I was thinking this was the worst F1 race I have ever seen . I kept watching thinking , "Somethings going to happen any second now " but nothing ever happened .
Simply an idiotic move, just like Magnussen's. Pro racing drivers should realize when to back off, given he was never going to get past without contact as he was too far back from the get-go.
Mag doesn't know when to be aggressive or not, especially given the track he is driving. I thought, given his statements earlier he had learned from his past, apparently he hasn't.
I was thinking for most of the race Magnussen or Ocon should have been " driver of the day " for being the only two drivers brave enough to at least attempt a pass .
The size of current F1 cars have outgrown the Monaco track . If this is best they can offer with the current regulations They should make Monaco a "One Off" spec race where all drivers race a lighter high performance racing coupe better suited to the narrow track . Use a car and engine manufacturer with no affiliation to F1 and all of the drivers would be in equal equipment for the only time during the season and end the "Car or Driver debate ". Hell Go Karts would be more exciting than this last race.was.
I earlier suggested a similar idea - making Monaco a “Throwback” race, with a specific era for each year’s “Throwback Spec,” e.g. a 1950’s version, the next year, a 60’s version etc - had originally considered using the original early 90s spec V10 turbo - but the safety risk and value of the actual cars would preclude that… but why not a “Feature Era” spec with modern safety features, etx. The cars could be auctioned off for charity, or even used for a pay driver series or whatever. I would also like to see a different scoring scheme for it, like match play v stroke play in golf; points for overtakes, points for laps led, maybe even a reverse grid start. The thing is, they’re not likely to bin the race because it’s a classic, but it’s always a snorefest because the new spec cars are akin to trash trucks lumbering about, if today’s race is any indication. I think there’d be lots of excitement for both fans and drivers to enjoy a race that features past spec cars on a track suitable for them, and a single Throwback Race is an opportunity to showcase the storied history of the sport, legendary drivers and teams who were once powerhouses of Motorsport, that now are backmarkers (looking at you, Williams). It only occurred to me after watching this abysmal performance - but I think there’s merit in the idea, especially given that it’s not going to be removed from the schedule, nor does anyone really enjoy the current situation. It’s the perfect race to showcase the legendary history of Motorsport Legends, and at least something interesting for both fans and drivers.
Used to be an Ocon fan and not one of Gasley. Now that they are together, they both show up very differently when contrasted one with the other. KMag was being KMag and he will always go for a gap regardless of the hazards and frankly, the expense Haas experiences for having such a driver is punishment enough. Perez was closing a gap he did not have to and like KMag, Sergio was doing his Sergio thing so I see the whole incident as bad boys behaving badly. Likewise, Nico has been around long enough and teammates with both and he should have just backed off for the inevitable calamity. Monaco has a way of punishing bad behavior all on its own and it is the last track stewards even need to issue a penalty for anything.
Well at least Perez managed to completely destroy the underside of his car this time before it was hoisted high into the air for the other teams to see .
Magnuson and ocon are idiots. Atleast Ocon admits his stupid move. Magnuson is trying to keep from being banned. Everything he said was bias. Magnuson should be banned! He has a dead potential incident in every race this yr
