We went to the Galapagos and had lunch our first day there at a wonderful little outdoor restaurant in April. Yesterday I started processing my iPhone photos in LR which I had not used in 10 years (long story, I am 71 with an 8 yo and a 10 yo, go figure). LR popped up and asked if I would you like to add the new AI feature. Well sure, why not. The picture of my kids at lunch was great but the straw from my daughters drink was right in front of her nose. Well lets give it a try, said I. On the third try I removed the straw from her beautiful nose. Then said I lets get rid of my beer. Not only did it remove the beer it revealed the candy behind the beer. I did not even know it was there. My mind was blown, and I am a programmer and a physicist. It is so easy to use. Today I found you and validation. Keep up the good work and make more videos. Very good training video. You are so used to doing things with a brush you do that here, but it's not required to paint things, you just need to go around the edges or cover the entire object with the proper sized brush. I never used PS but am really impressed with this feature in LrC and have been using it a fair bit before I saw your clip here. I do a lot of bird photography & this new feature is great for removing branches & twigs.

What about the resolution of the generated image? I work on high quality photos, the generative content on Photoshop looks like a blurry crap as it has 1024px restrictions. There are ways to deal with it by creating actions in ps to generate it in small, combined selections. If Lightroom cannot do that than I will still stick with Photoshop

This tool doesn’t replace PS in no way. If you work with hi res pictures you can clearly see even on 50% view noise patterns mismatches. You can fix it in PS, but not in ACR. So yeh, for quick fix for instagram it works. For serious work - totally not

This hardly eliminates the need for Photoshop. There are so many features available in Photoshop that Lightroom doesnt have. What I really wish for is for the ACR Lightroom masking features like (select person...) to be transferable to Photoshop so I can use those masks with all the features of Photoshop.

You can. Reload ACR as a filter in the filter menu.

@@rongough6636 To be clear, if I create a mask of just the face using ACR in Lightroom then when I open it in Photoshop and go to ACR the mask will be there? I created a thread on the official adobe website and a ton of people are saying how much they would also like this feature. If what you're saying is true they would all be happy to hear.

This was a very good presentation of this new feature as I've held in to a few problem photos for several years which now have solutions. LRC just keeps getting better. I'm not sure that PS will devolve at all.

Splendid video, Kristina! Lr is amazing now with "remove" and "lens blur". One question: in the "remove" tool, in the "mode" section, how does the "clone" tool work compared to the others? How do you choose an area to clone from? Alt+click doesn't seem to work. Thanks again for the clear instructions.

There is a much easier way to add multiple removes over top of each one than your section for Pro Tip for adding another generative. Just change the drop down for "Tool Overlay" to Never. Then you can simply just do another on top of another without any of what you described in that section. Much, much easier!
