Hello, I’ve been using witch hazel to remove label glue and tape from items. Wet a cotton ball and let it set a minute or two. The adhesive generally comes off with my thumb nail.

Always look in EVERYTHING. Old purses, jacket pockets etc. My niece bought some land with 2 houses and a shed to tear down. She bought it sight unseen just for the lots. She was beyond pissed to see every building was filled to the ceiling by a hoarder who moved out in the 70’s. When I tell you it was a freaking treasure hunt that don’t even come close to how thrilling it was. It wasn’t a garbage hoarder, this was like an archaeological dig. The layers were divided by decades and towards the bottom was the decade they owned a small grocery store. I still have tins and pictures and stuff from the auction. The woman had some mental issues so her extended family had nothing to do with her. When they heard we were finding treasure they all of a sudden wanted to look for “sentimental” family stuff. This woman died alone so we didn’t feel any need to let them in. You had to look in EVERYTHING because even in rolled socks we would find wads of cash or silver coins. One dresser had a mouse nest, under the nest was a hanky with something in it. She started counting out the neatly rolled cash and it ended up being over $700 and all the bills were like silver certificates or something. In the shed she had a fur coat, in the pocket she had a compact and in the compact was another $100 in old cash. You had to be super careful looking though because just like finding money you were just as likely to find razor blades tossed in with everything. The attic was too tight of a squeeze (and it was hella creepy) so she had a very thin friend pop up there and the first thing he handed down was a wooden leg… there were men in the family who fought in at least 2 wars. There were even 2 items that had documenting papers with them that proved they belonged to Hitler himself. She was offered 40k for a linen cloth with the eagle emblem that was monogrammed but she decided to put it in a safe deposit box until she could decide how she felt about it. There were also items belonging to a pretty horrible clan with pictures proving we had that particular clan in our little town at one time. Wow, I’m rambling now, great memories. It was so much fun I took a week off of work just to help her dig. 😄

Been stamp collecting for 54 years. I have over a million stamps. Most of the stamps you have are fairly to very common and will not bring much money, however you should be able to get your money back and maybe some extra, depending if you find some buyers that are not serious stamp collectors.

I had that same Doll Book. You are right it was made to look old. I was a child in the 70's, so it's mid 1970's most likely. Mine did not look like that for long but it was so cool. I loved it.

Hola, Cousin. I wish you would’ve opened some of those letters. They are fun to read.

I was thinking the same thing. Would love it if he would do a separate video of reading and telling us about the content of the letters. Are they scandalous? Typical day to day activities? Specific endeavors about what they'd like to do? I find old things like this fascinating, as well as all of the pictures

I once found a group of letters at an estate sale for $2.00. I sorted them by date, oldest to newest. They told a sad story of a young teenage man who was ill with tuberculosis. He missed his mamma so much. It made me cry, but I also learned from this experience. Never take your family for granted.
