The RC wheelbase is long and narrow, so it looks like it will easily fall over when cornering, but I was wrong. The engine sound is so nice to hear. This is a great video.👍👍👍
Does look long and narrow and like it would fall over more, think due to being rear wheel drive and the weight being at the back it helps just make the rear end slide round, do plan on extending the rear width though. Engines do sound sweet,. Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed 👍👍
@@blacksheeprc8113 electric 1/5 is great fun but drains batterys faster than anything ive ever had most foams tyres and beadlocks dont like the extra power either😂
I've had a Rovan for ages. I upgraded minor parts to HPI, as well as the chassis and shocks. Rovan shocks in the early days were god awful. I've never had an issue with it. Zenoahs are an awesome engine, and the only difficult choice is, what muffler you end up going with. Run the motor in properly, and check every nut and bolt after running, and you'll be set.
Thanks, they engine came out the Losi 5t that we put the OBR into so its been run in nicely already, not sure on the muffler yet, just know it needs to be a side pipe. Thanks for all the tips 👍👍
My roommate bought the hpi racing FORD GT40 race car rtr. Couldn't keep it straight to even reach the advertised 70 mph speed out of the one ten rc. Then to top it off, our local rc store doesn't carry parts for hpi cars. They look great but they are more costly and almost no parts support.
Sadly not many cars every hit the claimed top speed, I'm sure they took the number out that same book can manufactures use to make up the miles per gallon 😂 sadly as well not manly local shops ever carry many spares, normally spares comes down to ordering online which sucks, or the local shop will say we can get in for next week
Thank you and thank you for the subscription. We still like the brushless cars, but the gassers just give something different and certainly bring you into the experience a lot more
Mark's reaction to the dirt on his car was great!!! 😂😂 Are you ears still ringing after all of that beautiful Petro music?!?! Everytime I see the Baja at my local shop I want to leave with one. One of these days I will. Great video Dave 👊👊👍👍
LOL, it was a picture, wasn't deliberate either, just me with my heavy trigger finger 😂 these ones sound louder on camera than they are in real life, but the big bores, damn that are LOUD. When does you Big Big Big boy turn up ?
@@HardcoreRC Mark's reaction was awesome and I'm sure all in good fun. Is that a Focus ST? Yeah those big bores really sound crazy and I'm sure even crazier in person. Still looks to be on track for this January and I can't wait. I've received a few emails from Primal RC and I did get my number since the collector's edition is limited to only 200. 😁😁👊👊👍👍
I love my rovan Baja! 1/5 scale gas is a blast and just a whole different ball game. I don’t think there’s a better bang for your buck rc made than the rovan Baja.
Yep its crazy that you can get this Rovan Baja for the same price that a Arrma 4s car costs in the UK, its does put the big "named" manufactures to shame
My favorite RU-vid channel "HardcoreRC" However, there has been no video update for two weeks. What's going on? Always take care of your health and look forward to video updates. Have a nice day.👍
Thank you for your kind words. Sorry there hasn't been any videos, i have been struggling with a neck issue that has stopped me sitting in front of my PC editing of an evening, was hoping to get one done for this week but have now been taken ill and been in bed the last 3 days. Hopefully get back to doing some editing soon. Stay safe and have a great Christmas
Order my Taylor 35 last week and still not come yet says tomorrow now so fingers crossed got few more parts to buy for my Baja so nothing brakes when the 35 is it in all will be uploaded
Those 30.5 engines ain't too bad. I have one in my king motor x2. I was surprised how well it ran for a stock engine in a knock off truck of the 5ive-t.
Indeed - i sold it to someone that is running it in a 30DN 2.0 5ive-T clone, goes very well if i didnt already have a Zenoah 32cc sitting doing nothing i likely would have just kept the 30.5 but selling it just saved me money
Loved my Rovan, unfortunately I made the mistake of spunking over £500 making mine electric, all the fun was sapped out of it so I sold it. Defo plan on buying another for next summer though only this time I'll be keeping it petrol😁 If I could make a suggestion, buy the front under chassis front strengthening plate(it's a bit of a weak spot if like me you cartwheel it in a crash)change the hubs for the wider ones(no circlips)and change the tires for the pioneer one's (I think that's what they're called?from RCmodelz) Also at the same time I owned mine 2 of the lads had HPI baja's and we all agreed the Rovan, believe it or not, seemed to have tougher parts ie arms, drive shafts to name just a few. Incidentally,my old one has been for sale on eBay for a few months under the guise as a 'rare hpi baja electric' Not by me though I'd like to add Lol
That's a shame, i think its the noise and smell that sucks you into the experience, have two friends that hat Losi 5t brushless and whilst they are fast its just not the same, they are missing the experience. Yes i put a Innovative RC front under chassis brace on, also will put a top brace on as well as have seen what can happen 😂. Axel extenders are on the shopping list, just wasn't sure which ones to get and if just the rear or the front as well, will have a look for the pioneer tyres. Hopefully you can another one in the summer and enjoy the sweet sound of the petrol engine
Yes run kills switch on all of them, first thing we fit, and also set the failsafe. Use Dynamite Kill switch on two of the cars and Super Bee on the other
the 32cc has more power, likely a slight difference due to the wet and muddy conditions. but we intend to gear it up so the extra power from the 32 will be needed. The 30.5cc looked like a nice Engine, just a prefer the Zenoah and sold the 30.5 for a good price
Interesting issue here: if hpi is so expensive, will they quickly stop production, bin the parts support and leave their most faithful customers on ice YET Again?
That is a very good question, although from what i can tell all the Rovan king motor etc parts fits anyway and there is a ton of after market parts for them. Just don't get where the hug price difference comes from
That was in Dagenham dont go out with them all the time as have other cars we run and places we go etc, this is the facebook page for the group that run here though: facebook.com/groups/431376228022326
@HardcoreRC aaaahhh nice, yeah not to far from me then about an hour away.. I see you went to the sandy place over in sandy on 1 of your videos, do you go there quit often do you.. OK awesome ill have a look now on that group
@@darrensmith9606 I live down in Kent so drive around a lot, never really know where were going until the night before when we see what others are doing and who to go out with
@HardcoreRC aaahhh right so not to far away then.. yeah we are the same, dont really know were to go with them. We use to go to wigmore park every Sunday near Luton Airport but then people stopped coming. But if you do go or find somewere let me know
I've heard that the 30.5 cc or whatever cc engine that comes in the rovan is the same engine as the Zenoah 32cc engine, for branding reasons they could not label it as 32cc from rovan but supposedly both engines are 32cc...not sure if it's true...maybe a comparison would prove otherwise...
To be fair it’s half the price because it’s less than half the quality. The hpi is better value. The aluminum and plastic is stronger the tolerances are better also the rovan engines and electronics are prone to catastrophic damage very early in their lifespan. Have patience and replace broken parts with quality upgrades and you should be fine though
Not sure its half the quality, i sold the engine and the radio so all in i have £294 in the car, that a difference of £405, thats a lot of upgrades i could add that would surpass the HPI by a long way. On the Lois 5t when the Losi plastic parts have broken i have replaced with cheaper plastic parts and have not noticed any difference in quality or fitment, from what i have learnt is the very early Rovan's there were issues, but those issues have long gone. A staright up example is the HPI comes with a plastic clutch carrier than melts, the Rovan came with a metal carrier. I guess time will tell though
@@HardcoreRC Sure wasn’t Rovan Baja is a beast and a way better value then the HPI. That sweet sound of the gassers is awesome! For the money you can’t beat it. You did? Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. I’ve been so busy lately and I’ve been lacking on editing videos but my XRT video is rendering now. Hopefully you get yours soon 👊👊👍👍
@@Addicted_2RC Kev had his yesterday as the UK importer let him have it early, looks very nice and drives like a dream, not an out and out basher like the Xmaxx but better than i thought it would be. Should pick mine up Friday
Yer nice thay are a pain in the ass to work on but after 2 or 3 time of stripping um down you find quicker ways to fix um thay are ace fun just very noisy my neighbours love me 😂😂👍
@@bsbigrcadventures2089 Its like most cars when you first work on them, doesn't take long to then know the quick way to do things, funny how neighbours have a sense of humor failure, i hear the windows and doors all get shut if i f fire one up on the garden 😂😂
Its more about the reliability, spare parts availability and ability to put a ported head on etc, also had the engine already sitting doing nothing, so sold the 30.5cc engine
Hpi is releasing the baja again i hope they release the hellfire again i miss mine the rovan one is a bit better then the hpi its the name your paying for
Actually filmed this about a month ago, just been suffering bad headaches that i hadn't been able to edit it very quickly and Friday i had a real banging headache
The Roven looks very good! Especially when compared to the price of HPI. I don’t know what’s going on with HPI these days, just overpriced old designs.
At least the actual HPI Baja is made out of quality materials. Clones is what pretty much killed HPI and many other RC companies. Never support clone companies, it only destroys quality RC parts.
I was going to get the HPI, had it on order, but then found that the quaity on all the main parts is no different so though im not paying all that extra
Curious what are the quality parts the HPI has over the Rovan, apart from the hex pins ? chassis is the same, all the plastic is the same quality. I did enquire with a lot of people and no one could say why the HPI was better quality and justified the huge price over the Rovan, would be interested to understand from your point of view
@@HardcoreRC The plastics and aluminum are vastly better quality on the actual HPI,been proven for years. China(clones) vs Tawain(HPI,and almost every other RC brand) made materials.
Hpi is not going to make it, you cant use old stock put a few dibs n dabs on it , call it new and charge premium for old tech. So far hpi has been a let down.
@@HardcoreRC lol this video was exactly how I felt about wrenching on my first baja....they make no sense when compared to the losi based platforms. Still they are hilarious fun.
@@thatoneguy2756 Indeed - it was all illogical, Losi based cars are so easy to work on, im sure it will get easier as we learn how to do it, as you say though hilarious fun the drive. Do you have more than one now ?
That's exactly what i thought and certainly the feed back I got, I sold the engine for £100 so this was actually half the price of the HPI and i would have £350 to spend on upgrades
