At the risk of getting booed here by all, if I was out there and those jet skis were thumping past me, I'd be pretty pissed. It's illegal to get that close. Paddle in like everyone else or find another patch. And yes, to qualify this, I wouldn't be out there as it is beyond me. But at my local break, I'll be out there having a hoot, then a bunch of jet skis would turn up and chew it all out. It happens way too often when there is an awesome break out off the island they could go and be heroes. Anyway, great video. Some classic nice Lennox waves.
These guys were mostly pro, they would be used to jet skis and the ski operators are good at what they do. Had a ski at a small break and everyone told him F off, since it was unsafe and un needed. Time and place.
Nothing like paddling your guts out, gasping for clean air and getting jet ski fumes and wake. The best waves ridden were by the surfers with the balls to make the drop unassisted.
afew of the ski drivers in this clip were putting people into the wrong places on waves at the wrong speed (far too fast) with the wrong tow assist method (slingshotting surfers in at mach 2.0). i completely understand ski assist for water safety, to drop back to the rocks at sharpes because the sweep is so heavy and ski assist to get back in because fk paddling back to boulders or going up the rocks in that size. my 2 cents but nonetheless respect to the crew out there that shit is heavy as fk.
Jet Skis are not to get any closer than 50 metres to any swimmers or surfers, that’s the law in NSW. Full props to the guys paddling in, and thumbs down to guys being towed in, most of them could barely surf.
10 points for the surfers who paddled in, 0 for the kooks towing. I surfed up the beach that day and scored sick pits also, a couple dudes towed way down the beach out of the way.
@@YeetMusic Hey m8, I don't just like it, I fkn love it m8, it's brilliant footage U got & I'll be honest Ive watched it like 7-8 times now I've lost count. One more thing respect to those who were out there pulling in, it's fkn mammoth. How big is it? My perspective, there's one looks about 10foot
I tow heaps and would never ever do what those guys are doing on the skies and the guy in the tinnie are you kidding me. Boat and jetski wakes just destroy the wave face for the paddle-in crew. So many other places they could have gone that would have been empty. Basic rule if guys are paddling it don't tow it. They would have a had a lesser impact doing step off's.
everyone commenting doesn't have a clue in the slightest... this is my home, i have surfed it like this many times and can tell you right now, the sweep is insane, the rogue sets even more so at times, ive paddled and taken it with skis and most of those waves are makable with ski assist. on days like this down here, ski and paddle etiquette doesnt really apply and most everyone knows eachother or already has a complete respect for the swell and the situation/location. You all think it's an overuse of mechanical watercraft but i can assure you when you are on that wave and you are freight training into those jagged rocks and the giant headland you definitely appreciate being launched into those sets, that place doesnt discriminate when its doing its thing. its normal to see skis out doing whips or step offs when its oversize on the opens and exposed locations. stop acting like you know everything and enjoy the video. the swell was awesome, i was further south scoring as well. Autumn and Winter down here really is something else 🙏🏽 we are so blessed 🏄🏽♂️😎
@YeetMusic it's a wild place man. I use to sit out there with a mate, maybe 2 😅 things have changed alot. But we are all still just as stoked and vibing anyway. No quarrels on days like this 🙏🏽💣
water safety in these conditions and ski assist to drop back to the spot is definitely worthwile. i sat there on the cliff for an hour yesterday watching some sick waves get surfed before copping a fin chop first wave at lennox that landed me 5 stitches in my foot. Spewing
There is a rock face infront which you can see in the video, so i guess it helps them get away from there when they get too close.. but yeah maybe a little over use of the ski?
Guy gets towed in on a paddle day, then proceeds to dodge all of barrel sections LAME. I’d be pissed if I was paddling through all that wake chatter & gasoline fumes
definitely a couple of memorable tubes but lots of ‘dirty’ waves … Lots of close outs more kudos to the paddle ins !!! over the many VERY ORDINARY tow ins 🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱
Since when was surfing a team sport? If the chance arose, I would not hesitate to drop in on the cheats using artificial propulsion. Like the out of place kooks in Indo that get pushed into waves. If you didn't catch it yourself, it's not your wave. That said, if they show respect and stay out of the way of the real surfers, then good luck to them. Just don't risk my life or anyone else's. 😊
For everyone that's hating on the ski's ,let's be honest, they probably don't own a ski or have access to one, and are jealous. Yes it's not the biggest surf ever also it looks like they were running taxi for the paddle guys @4:40, so I don't think there were too many bad vibes between everyone out there, but I guess everyone likes to complain about stuff in the Internet 😂. Skateboarders about roller bladers, windsurfers hate kiters, kiters hate wingfoilers, motocross guys think the quad riders are gay, Meanwhile Surfers hate on longboarders, boogie boarders, foilers,Sup riders ,windsurfers ,kiters and other surfers! Enjoy the hostilities my friends!
While I'm a heftier gentleman than these folks, I'd have an easier time getting waves because I don't have balls of steel. But that's why I wouldn't be caught dead out there.
