The confederate states rebelled against ending slavery. So basically this flag is wrong, and racist because it’s discriminating against a race. I live in St. Augustine too! Love it here. Haven't found anything myself, but since I live south of The Shores it isn't very likely that I will. I hear there are constantly things being found by people who live downtown though.

I'm still a kid but I've lived in St. Augustine most of my life and I have to say the little beach town I grew up in is gone. Being the oldest city in America it makes most of it's money off of tourism and the small town has been overpopulated. I used to live a block from the beach and it only used to take me 10 minutes to get downtown, now it takes me 40 minutes. The beauty of the city and the Nights of Lights was my favorite but now you just cant see through the crowds.

I went to Robert E. Lee High School in the 1980s. My memory of the rebel flag has nothing to do with racism. Our arch rival was Winston Churchill and their flag was a black version of the Union Jack. It was quite a sight at football games seeing our flags across from theirs.
