The cards are nice, but the prices are outrageous. I'm not even buying a blaster because $40 for a blaster is a RIPOFF. It's true that a good card is a really good card, but there are so many filler autos in this that you may as well go buy the cards you want for less than the price of these boxes.

The only reason to buy retail is because of the MVP-buyback program. You can pay for one box with a refractor. Even with that case-hit auto from Ortiz you’re still not getting all your money back.

@@Delmiester I have 1 card shop that is nearby, but their hours are sporadic (and limited parking) so it's a hassle to get there. Not to mention so much stuff is priced too high in general. The buyback isn't enough to justify it for me. It's great if others can benefit from it, but I'd rather Chrome just wasn't so expensive for what you get.

They want you thinking that joining a break and getting a rando team for $20 is the way to go. Spending that little and getting 10x ROI for some nice auto, or low parallel, is worth the spot. Seems as far as looking out “for collectors”, and making rips affordable, that ship sailed after COVID when they realized the market went bananas and they can keep wax-prices high and only focus on folks returns, instead of PC collecting.

@@tulsabeasley3436 I was 16, and that was right around 1985 and topps Baseball and I remember pulling Card 401 Mark McGuire USA baseball team and then my other favorite player Roger Clemons rookie card. and I remember walking to 7-Eleven and getting the Jumbo packs for like I think it was $.95 or $.85 today in order to get a decent pack of cards you’re spending like $10-$20. Everything is such a rip off.

Sports memorabilia used to be fun, used to be able to go to the store pick up a pack of cards get a Beckett magazine for under five bucks, it’s all about the money and top is the biggest rip off, ever since the company was bought by fanatics. It is a joke And the fact that people buy this crap just makes it even more stupid because nobody ever gonna buy this one of ones or one oh fives at $2500 or even $10,000, let’s be real sports cards are really for kids, and the fact of sports memorabilia sports card collecting is gotten so ridiculous with the pricespeople can’t afford it specially, these times

Ever since breaking popped up products are way too expensive and it doesn't matter to their main buyers, breakers. It won't change either since they buy cases of everything no matter what the price is.

Great video! I bought my yearly hobby box yesterday. Hit a Jackson Merrill /25! Auto was meh of course. Hit a ton of rookies and some great inserts of top rookies and vets. Hit an all etch rookie ssp also. Box was great. Don’t know about $40 for a blaster. Definitely not $500 for 12 cards. Jumbos are up in the air for me right now. Wish they came out with hangers and value packs for retail. May try a mega if I can find one. Thanks for sharing!

Its not even worth buying it at retail price. I decided to give a try to the fanatics product drop, where you join their raffle and if you are chosen you purchase the product with your credit card on file. I guess I "won" a hobby box at 199 but even that wasn't worth it and feel no hype. Allen and Ginter is my fave line cause its been usually way cheaper for a hobby box and such but I am scared this year the price will skyrocket.

And who in the heck has $399 for a box of cards that might give you something good or might give you a bunch of nothing. The pricing is way too high. You got your lower level crap that they sell that people that are on low class and middle-class can afford.
