I love this!! I use minimalism Sometimes but that doesn’t mean I have to be a minimalist or look like One. I can be minimal in some categories and a bit excessive in others
I really enjoy how real you are about your shopping problem and your future goals. I think most of us have or had a shopping problem at one point. You mentioned here buying several graphic tees from the same artist because they looked good at the time. This reminds me so much of myself. For me it was spiritual gangster hoodies. A new one would come out and I loved the way it looked on the model and had to have it. When I did a big declutter last year, I got rid of all but one. Sometimes less really is more and it’s sad we waste so many dollars before realizing that. But I’m thankful to get to watch your journey. It’s not curated and perfect. It’s messy and beautiful and I can see the struggle sometimes. And I appreciate you for sharing that and for acknowledging when you can do better and also when you’re proud of yourself. You’re a true gem. 🤎
So relatable, esp the “staple” items that aren’t staples for your style and preference and items that survive multiple declutters only to get tossed eventually.
An idea: If you love just admiring the vintage fringe jacket, then just hang it up as a wall display, similar to a macrame wall hanging display. No shame if you only use it as decoration!
Wow “I really know myself by now” yes you do! Look at you! You’ve done a huge work since the beginning of your declutter journey! You should be very proud of yourself and I hope you are. All the best👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I loved this video. You should do a video making yourself wear your maybe pile out of the house just for I day for each item and see if you really like them. It would be a interesting video.
You did great! I just decluttered 10 items from my wardrobe and I feel lighter! Since selling online is complicated for me and the items are not very new I’ll be donating. I also decluttered some home decor (it used to be my problem). Thanks for your videos! They’re very helpful!
I started following you about a year ago when you began this low-buy journey and I just want to say that I’m so impressed! You’ve come a long way since posting that first low-buy rules video and I notice you’ve really made it a lifestyle. Just wanted to tell you, as a stranger on the www, I see you and all the effort you’ve put into this. You should be really proud of yourself!💗
Get rid of that black skirt Christina. I literally just watched your last declutter video and you said EXACTLY the same thing about the black skirt. Time to go. Good on you for making the tough decisions!
Wow what is it about these decluttering videos that is so calming (and inspiring). Ps I use the app style book to keep track of what I own/wear etc, plus you can make outfits on it👍🏼
Love watching declutters!! One thing I do with certain items that I don’t wear but there’s nothing wrong with them, is put them in a backpack or bag to keep in my car. I drive a ways for work and keeping extra clothes in my vehicle has helped me several times!!! One time I got caught in torrential rain and having a change of clothes saved me from having to drive home soaking wet 😂
What a decluttering! One could see your commitment to it! Congrats! I'm so looking forward to do the same when I return home. Don't stop making these videos. By far the best in the internet!
You really committed to this one and it shows by how much you felt sure about everything you are parting with! I think when you can objectively think something was a staple but never wear it you know its time to part with it. I need to continue to do this until I just have all the clothes I wear all the time! also graphic tees are hard.
I decluttered before my bf and I moved in together and I had just explained to a friend how she can unclutter her closet so she can have a more streamlined routine in the morning (this is the issue with having tons of clothing-never anything to wear!) I can say that you and Use Less definitely inspire all of us to live more simplistic which = less time getting ready = more time experiencing life.
Loved this video so much. I gotta say kudos for letting go of some pieces you don’t reach for and yet fit you beautifully and are so flattering (that white jumpsuit 🤩). You were savage and I loved every second haha. 👍
Big-time declutter! Awesome job. We definitely get to know ourselves better over time and become more realistic about what we will actually wear. You have inspired me to cull my closet again. Have an awesome day.
I think spring/summer is the perfect time to declutter fall/winter pieces! You'll have a good idea of what you didn't wear past season, rather than get rid of something you'll regret moving forward into that season :)
Oh you could do the ribbon method or the hanger method to really see what items are most worn, every time you wear something and hang it up, just reverse hang the hanger and after a period of time whatever is still hung right side you’ll know you haven’t touched in a while.
Just came from the 2019 declutter and OMG! I can´t believe how much you changed, in this video you get rid off things easier than in the 2019 video. Declutter it´s hard but you make me believe that every time you do it, it gets easier :)
I do capsule wardrobes each season. I do a monthly regimen on what I wear each month. If something doesn't get worn in that three month period I either donate it or put it back for another season. Just today i went through my closet before watching this video and got rid of some items I know I will never wear. I have my capsule wardrobe to about 45 items per season some get carried over from other seasons. I had a ton of clothes I never felt like I had anything to wear. I have certain color palette for each season buy items in those colors 3 items per season if I need them or need a replacement. I am so much happier and I never feel like I have nothing to wear.
For the future you should see if thrift stores need your hangars instead of just throwing them out! Loved watching the declutter and can’t wait to continue following your journey
Watching this and cleaning my computer home screen, deleting old useless files! You have so many beautiful jumpsuits, don't get rid of all of them... I would buy them if I could! (I am in S. Korea so very far from Canada right now.) Also loved the silky tops and dresses (not sure I would wear them either though >
Good work- to see what you wear, do the hanger trick. Put all the hangers in the wrong way round and as you wear things, turn the hanger the right way. Then you can easily evaluate what you’re wearing 😊
I absolutely love this channel and I love your outlook and personality! Fellow Torontonian, right? That Wilfred jumpsuit completely washes you out so I am glad you threw it! xx
I think you do this is a very strategic way because your work attire is so different than what your personal style seems to be. Btw hope things are going well and you’re staying safe at work and home!
I wouldn’t get rid of all those hangers. I love those velvet hangars but every so often I break them getting clothes on and off them. I have a box of replacement hangers stashed away for that scenario only. Not for more clothes.
I ditched a lot of them but did keep a few in storage for that reason - and I’ll be too lazy to fish them out for any other reason than to replace them 😅
I think, the more you declutter, the more you see what's your true style :) Patricia from the channel "a small wardrobe" suggested in a video to do a "clothing diary", where you note every piece you wear in 30 days. She calls these clothes your "active wardrobe", and I think this clothing diary thing is really interesting! :)
re: spreadsheets and wardrobe data... you might be interested in GoldZipper's "NPS" scoring of her own wardrobe-- based on "net promoter scores" that are used to gauge customer loyalty to a particular brand-- she broke her wardrobe into promoters, passives and detractors to determine which items were the most versatile for her lifestyle
I would hang your dresspants and use the space in the drawer for your jeans - that way you can get rid of the trunk :-) I'm constantly decluttering myself and I find every time I do it I learn something new about myself. I do enjoy the process for the learning experience.
Loved what you did! So proud of you. May I suggest something. When you put your jeans back in the trunk put them in folded as you have them but instead of flat lay, put them vertical so when you open your trunk you can easily see what you want to wear. Does that make sense to you? Like a file
Thank you for the editing in this video! I listen to RU-vid while I clean, and my young children tend to follow me around the house as I do so. I’d rather they not hear foul language, so for prudes like me it’s much appreciated 😂♥️
I’m a very sweary person in real life but do I try to keep it clean in my videos for everyone xo 🥰🥰 some of my older videos I do swear, forewarning xo ❤️
Hey Christina, I think we wear the same aritzia size, as you mentioned the sadiki pants here, let me ask your size suggestion. Does it run true to size in linen blend version? Thanks!
Love love your style! I live in Toronto too and would be so down to grab 1 or 2 of your jumpsuits! Any chance of an in person (physically distanced, of course) sale rather than going through depop?
You should have kept that first jumpsuit you pulled out! It looked amazing on you and you kept saying how much you love it! Fuck it! Wear it around the house! Treat yourself!
