Huge New Building Our Parts Stash!!! 

As someone with OCD, I can’t stand when my belongings are spread across the four winds. Congratulations on being able to have everything in one area finally.

Watching the time lapse, I keep waiting for it to go black, for night time…but it didn’t. WOW they are pretty fast!! Congratulations on the new building, so cool! Bite the bullet, and get a heated floor, even if you don’t hook it up right away, it’ll be well worth it in the long run.

I suggest a toilet room, floor drains and maybe a couple of service sinks.

That's great !! the Amish are fantastic workers !! Question; are you putting heat in the floor air conditioner, are you adding a second floor for smaller parts ? 25 years ago I put up a pole barn 60' x 80' and put heat in the floor , best decision I ever made this is exciting guys . Is it going to stay mail order only or will customers be able to come to a counter and bug Mr. Mike ? Haha very happy for you men . This is great 👍

I had an Amish crew build me a similar sized building a couple years ago, 3 days start to finish. You won't regret it. Everyone who does it says they wish they'd done it earlier, or made it bigger, never that they wish they'd waited, or made it smaller.

many bird species simply build a new nest once they find their current one uninhabitable. :) of course the final solution is to install an inviolate rule: something must be permanently removed from the premises before an item of similar size and weight is permitted entrance.

Love it !! Doing a horseshoe shaped loft? If so, have two stair cases on opposite ends. Heat under concrete floor would be nice. Also couple of drains in floor. I’m sure you have the proper plan. Good Luck.

Just a thought about keeping that building warm. Insulation and in floor heating. Best type of heat for winters. Keeps the place at 60 degrees underfoot and the heat loss is very minimal when you open the large doors. They work well and efficiently for that large space. This is really the time to consider before the concrete is put in. Great addition to your space issues! Keep up the cool videos guys!

The first video I watched was you showing everyone around the first shop on the property. This new building does make sense. If it's laid out properly you may find you have more room than you think. Plus like you said Mike will be close at hand.

You will be amazed what will fit in there if you put pallet racking around the entire perimeter and put everything on pallets so you can pull it off with a forklift

When you have the concrete poured in the new barn, do you plan to carry that out and around to the front of the existing garage to create a big (okay, really big😉) apron for the working garage? I'd think having a smooth, hard, flat surface from the front of the storage barn to the working garage would make it a lot easier to push parts, engines and cars back and forth between the two.

Getting rid of the rent is smartest thing you boys could do. outside pallet racks with a roof screwed to em would be handy for some parts

Congratulations on the new building! You should have a door across fron the side door of the garage and build a covered, enclosed connector between the two buildings to stay out of the weather.

That crew was so fast! You should get a scissor jack so it's easier to get things to the upper shelves or to a second level.

I've wondered if your property was zoned for commercial, I guess this answers the question. 🙂 I can see one of those little high lift warehouse stacker/forklift things in your future, for moving parts on and off pallet racking. Also, this may be an ambitious long term goal thing, but getting some sort of computerized inventory system in place in the future is probably going to be necessary at some point, now that your inventory has grown so large. Someone else mentioned holding a big garage sale to get rid of unnecessary parts...while it would be great to find a home for every little part, at some point it takes more time than it's worth. Unfortunately you can't save everything from the scrap pile.

Wow, that's really cool, Matt! The first thing I thought when I saw the thumbnail is why didn't you put a big garage door that faces the driveway/existing garage?? (To the left of the man door.) The big one (12x10?) you have on the corner now is great for load ins and outs. But at the 18:23 mark, you touched on the main reason why (I think) you should have an additional garage door that faces the existing garage/driveway. It would greatly help traffic flow between the two buildings. Even a small 9x7 would be fine.

A few things to consider in your planning: How will you utilize the space between the two buildings? The present warehouse is well lit, with lots of windows. How will you light the new space to make it useable? Ventilation and heating need to be comfortable if Mike will spend much of his work day in there, You have probably considered all this already, it can't hurt to go over it again, and protect this huge investment.
