Back in February of 2023, Estate360 teased an upcoming auction on their TikTok page. It took them two months, but the auction is finally live. There are a few pieces in here I wouldn't mind owning, but unfortunately, it doesn't look like these were stored in the most ideal location as the cases were quite dirty and many of the guitars have finish checking indicating moisture damage.
I also personally really hate auctions with "soft closes" meaning, if a guitar gets a bid in the final minutes, it keeps going until people stop bidding. This is definitely more so for the seller's benefit rather than the buyers! So for that reason, bid your best price and forget about!

I am seventy four years old. I had started collecting guitars after Woodstock 69'.I was a roofer and I played blues. Every penny I had went to guitars. Mainly 50's electric Gibson's. I had 160 of the finest guit-fiddles I could find. Trying to keep it quietly done became a bit tough. By 1974 I had way too many people calling me for these classics too buy or sell. Went quiet. Sold only to collectors and one sales guy. I do not like speculators. I advertised to buy in city and college newspapers around the USA. I had six Gibson sunbursts at one time. I sold many of the guitars I had. I still have a handful of these wonderful music machines. I never bought a guitar for over fifteen hundred dollars. That style of hunting guitars will not work today. I loved it. I am retired now. Thank you guitar lovers for giving me so much to live for.

I heard a story of a guy back in the 70s calling every music store in the country. He asked if they had a 50's Flying V to sell and he found one . He was able to buy it.

As always the bizarre logic of the current market is: Real aging of actual vintage equipment = the price goes down. Counterfeit/Fake aging of new equipment from the Murphy Lab = the price is quadrupled. Makes 0 sense.

I've got a 74 355 Gibson in pretty much the same shape as that Birdland when I got it. It had sat in a case undisturbed under a bed for 25yrs or more without being opened. Believe it or not, despite the corrosion everything works and works without scratchy noises. Pots are smooth and quiet as is the variatione. I was able to get most of the green off too. The finish under where the pick guard used to be (only scraps of it were left) was pretty much shot but it just adds to the mojo and one day I plan to put a new guard on anyways.

I once met a man who was liquidating a friends deceased husbands collection. There were at least 70 guitars and about 30 amps. The prices were dirt cheap for the time( 20 years ago) but I was young and broke. I did get a nice Rivera amp but I should have picked up at least one of the les Paul customs. Now that I know what I know about there value I kick myself for not shelling out the 1200 bucks. Oh well we all have the one that got away.

The firebrand sg is probably around 1980. A friend had this guitar he bought it in 1980. I noticed after he bought it Gibson discontinued this model. It was Gibson attempt to release a lower cost option. Sold for around $400 brand new in 1980.

Wow I am a big Gibson EB-0 fan, my first bass was a 66 EB-0. Dad bought it for me at 13 used in 1976 and I thought I new every year and type. I think around 71-72 they had the slot headstock. Never saw a melody maker EB-0 still have mine and would love that bass but I don't have Trolgy money.

That Fretless Victory Artist Bass: yes, that was a factory option. I have the Victory Artist bass (fretted), purchased new. The difference between Victory Bass and Victory Artist Bass, is the latter has two pickups, and active electronics by Moog, but also works passively if the batteries are dead. Oh man so many guitars to speak of !...The Melody Maker Bass in Pelham Blue is very unique with the slotted headstock, The Byrdlands are beautiful , the Silver fade LP is incredible !, never been a fan of the ' RD ' but the second one is pretty cool the way it aged , and the Lavender Sparkle LP tis cool of course....seeing the pic of all those cases & amps makes my blood pressure go up BA-BOOM !!...Thank Veddy Mucho Trogly !!

Now I’m curious how much my Voodoo V is worth and how many were made - mine’s from the original run with the snakeskin case, but has a headstock repair (stable and well repaired). The V hardly ever seems to come up.

That leatherback guitar is a vintage mahogany LP studio from the mid 2000s. Has a thin satin nitro finish and a mahogany top I think Gibson sold a lot of these and also had variations of the same type of guitar later, with maple tops and I think even maple necks. The early ones were made of fewer pieces of wood and the later ones were clearly put together with several smaller pieces. I’m guessing that one was purchased to play, that it cost around $900 new, and now might be worth about $600 to $700 with the mods. It looks like it’s in good shape other than the back of it I have one I bought in 2005 that is a very fine example. Time to snap some leather on the back!

Saw 3 I'd love to have but wouldn't sell them if I managed to acquire them. This was really interesting to go through and hear a collectors point of view of them. Not a collector. Player and admire Gibson Les Paul guitars. Some of the SGs I really like too. Had a Gibby back in 70s and a 59 Tele. Both stolen and never could afford to replace them. So,.. love seeing them on this channel.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It must be the worst feeling in the world to have some scumbag steal your babies from you. How did they even get stolen? Was it at a gig or out of your car? You have to be so careful. Especially with your guitars. Hope you get reunited with them one day. Maybe you could reach out to Mr.Trogly and see if he could help track them down. Do you have serial numbers?

@@thorndog100 Was at a gig and I was very young too. My Dad had bought me the Fender with a 100 wt, one 12, Silvertone amp. He only paid $200 for both from a much older man that simply couldn't play anymore. It was a semi-hollow body with an F-hole, mother of pearl pickguard, very few scratches, one ding and was pink of all things, lol. (my Dad was colorblind and didn't know, haha) It had a couple of distinguishing marks I remember. Two ink stains. One larger than the other on the back. It looked like ink from one of those old price stampers grocery stores used way back in the day. Slightly blued. The sound was beyond fantastic! Grabbed you by the soul and shook it. Have only that sound live a very few times in my life. My buddy's Fender Mustang was stolen at the same time. We were devastated. Saw my Tele in the Doo Wop Shop front window about 3 months later for $6,995. Tried to get it back but,.. couldn't prove it was mine. Didn't write down the serial numbers! Will never forget that one. Not ever. Disabled single parent of twin teenage girls now so,.. I'd never be able to get that back again. Even if I found it. Today that guitar is probably 40 or 50 grand for all I know. This is why I watch this channel. Love Les Paul and Teles! He shows them all eventually on here. Sorry for rambling. Some things this old man can't let go. Only have wannabe guitars now. Beats a zero though,.. right?

Fascinating! And now Gibson has come up quite a bit in my book as a creative/artistic guitar company (or at least they were...for quite a while) what with those monthly specials with gorgeous finishes and 'cuts' that are new to me, like 'Florentine. The GOTW Week 21 SG3 is a cool guitar. I had one. They have some major problems with the lacquer lifting on the fret ends. Really bad.

Anyone collecting guitars should take note, while looking at this auction, of the importance of properly storing your collection. This collection is really cool but darn, It doesn't seem like this person kept everything in a stable environment. Lots of patina on the chrome of the guitars and lots of surface checking on most also. I think the collection was stored in a coastal region of california. Oh well, i guess it happens.

I make sure to open up all of my Nitro finished guitars for at least a day or two, each year, to allow the gasses to dissipate. I also keep them above freezing at all times, so a storage locker is out of the question. These have all been frozen, likely, many times over, which looks cool, but drastically reduces their values. Such a shame, because resale value is the only real reason to buy so many guitars that you will never play.

Where in California was this auction held? Sales tax in California ranges. California tax rate is 7.25%, but depending on what jurisdiction, it can increase that rate, so it matters as to the specific location.

Been watching this estate all week, that artisan has been on my list but just bought a 1962 strat with gold hardware and ever since I’ve had to dampen my guitar acquisition syndrome. I have a Epiphone by Gibson Firebird 500. My uncle was a guitar tech for some pretty famous people, (Rik Emmett, Corey Hart, and a few others). He wrote to the Custom Shop in Nashville, and they sent him back a note that said Firebird 500 Korea '84-'86. Maybe '86-'88. It has a Steinberger floating bridge, and there is no serial number anywhere on it. I'll never sell it due to the sentimental value to me. He gave me a '64 Epiphone Casino for my 11th birthday, and he is the reason I am still a musician 39 years later. I've never been able to find anything on line about a Firebird 500. When I search for it, the search results just tell me about Firebirds that are 500 dollars, lol. Any ideas about what this guitar is all about? Its in great condition, and I've never played it on stage due to fear of anything happening to it. Any info would be great. Love the channel. Old guitars, old cars and old wine just keep getting better.

Where in California? for 10 guitars would be $3,000 for packing and shipping. For 20 guitars, I could buy a truck and deliver them. I would do that nation wide for 1/2 of that. Those fees are crazy high
