Because they don't build anything newer than 1977 model because of all the Electronics and computers, their website tells you so. Yes, this Impala was newer than 77 but they didn't do anything other than repaint it, put better brakes and wheels on it.
Why would you do this , the guy owns a car the he obviously loves and could be classed as a classic and was slowly getting back on the road and you give him something that is so far from what he has i wouldnt be happy either
I can tell that you have never put the blood, sweat and tears into a build. It's not just about having a finished product. It's about the journey to get there. It's about knowing that you built it and someone else didn't. That's why the people who build and not by are way prouder than the people who just go out and buy.
I love what they do for random people. When Chip Foose saw the father and son hug, even he couldt keep his eyes dry. Thats when you see the joy it brings them, doing these overhauls. And it made him think of his own dad.
He said they don’t do anything that new as part of the script to lead into the newer car. This group does great things for people who deserve it. He got a new car as a daily driver, he can still sell the Silverado and apply funds to his ‘79 as he sees fit. Don’t be haters.
It's not free. You pay the taxes on what the value of the car is now after all the mods. In most cases the taxes are a lot more than the cars original value and force some to sell them just to pay those taxes. I have seen it first hand happen to friends.
Does anyone remember the pilot episode? They redid a ‘88 K series truck. They just said ‘79 was too new so the guy can rebuild his car the way he wants it.
We dont usualy overhaul anyrhing that new 1979 monte... so we overhauled a 2014 impala for you instead... anyone out there see where this makes any sence? Sponsor snow job here or what?
Nope, it was a brand new car that was customized by Chip[ Foose, Can you say CHI CHING? You sell it so you can fix up both the 79 Monte and the Suburburk he was daily driving so you have 2 cool cars that you actually like.
Haven't watched the full episode, but I'm pretty sure the reason they decided to not overhaul the 79 (which I definitely remember episodes where they did newer cars like some in the 80s, 90s, and even 2000s) was because of the guy rebuilding it to his liking. While it would have been nice to have Foose overhaul the car, it wouldn't have truly been his design/build. Not to mention, this way he can have a spare car to sell for funds to help rebuild the Monte Carlo and still have a daily driver that he doesn't have to pay for.
I used to watch this show it wasn't bad at all but yet when they just told this lady they normally don't overhaul a car that old that's 100 b s a lie, they have done cars from the fifties 60s and 70s and for them to say then don't do cars that old that was a big lie
It was nice of them to overhaul and give him a newer 2014 impala. Now he can sell it for a decent amount and have more money for the Monte. Checkmate Foose 😂
I don't know I kind of agree with what they did. It's very risky to "overhaul" a car like his MC because he will be happier if he does it himself. As I understood money was the problem. Now he has two daily drivers he can sell either one to fund his Monte Carlo. I get it,, my first a was a 78 MC which is identical to the 79 except the tail lights. I had it fixed up very similar to his 79
They made the rear wheel drive high HP Chevy SS in 2014,,, if your gonna do THIS, why not at least give him that?? At least those cars will be more of a collector car than a front wheel drive 2014 Impala 🤯 He would have had fun with a Chevy SS,,,,,they are extremely hard to find these days!
The car looks nothing like the rendering, those wheels look awful, I would 100% like the chevy wheels it came with! The stance , wheels looks nothing at all like the rendering ,,I would tell Chip Foose please tell me you can put the chevy wheels back on, I would totally be embarrassed to drive this car because of those awful looking wheels!
i guess he can continue to work on his own car at his own pace, but isn't this show about taking on a project that needs help, not here's a new car smh lol
Happy they did not touch his car. I would have been floored if I was him because if you're not turning your own wrench's and someone else does the work then it's not really your car.
What a joke .. Impalas are trash! They made it look worse! Big brakes but stock ride height on those terrible foose wheels...really screwed him g body would be worth about 10 times Impala by now
I feel overhaul has just become partners which GM and just clearing out old inventory. Chip foose this was a terrible episode over Holland is about taking a person's personal car and overhauling that not overhauling a newer car and still have the classic in the same condition as in the beginning terrible episode if you guys are going to continue to do this you guys going to lose viewers as I am right now not going to watch anymore
