If you love street food around the world, you're going to love this Sri Lankan street food tour of Colombo, Sri Lanka! Today, we're going deep into the back alleys of Colombo to enjoy tons of delicious and spicy street food!
First up, we're starting out with a famous street food of Sri Lanka, the milk chai and fish patties. AND, we found it from a TUK TUK! It was so sweet and frothy and the fish patties was also quite delicious!
Next, we're going to try another famous street food in Sri Lanka, hoppers! These are like rice flour pancakes with a little coconut milk and topped with SPICY sambal. We also had the sweet jaggery version as well!
After this, we're having some AMAZING Sri Lankan curries that you will want to fly here for! DEEP in the core of Colombo, we found a famous yet hidden curry restaurant that made a huge variety of spicy curry. This hole in the wall curry restaurant was found at No. 71, Abdul Hameet Street, Colombo. We ordered the spicy mutton brain and a delicious spicy mutton curry that were worth traveling to Sri Lanka for!
And to finish up our HUGE street food tour of Colombo, we're going to the WORLD FAMOUS Ministry of Crab! Ministry Of Crab is often ranked in the top 50 restaurants in the world, and is ranked at no. 24 best restaurant in Asia. They serve up a TON of delicious local Sri Lankan Mud Crab AKA lagoon crab. The Ministry of Crab has many different types of seafood and flavours to choose from. I really wanted to try the black pepper lagoon crab and the chili ginger prawns. They were both so DELICIOUS! Their BIGGEST crab sells as the CRABZILLA. If you're lucky, you can get the crabzilla weighing in over 2kg. It depends on availability of the fresh seafood. The day we came in, the OMG crab was available, 1.5 KG of pure joy. We also had 3 GIANT YODHA prawns, 300g each! And watching chef Dharsan cook his local Sri Lankan recipes in the kitchen was AMAZING! We got into the back kitchen to watch the huge crew at Ministry of crab cook up tons of local Sri Lankan seafood! Sri Lankan food is really underrated. It competes with any cuisine in the world. I am Pakistani but lived in a Sri Lankan community in the UK and I have to say that Sri Lankan food is in a class of its own. Competes with Pakistani food, but is completely different, has it's own unique identity 👍👍👍👍👍👍

@@nayanadewasurendra4089 Not really brother, it depends on the person who coocks it and on which part of Pakistan, for example northern Pakistan have a slightly different style of cooking our traditional dishes. Punjabis like it spicy and some oily but that depends on the person but I think our food is quite diverse and extremely delicious 😂😍💕. Lots of love to you guys and your country in general xx

in Sri Lanka people cook curry in different ways. using oil, using coconut milk and using water too. and those foods have different kind of flavors. I'm living in china and I have tasted Indian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani foods. I think Sri Lankan foods are healthy and have different flavors comparing to other three countries. another special thing is its not easy to get real flavor of spices and foods in Sri Lanka when we make it in another country coz sri lankan spices and foods are connected with the real taste of Sri Lankan foods.

I’m so happy Ting suggested Sri Lanka. Trevor tried a food that was so good he gave it the first ever 10+. My wife makes a shrimp bisque that I share this rating with. She gives me a spoon but I have to drink it til I’m full. I put the spoon down and cannot stop drinking until my body says stop. Thank you for suggesting this Ting. We all know Trevor and you are an amazing wife. He loves food and you brought him to the place he met his more than perfect 10 food. You, Ting, have got to be the most important element to his life.

Real Sri Lankan food is not that fast food you find in the Streets. Try to discover some unique Sri Lankan food. Even the hoppers you tried isn't look great. Go little into the countryside and try to find out some of Kiribath, Indi appa, lewariya, pittu, Mani pittu, helapa, keum, roti, varieties of rice and curry, Wade, munguli, kottu, you Be the visit ceylon hotel corporation restaurants where they have the real flavour..

@@truthseekingtroll3575 Truthseeking Troll actually seafood is everywhere. But down south (gale, matara,) is probably the best places. There are hundreds of small Beach restaurants along the coast. Kandy is good for authentic Sri Lankan fast food like hoppers. Roti, Pittu, ECT.. for rice and Curry every state has its own recipes. depend on spices and ingredients they are using. I'm sure you will have a great time in Sri Lanka

Despite Trevor & Assistant having double of most + biggest items etc still u could get closely same items at few other restaurants in SL w simpler table setting etc (w.out oysters ) probably for $15-20 incld desert, tea etc.my guess, as u can compare from all other vlogs prices at other many food stops. Or even in Cda&US for $40-50 at SL or Chn eateries w a bit smaller sizes.

Really nice video, but I hope you're not done with Sri Lanka 'cause this video barely scratches the surface of Sri Lankan street food. If you are hunting street food in Sri Lanka, you have got to try Koththu, the most famous street food in Sri Lanka and it is authentic to Sri Lanka. Also head over to Galle Face to try stuff like "Isso wadai", another favorite. What you eat from the tuk is actually a patty. You have got to try samosa, rolls, vegetable roti, various buns etc. as well. And there are so many sweets like Boondhi, Saruwath, Watalappam etc. and spicy Murukku mixtures, peanuts mixtures etc. Hope you are having fun in Sri Lanka and good luck! :)
