Do you think Turkey regrets their S-400 purchase? I would. They traded cutting edge F-35s for a mediocre air defence system. Insane decision. The more you read about the F-35s capabilities the more you understand why it was so expensive and slow to develop. It can dominate hostile airspace and utilize electronic warfare like nothing else.

Similar fireworks last month when the Russian iskander and Tornado MLRS system took out 2 X Patriot systems, 1 X IRST and 2 X NASAMS units in eastern Ukraine, when they moved them east to try and counter gliding bombs.💥💥💥 the Ukrainians paid a heavy price not only with the loss of the systems but the loss of the subsequent coverage against the pummelling from glide ordnance and ballistic missiles.

Flagrante delicto quickly followed by SAMus interruptus can be traumatic for both the missile operator and their partner.

What is scary for Russia is that these are from the 80s. Imagine a strike with latest gen missiles. The only SAM system they have that does a decent job is the Tor but this was designed by the Soviets. Pantsir and S-400 = Garbage.

I'm starting to wonder, with the cluster version of ATACMS, maybe intercepting them during the terminal phase is simply impossible... I mean, when the thing is already just going down on its ballistic arc, hitting the missile with some air-burst interceptor might merely cause it to burst open and scatter its load of smaller bomblets... so you might have successfully "hit" it, but the effect is nearly the same as not hitting it: The missile will just deploy a metric shitton of smaller bombs over its target area.

I don't think the video narrative is correct. He says detection is not a problem, but interception is. I measure 31 seconds from S400 missile launch to ATACMS impact. Seems to me that detection is a big problem. You need to detect a ballistic missile early enough to calculate its flight path. The ATACMS would have been flying for at 3-6 minutes.

The video shows the s400 trying to intercept them almost seconds before impact, that immediately tells everyone the capabilities of the s400 to detect and destroy targets with a low observable radar signature is basically ZERO. S400 is literally nothing more than a fancy stationary MANPAD, however i think a MANPAD might still be arguably more capable since I've seen Ukraine shoot many different russian cruise missiles out the sky with them.

Nothing indicates that its a Russian SA system. The radar at the back looks like it also can be a part of a S300.... usualy these are protected by SA-15M2 and nowhere they can be found also the S400 has a much greater effective range then the ATACM therefore russia would be mad to deploy so close to the front. Iskanders have cluster ammo too and observed closely the site gets hit by 2 warheads.... indicative of a Iskander missile. The other unusual thing is the footage from the drone. Ukranian drones would be very hard pressed to get so close to such a HVT. But I maybe wrong.....
