something though? Would you mind showing how the hardbacks look without their dust covers? I've always been curious about them all.
Barnes and Noble is losing a lot of ground in physical stores. They're trying to get people in to stores where they otherwise aren't shopping. Their retail prices are sometimes as much as double than their online price. And still, Amazon has automatic price adjustments so B&N can't get the upper hand. Not sure about Waterstones, as I'm in the US, but Barnes and Noble also typically doesn't do this. They paid many, many promoters apparently for this sale. I'm curious to see if they continue with this line of sales.
The List reminds me a bit of 1984 by George Orwell since I was linguistically really intrigued by his made-up language. I think I'll check The List out, too :D
There's another book for 50% called There There by Tommy Orange. It's a modern story centered around different Native American people coming together at a powwow, and it's been getting really great reviews.
I’ve been seeing Strange the Dreamer everywhere and I’ve been meaning to read it for months! I think September is the month I’m finally going to read it...
*Judges you for buying several copies of a book you already own while hiding all my copies of A TALE OF TWO CITIES and GREAT EXPECTATIONS...each of which I own at least 5 copies...* 🤣😂 Seriously...anyone who would judge you for that isn't a bookdragon! 😊😉
I have the hardback edition of STD that you showed it's so gorgeous so I cannot blame you. A 50% off sound so so cool wish we he that over here in the UK . SERIOUSLY INTERESTED IN THE POPPY WAR.
So fortunate for you folks in the United States! I hope that I get great bargains in Manila International Book Fair. We have a book fair coming up in Metro Manila in the Philippines.
Very nice shade of green, that top. Not relevant, but anyway ... good selection for your mega book-haul! However, my wallet is waaay too tightly zipped to buy multiple editions of the same book. Now I'm thinking of the various editions of L.O.T.Rings I own, and shudder, because I once took ownership of a certain edition of L.O.T.R, thinking it was nothing special, and shamefully neglected it so much that it got thrown away. I have more recently found out it was a valuable FIRST EDITION. What an a-hole!!!
I really wished I would’ve liked Strange the Dreamer but honestly I was sixteen chapters in and still didn’t understand wtf was going on. I love Laini Taylor’s work but this one was super tough for me 😬
