karen Peters Your so right those kids will never forget this experience. She is a superstar. When the girl in yellow smiled at her touched my heart. What a powerful performance
8:35 for those students to present the haka to Hugh and Keala; that is so powerful. You see how it affected Keala! I think one of her parents is Maori...I think. Either way, the haka is SUCH a powerful and moving thing. I hope to live a life such that someone chooses to offer a haka at my funeral.
Kiwis are very subtle when it comes to celebrities, most preferring to keep it low key. It’s a very humble nation generally hence the shock the nation has received. The Haka was designed to reflect the many polynesian nations involved, some accepted for females and others for males only. This was a very gentle version of the various islands involved and I must say beautifully done! Gosh I miss the country big time, Kia kaha guys, this too shall pass yet Jack and Keala are some wonderful people I would want on my door step singing at me! Bloody brilliance 🤙🤗
Well said, I missed living Christchurch Southern island, move to US in 1995 and always want go back. I learn everything from Maori way doing things, and hope soon I will going back to my home town again. Love to be kiwi.
@@sjanientjuh01 Kia Ora means hello in Maori the New Zealand natives, Talofa means hello in Samoan. The Maori and Samoans are Polynesian peoples related to the Hawaiians.
For real!!! To here him greet everyone in Maori and Samoan and too cool!!! Especially being Samoan myself Talofa lava to all my Polynesian people!!! One Ocean One people!
How wonderful was that gift!? I knew he was, kind, humorous, playful, and funny; but I never realized just how talented he is. Ke’ala is a totally awesome human being. She is special and incredibly, incredibly talented and gorgeous. Stay safe!
This is so amazing!!! So proud of our fellow people of the Pacific showcasing their amazing talent - even better yet with the artists themselves. Hugh is an awesome actor, and an even a great singer! Much love from Brisbane Australia ♥️ xoxo
She, Keala is so sweet and has an amazing voice and Hugh a phenomenal talent across the board is always so open and unafraid to show his emotions and THAT CHOIR WOW WOW WOW Thankyou for this upload, bless you.
Kia Ora! For Hugh and Keala and all the students and staff who made this possible, big thanks - and also, for the people sharing this beautiful, emotional footage.
This performance by all is more than words can convey. I am so grateful for their collective hearts and talents 🙏❤ Hugh and Keala are magnificent people. Such heros. I am so grateful.
Me at the beginning: I know they're gonna sing it together and I'm ready for it! Hugh and the choir finally singing together: I WASN'T READY FOR IT Kealla and the choir singing "this is me": I SAID I WASN'T READY FOR IT
Growing up as Polynesian,we didn't take much notice of the singing at church when we were younger,i would love to hear these kids adapt that style, those tones, the harmonies as well.
I've watched the movie dozens of times. It's really neat to see how it's affected people around the world and to see those talented wonderful kids. Great.
This is me is always bringing me too tears but I got such a big goosebumps when the students performed (haka? Hope it's right, got it from the comments). Their emotions were so strong. One of my favorite group/ choir performance of all!
there are heroes in life, I am not talking about soldiers or fire men or the likes, but heroes like Hugh, you can tell he has a heart and loves and respects his peers, if i had to be any celeb i would choose to be him
We are "Naki" , the 'ohana descended from Nakiwahine, from Kahiki, Ali'i wife of Kawelo'aikanaka, Mo'i of Kaua'i in 1680. We now we trace104 generations back to La'amaikahiki, Kumuhonua and Creation. 2500 years. Mahalo cousins, I was looking for us----Naki'i Hawaiian Music and I found Keala and You at a time when we humbly recognize those powerful invisible bonds of eternal kinship which pull our wa'a through everything with which Creator challenges us. On this end of 'anuenue or the other we will kanikapila together one day. What a blessed life we live! Imua! Ke Akua pu.
