I love Hugh's transition from artificial happiness (acting overly theatrical to his fictional audience), to melancholy (from being bitter that it's taken this long to be recognized), to cynicism (mocking the entire ceremonial event), to finally having a genuine moment of self reflection (remembering what should matter most to him). That last bit of Hugh smoothing out the eye wrinkles and his hair makes this monologue almost bittersweet - it subtly hints the character Hugh is playing still feels insecure and worries over what others think of him, even after his moment of authenticity.
I want to know everything about this man, his childhood, how he got his first acting gig, what happened after, I want to know if he deserves this award and if he gets it, I want to know what his wife and kids think about him. Can this be a film??? I'm prepared to follow wherever Hugh Dancy takes us to.
Hugh is the perfect actor. He showed so many different emotions in one short video. He has such a mobile facial expression, his acting is fascinating. Great!🥰😍🤩
This beautifully portraits what WOW is. It's the unexpected things that happen to us in our lives. It presents when we are the least of expecting it to happen. In my own perspective, I'm seeing how all the emotions come in once. Anger, madness, happiness, sad, love, chaotic. All in one moment. At first, it's the pure surprise feelings. And then, it evolves to some sort of appreciation to the people that he think contributes to his success , which then peaks to a feeling where "I fought for this, you don't deserve my thanks". Then, it slows down to a pure appreciation to his beloved (the moment he said ily for his wife). Anyway, beautiful monologue played by Hugh Dancy. Great work #24hourplays !
