Ugh that’s a shame. I can see them extending it to a 48 or 72 hour limit on last minute exchanges but 2 weeks! The 24 hour flexibility was great as added insurance if you booked a place that could be greatly affected by severe weather so you didn’t have to buy insurance. Or if there was a personal family emergency right before vacation this new 2 week policy isn’t generous or as appealing anymore.

Yeah, I wonder if they will see a hit on revenue if people stop buying Eplus.

I would use E-plus regrade to snag a last minute upgrade (lot’s of people cancel last minute). In fact, I JUST did that last month. I had a studio at the Marriott in Kauai, and then got a last minute 1-BR at the Marriott in Maui (which we like better) so we made the trade with E-plus. Such a shame you can’t do this anymore.

Can you talk to II and get a reason on this change as it is a big change to how EPlus works?

Has II made any changes to E-Plus regarding the room size retrade? I am trying now to re-trade into a larger unit in order to bring my two kids. I can't seem to find anything within a one year window that is not a studio. There are only studios available. And just paid $89 for e-plus. Any tips on what to do? How to re-trade for a larger unit? I have a studio at a Four Seasons resort for July 2024. Thank you.

Retrades will always be based on availability. So it is likely that there aren't any larger units available at that resort. I would think Four Seasons is popular and July is probably also a popular time to travel. So getting a retrade for a larger unit may not be very easy. The best advice is to keep checking and check often.

In a situation where you need to cancel within 14 days, what is the best option? Buy insurance as well as Eplus?

You could purchase the insurance, but insurance is only going to pay for covered losses. Thinks like cancellations for health related issues or the resort is closed. It won't cancel just because you changed your mind. Another option is to just pay another full fee retrade inside of 14 days.

Taking a play from the RCI playbook. No bueno. Makes me glad that I have my mini systems to fall back on. Pretty soon I will just give up on these exchange companies all together. They are just becoming more and more not worth the hassle. With the points systems in all the timeshares they are just pricing themselves out of the market. People will just walk away from their ownerships if they can't get value.

The EPLUS retried was already not such a great thing, given the huge recent price increase and the fact that you are only limited to current inventory and can not submit a trade request instead.

As Marriott ownes Interval International, how can anyone be amazed that they don't spend their days finding ways to screw their members. With Marriott continuing to pull strings behind the curtain because of their screwed up Point System and trying to rent units.
