Hugh Jackman thanks swings/understudies, Music Man curtain call 12-23-21 

This is the essence of The THEATRE...no better feeling than a GREAT curtain call....brilliant..brilliant..brilliant...job EVERYONE.

Not one single person in that audience will ever forget that night. Bravo…

And then on Monday, Come From Away had to come and blow this away completely by having the entire female parts having to be taken by swings, including a couple by people from the touring company who were just in town for the holiday, plus several of the male swings. 8 total swings in all performing at once. And someone who was just signed as the understudy for Glinda in Wicked 2 weeks ago had to go on the other night. Broadway right now is surviving because of the brilliance and sheer talent of these incredible artists and they cannot be praised nearly enough. Kathy Voytko started it and she did it brilliantly. But we are now seeing what everyone in the community theater has known -- they are the backbone, the heart and soul of Broadway. And it's great to see them getting their time in the spotlight.

And now I LOVE JACK even more. As if that’s possible!! Class act!

I'm sure when the audience walked into the lobby and saw the cast board on the wall with "the part of Marian at this performance will be played by Kathy Voytko" " they were mad knowing they had paid for Sutton Foster. This made it all worth it to witness this. How kind of Hugh to do this. I hope this makes her career take off!

Hugh Jackman, such a great Australian and such great words. My daughter is a swing with Harry Potter on the London West End, she has had to learn 9 different roles. To all those who look down on understudies and swings, have you forgotten that the big star you admire so much was also an understudy and swing many years ago?

I was there on Thursday! What a class act! He's fantastic to highlight Kathy and to give credit to all the other swings, while giving a nod to Sutton. Graciousness and leadership!

What a beautiful and gracious thing to do. Jackman is not only remarkably talented, but he seems to be an extraordinary human being. I don't remember any time I saw an understudy take on a leading role...but I do remember the night in 1976 when the announcer said "at this performance the role of Roxy Hart will be played by Liza Minnelli!" I wasn't disappointed...

One of my dreams to be on Broadway and to be an understudy!!! The ultimate superheroes this industry needs!!!!

I had heard for years how gracious and kind Hugh Jackman is, but this demonstrates that generosity. I know how hard understudies and swings work, and it is this type of affirmation that validates their career choice.

Every member of any corporate management team should view this, and practice the level of recognition for the "troops" that Mr. Jackman demonstrated at this show! His talent is well known. His leadership skills, perhaps less known, until now. His understanding of the importance of recognizing the role of others in an organization and the importance of saying thank you is on display.

Wow, that is the epitome of grace and class!

I'm sure this was an extremely nerve-wracking night for Kathy. What luck for her that she was playing opposite a performer who is so kind, generous, and humble. It is good to see people lift others up rather than tear them down. Best of luck to Kathy in her future career!

I can watch this all day long... and every single time I watched it, since yesterday, I cry. What an example of dedication and love for the theatre of the swings and understudies, and another example of humility and generosity of Hugh. Without any doubt he's one of the great stars of the stage, and one of the kindest and more generous

I watched understudies perform Hamilton and Burr in the 1-30 matinee of Hamilton. Those men were absolutely amazing and Hugh is so right. I have been a fan of Hugh's for a long time. This makes me love him even more

Classy words, from a class act!

My wife and I saw Come From Away on 12/26. 8 of 12 cast members were swing/understudies. It was amazing and I felt so blessed to 1)be able to see a Broadway show 2)to witness this unprecedented show and the amazing talent that it took to make it happen. Shout out to Hugh Jackman for using his platform to praise these talented artists.

I love that he knew how many tracks Kathy swings for (8). It's not like it's an standard number (he said UP TO 10). It's one of those details that lets you know he's paying attention.

To me, Kathy looked humbled and humiliated the way praised Kathy for filling in for Sutton as Marian. I said the previous sentence, because when Hugh said that one of Kathy’s tracks happens to be the lead, Kathy covered her eyes with her hands, as if she were to say “Aw Shucks! Oh Stop!”. Hugh even had the other swings step forward & take their bows too. Congratulations Kathy for, I’m sure, doing an amazing job for playing Marian! I wish Kathy & the other swings, understudies and chorus of that show the best of luck in their musical theatre careers, or whatever their future endeavors.
