I've seen quite a few of these Street vendors that melt the cheese like that and these people did the shittiest job with the cheese they were giving a lot of food but not even enough cheese to wipe your ass with that's ridiculous waste of money.....
I've seen on several videos that it can be served on top of potatoes, ham, gherkins, bread. Looks simple but must be filling - either as a snack or meal in itself.

I dont get the craze with this. You literally go to any grocer right now, buy and type of cheese you want, melt it in a microwave or stove top, then put it on whatever you want. People are impressed with the simplest of concepts.
It's a swiss and french tradition. Raclette is a very unique tasting cheese, and the things it is served with are specifically curated to cater to its taste. It's the difference between wagyu steak and a burger patty from mcdonalds.
You can always make it according to your traditions. I don't think this would be halal as it is in UK and doesn't seem to be an Arabic/Middle Eastern food outlet.
