The first view of the tunnel looked almost layout like. I'd love to see inside the old portal on the left. 24:24 An old CNR F unit. Incredible. As always, a visual treat.
Those 6300 numbered locomotives are true workhorses. They have a thankless job helping those trains up and down grades continuously. That last manifest train had it all.The extra shots of the boneyard were nice. Thanks for posting the footage.I wouldn't rate it "B" footage.Thumbs up!!!!!!
When I was a child part of the lure of the freight trains was how friendly the engineers and Caboose men were. (Northern N.E.) J.T. Excellent shots Dynamic Video. Thank You!!
the 1st train had 2 little locomotives leading and the others are big locomotives. i like when little locomotives lead long trains. and the little locomotives are rear DPUs. another impressive thing about this catch. love the horn on the 2nd train
I remember staying at Tunnel Inn back in September of 2011. What a thrill it was to be able to watch NS freights roll by there. I hope to go back to Altoona someday... but with my health having been a bit of a 'train wreck' since late 2018, I don't know if it will ever happen.
SD40 leaders on the stack train, and the D8-40C standard cab in the power consist on the manifest. Then those old EMD F-units at the yard. Good work as always.
I saw that woman behind you licking out her tongue! So there! 😝😝😜😛 I did it back! Haha! 😅🤣 This was a wonderful video saved to playlist. I like long trains & SOME were going at high speed hauling butt! But too bad the far left tunnel is closed up! They should open it and run another railroad through it so there can be a third track. Then railfans can see three trains at once. I like the brand new black engines. You all do such a great job catching these trains! I enjoy seeing engines on the end of trains as well. I hope you catch more long & fast trains, It's a BIG HIT. Thanks for sharing! 👍😊
Nice long live action on the NS line!!! I understand Red Gum will be taking over operations at Jaw Tooth Motion Pictures some day. I hope he'll be up to the task. It's gonna take broad shoulders. Just a tremendous responsibility!!!! Wuuuuuuuuuu!!!
back in 1990, We were at this exact spot. shooting Conrail. back then their were 2 separate tunnels as viewed, you can see the second tunnel on the left, which is now blocked up. back then the tunnel here only single track width. back then, the helpers/pushers were ex-EL SD45-2s.
Thanks for being out there. No trains within 50 miles in my neck of the woods. Loved the manifest; my favorites. Containers and oil trains are boring 😊. Happy Thanksgiving. Anthony
Hand outta the window says it all ! That's some video crew you've amassed Jawtooth ! Must be a top spot for filming ? Love the bell in the tunnel too ! Be interesting to view all of the different viewpoints off this video -ill have a look round . Regards
Great video as always. I know exactly where this tunnel is at lol. Have you ever been to Christiansburg Virginia? There is a tunnel there that truly unusual and only 1 way to get to it to watch the trains
Drive by the signs to gilitzen tunnel whenever we go out to the curve. Never stop, we are going to have to make a trip here. Thank you for shoeing the tunnel inn. A place we will look into staying. A lot of cool catches. The Amtrak train was cool from the overhead shot. Another great video
The rising gradient direction in that old single bore tunnel on the left of your shot must have been a scene from Hades on the footplate of a steam loco.
Very cool that the engineers acknowledge all of you. Will you be able to get any videos of CP’s Christmas Train? I think it will be here around Nov 30th in the downriver area. I want to say Allen Park or somewhere around there.
24:10 What are these, mobile homes on end beam flatcars, crew quarters if I'm seeing them right? 24:17 Is this a train scrapyard, or repair facility or what? it'd be very interesting to me to see a video of what that place is, and what it's purpose is! I would not be worried if it's a scrapyard or train graveyard, railroads have to deal with ongoing rolling stock changeovers and end of life equipment storage and rebuilding or scrapping. Lastly, where is the other end of the tunnel? Would love to see if there's anything good at the other end the long trains come out of! :D
before anyone jumps to conclusions, that "EL" F7 is a former BLE engine that was sitting up in michigan for years. NO,repeat,,,,NO former Erie or DLW F3/ F7 survives to this day.
Awesome catches Jaw Tooth! First time I've seen Amtrak coming out of that tunnel. Get your tickets for Florida yet? Hope your mom's doing okay. It's been freezing here! Actually had to wear a long sleeve shirt the other day. Dug it out of the back of my closet. Lol! Loaded a tank car train on my channel yesterday, check it out if you can. Thanks! Cheers, Danny
Yes, that is known as the Allegheny tunnel. It was shut down in the late 80s after the Gallitzan tunnel on the right was widened and raised for double stacks and high and wides. Hope this helps👍
