Huge Hedge Trimming Job | Time Lapse

Helping out the Grand Parents by taking some 3'-4' top off of this 15" hedge! Had a lot of fun doing it but the GoPro battery died at the end so I couldn't get a full Time Lapse of the job, o well maybe next time. Since we were on their property, all of the branches were transported with the Kawasaki Mule (My Grandpa's) to his burn pile which saved a lot of time and space in the truck.

That was clever using the truck to stand on. Beats using a ladder. We have the PAS-266 with most of the attachments. We use it all the time and love it. Good job

Good job. I just ordered 20 Nellie R. Stevens Holly's. Do you know the spacing of those plants when your Grandparents planted them? Did they plant them next to a fence of any kind? I am planting mine against a 6' chain link fence, and I am curious how close to the fence I should plant them.
@ahwuang
@ahwuang 5 лет назад
Sir, I saw you were using a chainsaw. Re whether I can use the chainsaw to cut the hedge, I got the following answer from my neighbour: Cutting small "multiple" branches found in a cedar hedge can be very very dangerous. The issue is called "kickback". This is where the teeth of the chain get caught in branches which then forces the chainsaw back at you. It's very unpredictable and dangerouse. Even with all my years manufacturing chainsaws it is something I would never do.

I just had a job similar to this after buying my Stihl kombi 94. I also used the 3ft. extension. Luckily we just put the trimmings in a big pile for customer to burn later. My problem is when i get jobs that need the brush removed from property. I have nowhere to get rid of the stuff. Where do you guys get rid of the brush?
@dpd16790
@dpd16790 8 лет назад
you'll end up having to get a dumpster and pay to get rid of stuff if you have to haul it off from the job site.. ya just gotta make sure to charge enough to come out because dumping them things are not cheep.. if you have enough work to justify spending 1000 to 1500 a month on disposal it might be wort looking into buying a small piece of land and getting a wood chipper.. may be a way to make your own mulch too...
@luis4210
@luis4210 5 лет назад
Lol no need to buy land, drive the load to waste management, it costs $10 for a small load and the most $35 for a heavy packed load, charge the customer for disposal

That is a killer job! I've got two hedges that flank each side of my backyard. They're "fortune tea olives" that I try to keep about 9 feet high. I'm using a Shindaiwa M242 mutli tool with an articulating hedge trimmer cutting head, but it's still a chore, especially cutting hedges up on a ladder. But I can't imagine doing it for a hedgerow as long as your Grandparents, up on a ladder, in the bed of a truck! That's awesome. - Christopher. P.S. If you're curious how a NON-professional landscaper does it, you can see my youTube video about it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YNvyYKlr2Pk.html. Thanks again.

@AmbrosLandscapingInc
@AmbrosLandscapingInc 7 лет назад
Jordan Robinson since we are cutting 4-5' from the top we needed to use a chainsaw since the limbs are anywhere from 2-4"....so to answer your question yes we are using a chainsaw attachment haha
@HexaFox
@HexaFox 7 лет назад
lol. You did not have to justify it, I was just curious. I honestly hate it when a customer wants something shortened up like this. Especially when it is something like a Holly Tree.
@AmbrosLandscapingInc
@AmbrosLandscapingInc 7 лет назад
Ya I agree, especially when it can damage the shrub or tree. But these leyland cypress trees are really hardy..they grew back fast. My grandparents wanted them shorter since they were getting to high to maintain the top.
@HexaFox
@HexaFox 7 лет назад
Yeah I was just trimming up a Holly Tree and the customer wanted about three feet removed from the height of it. After making the cut (with a chainsaw, lol) I realized it was about a four to five inch cut so it looks horrible. It is a Holly Tree so I am certain it will recover. I have never dealt with anything like this Holly Tree, they are just a plain bitch and I was not prepared.
