I'm so sorry that happened to you and Madeline. It's horrific, angering, and sad and as women in a patriarchal society we are conditioned to just shrug it off, or reduce our traumatic experiences. We should feel okay speaking up when and if things happen, if we choose to do so. Because frankly as women we deserve respect and human decency. Period. I hope you both are well.
I used to be low key disgusted by the idea of thrifting as it’s really looked down upon in my immigrant parents culture. You genuinely inspired me to try it. And oh my fucking god it was so much fun. I am 100% in love with it.
Yeah. I’m so glad that it has become more popular because there are people that really do need it and can’t afford anything else and no one should be made fun of or looked down upon for that. I love thrifting but unfortunately I don’t have thrift stores near me. 😭
I live in Buffalo, roughly 2 miles from that attack you spoke of. I am also a 1st grade teacher. I had to have a talk with my kids about the attack and how it was hate motivated. My 6 and 7 year old babies said they were “disgusted” and asked me if their black friends would have been killed. My heart is shattered. I answered all their questions and tried to assure them I’d keep them as safe as I could, but my coworkers and I just keep talking about escape routes and other safety concerns. All I can do is love them, encourage kindness/acceptance, and pray.

Oh my gosh, I hate that that happened to you. It's so upsetting that harassment is normalized and shrugged off. We should not minimize our experiences to accommodate other people's feelings of discomfort about reality. Those type of people always escalate and it can just be so stressful and scary and it doesn't have to be this way. Stay safe and well. On a positive note, the thrift haul was great! 😊

Sorry that happened to you! When my husband and I went to Ottawa, we were accosted on 2 different days by crazy guys, and the weird thing is that just to look at these people--they looked normal, were dressed normally, didn't look homeless or anything. One guy accused my husband of pushing him and said he was gonna call the cops--I said, "Please do bc we didn't do anything!" But we had to escape into a little Chinese grocery store and hunker in the back until the guy finally walked away (the owner wouldn't let him inside). And even then we snuck out the back door.
💯agree hun ,sorry you experienced that it’s so shitty ,people don’t realise sometimes that these crimes happen way to often !!untill it happens to them or a friend ,🙏🤗that your feeling better now hun ??💔there were 2 police officers from where I live who let’s just say we’re a little to invested in me and my underage sister ,🤬🤮,one late night walking home alone in the dark and I was accosted by them ,demanding I get in the car with them ,nobody was around and they were getting more angry and frustrating by the sec ,obviously wanted me to get in quietly before some one saw/heard ,I had the worst feeling in my gut ,I literally freaking ran ,in heels and a dress !!I used ally’s etc cars couldn’t go down ,I don’t know if they followed me and I don’t want to know,I was terrified because I absolutely knew if I got in that car nothing good was going to happen ,I also thought who’s going to believe me ??a trouble making (harmless ) girl ,!!??I should never had to worry about being attacked etc especially by people paid to up hold the law ,look after people and prevent crimes happening where poss 🤷♀️,thankfully they are no longer police men ,idkw but I’m just glad bc they should never have been in the positions they were 🤬💔😭,much 💜and stay safe from Joe(girl ) from 🇬🇧

Macy I saw a woman in the news who was physically attacked & kicked by 3 men in my neighborhood at 9 pm. It was unheard of after living here 15 years now. This community is family oriented with blue & white collar workers. People watched & were taking videos of it. I saw one man pull one of the guys to stop him. These low lives did not look familiar..luckily they were caught. The poor woman was 37 years old & had injuries. About one week ago I felt I was followed on the way to work during rush hour. My vibes told me to stop & hold my pepper spray in my hands which was given to me by my hubby. I waited by the station booth & where other people were. He looked straight at me & I looked right at him. He disappeared & nothing happened to me. I know exactly what you mean in your statements. Its disgusting & I'm sorry you ladies went through that. Its all about survival & Im looking into self defense tips via youtube. We have to protect ourselves & follow your vibes

Also ,there used to be mental health care ,clinics and hospitals and housing for patients who needs supervised care. We all have our baggage , 🧳 😢 😪 other then making sure we are safe in a situation like that ,just remember we should also have compassion for each other. I'm so sorry you were attacked. That's absolutely awful. I think we minimize traumatic experiences 1: because we as women are conditioned to and 2: for self preservation. If we let the true awfulness of our experiences sink in, it can fuck us up, so our monkey hind brain goes "nope not dealing with that"

I've been car jacked which was horrible but also robbed in the streets walking my baby in his stroller which made that time so bad because I wasn't scared for myself but for my child and when you said we shouldn't be made to feel like we have to minimize our trauma because from the police to my ex and even family members that's how everyone made me feel like but did you die? And no thankfully but still my peace was violated the fact that I can't go for a walk or even drive my car without having to be low key scared and on guard always it's just exhausting, I'm sorry that happened to you guys.

I kept a diary for almost a year when my mother thought it was her right to read my stuff..well yup she broke it to read it and when I got home from school.. I'm not even in yet my bookbag still in my hand... didnt even have time to react it was a full on assault first the diary comes through the air just missing my head ... then my mother came at me punched me in the face and said burn that fucking thing so I went out back to the burn pit and removed every page along with every true fact that came out of our house...wasn't the first time I was punched in the face by my mother.im sorry but I needed to say it or write it to feel real you know..I don't need haters or sympathy. Don't hate me on this but as much as disgusting things happen to women, it also occurs amongst men. Regardless, in a society we all live in now is becoming less of ourselves. I understand that there are things that happens that trigger the issue. I hope that people understand what affects ourselves also affects others too. There is nothing wrong in getting help.
yes it happens to men, but in a video discussing SA on two women is not the place to bring it up. Women are disproportionately affected by SA at much higher rates by men, so while it occurs amongst men, it’s not really comparable.
@@brill34536 It's alarming that when SA occurs, not enough people stress it of how uncomfortable it is. Hence, why Macy brought this point in the video. It should be reported to police, even one feels like useles tactic.
