I've never had a pan like that at Coos Canyon/East Branch, nice job! Your videos just seem to get better and better as time goes on, I truly enjoy them. The humor is great, the nature shots are wonderful, and they feed the prospecting fire burning in my soul!
Just came across your channel while researching for our up coming road trip in 2023. You 2 are brilliant and look forward to catching up on your adventures. Greetings from over the pond here in the UK.
I also have the Sona Riffel mat cool. I didn't glue them in either. Is better for rinsing. The nugget looks like a saxophone * laughs. Wow, that was a lot of gold. Thank you for sharing . Greetings Peter 👍
An excellent video tonight, fellas!! Loved the special “nature scenery” and the music selections…..plus all the gold- wow!! Have a terrific rest of the week! 👍🐝💖
Where's all the GOLD?!! I live in Maine and have never seen any in the 42 years of my life. I wanna find a ship full of gold and rare gems like they found in "The Goonies."
You'll have to go to Hollywood for that. In Maine, if you start looking now in the right place you may find a nugget right away....or it could take you 10 years...or never....It all depends on knowing where to look. I suggest starting in the brooks and streams around Byron Maine and Rangely Maine. Swift river, Sandy River, south bog stream, or any other stream or river in the area.
Very nice boys! Love the gold and love the hype! Everything happens for a reason. Happy that person was at your original spot. Sweet Captain Hook picker. Sure is a beautiful place. Great video boys! 🤘😁🤘⛰⛏🇨🇦
hey just wanted to say thanks for honey and honey straws they are great my name is dennis i was camping on bog dam road the next campsite up on the river very nice to meet you guys
very nice gold! after watching these videos i'm wanting to go panning down here in cumberland county in any stream/brook I can find until my next trip to rangeley lol
Thank you for your teaching method. My wife and I are retired and have a lot of free time. We watch you every day. When new ones aren’t available, we watch the ones we have seen before.
Amazing show guys 🎉 Super good pan and those chunky bits were super nice! Friends and relatives in CA with those fires very close. Hope to see you out there soon ❤️❤️❤️
Great video guy's that was definitely a great first bucket I'm glad you like the sluice box I tried making it so it could be a really fast cleanout it looked like Wes had the sluice ready to go again in under a minute
Awesome first pan Guy's, nice job. I'm looking to book a site at Coos canyon campground during Labor day to do some prospecting. Wes, could you please tell me what was the name of the road you where parked on. Nice new addition to you and Tom's group having the Hip Bee, he's quite a corrector.
Wes, you didn't show us the Gold dance that found that good. Tom, I loved the Cheeto's shirt. Nothing wrong with that dinner. Looked awefully good to me.
Any suggestions on creeks around the Waterville/Kennebec area? By the way, love your name. My hubs & family call me Doobie because I was a huge fan of the Do-Bee Bee on Romper Room 100 years ago. Plus my sisters were teenagers (I was a late accident🥴) & they thought they were being cute. But to this day my husband of 28yrs calls me Doobie. New sub too!
Great video guys! I didn’t think I’d ever get a chance to prospect up in Maine as it’s a bit far from me and I tend to stay in my area of central Vermont, but I have a work trip coming up in a couple weeks and I have a full days drive on the way back to myself. So I was checking out some prospecting videos based on Maine. Are you in the vicinity of the Coos Canyon rest area? I’m obviously not asking you to give up your exact location. Just wondering if you’re in that vicinity. I’ve only got about four hours to prospect and I’m just trying to increase my chances to catch some color. 🙏🤝 I’ll definitely be stopping in the gem shop picking up some paydirt and checking out some of those huge nuggets!!
@@hipbeeexplorer thanks so much for the tips! I’ll definitely stop in the shop. I saw your other video and really want to have a look at the Maine gems and nuggets!! I’ll be making the stop in Byron on my way back from Showhegan on Saturday July 27, maybe I’ll catch you and say hi!👋
I don't think I will ever actually get to the East Coast but you guys allow me to see the beautiful parts that I would visit. Thanks for the adventure.
Send me an e-mail to wesperron@aol.com. Let me know where and we'll see if we can work something out...Of course if we find any gold we will let you keep it as long as we can film.
I've been hunting on the Swift closer to Mexico recently.. I only have a cheap metal detector and homemade gold pan.. I'm poor as hell 😆. It's still fun though but I never find anything. Glad to see you got gold out of the swift tho cause that means its in there waiting to be found!
Try further north. The nuggets get dropped out in the pools so there is mostly fine gold down near Mexico. You can also focus on bedrock and cracks in the bedrock. Check them with a metal detector. Thanks for watching.
Gosh I hope you are OK!!? I fell a few times before I had to have both knees replaced. I feel your pain!! I will have to go up and see if I can find some better gold then tunnel brook.
Want to bring my 10 yr old son and 6 yr old daughter in a 71 winnie 24'. I live in Rockland could you give me any insight as to where is some close to the river camping?
I would be curious how much you can earn gold panning on an average per hour basis. As I understand it a person just can't earn as much as a minimum wage job on average most of the time so if I can't have fun doing this as a pastime, it's probably not for me. I would also be curious if you get a better yield at places with Gold in their name. Such as the Gold Brook next to Gold Brook Road on the Canadian border near the Kibby wind farm.
Most prospector don’t do it for the money. There are much easier ways to make money. If it’s called gold brook there may be a reason but keep in mind there are hundreds of gold brooks.
I don't think I would have gotten that much gold by just panning. It's all about how much you run and a pan is to slow. I use a dream mat now and I've tested it to see how well it catches gold. I ran a bucket of dirt with 5g of gold in it and caught all but a few small flakes. Here is a link to that video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0dtMYqK_25c.html I think most people lose a bit panning too. To me it's all about how much material I run and a sluice box allows me to run more material. Thanks for watching my friend.
Yes it is. This is a mat with the ruffles built in. As you can see it works really good catching the fine gold. Since then I have switched to a dream mat which also has no riffles and it was outstanding in tests. Watch the video where I test the dream mat
Yes, That is correct. We had a discussion about this in the past. The original word is a native American word meaning "Pine trees" which are prevalent near the canyon but most people don't use that pronunciation anymore. Many people including those who live there and Rosey at the Gift shop and The Owners of the Coos Canyon Campground all pronounce it Cooz...so to avoid confusion we do as well. If we pronounced it kOh-ahss many people would not know where we are talking about so we go with the most prevalent pronunciation. Like many word's Pronunciations they get changed over time. Thanks for watching.
You cannot dig on the banks of the Swift River, or any river, in the White Mountains it is, against the Law, just ask them in the store. I wish I could.
The landowner can dig with a shovel anywhere on his property and give permission to anyone they choose without any federal permits. On the swift we have permission from the land owners to prospect and the prospectors agree not to dig in the banks.
I would have commented on one of your videos but I notice you don't have any and you are not a video creator at all....but thanks for your opinion anyway.
Then skip over the beginning. I do because i can only hear the same song so many times. Nothing against wes and tom as i do enjoy the videos...but thats the good thing about youtube, if you dont want to watch something you skip over it or find a new video...you lack some tact sir
