it was actually a dream come true when i found out that jesse and jennifer were really dating irl. i totally ship those two in house but WHY THE HELL DID THEY BROke up??? they would make such cute babies!! XD
I find it quite weird that people didn't know that High Laurie was British. Over here Hugh is one of our biggest comedy stars. He does a damn good job on House though, and it happens to be the only hospital based programme I like aside from Scrubs.
something I always loved and laughed at when I watched the first season was that hugh, as house, always made fun of chase for being british when he was actually british. My favourite joke: 'You have the Queen on your money, you're British' lol.
He made fun of him for being aussie, i don't remember him making fun of him for being a brit that much (aside from the occassion you mentioned 11 years ago)

It's so funny reading the comments - you realize really how good an sctor Hugh is since so many people never noticed he was British. He's awesome and Jen&Jesse look so cute together, it's a shame they broke up.

What English 'originally' used to be about four other languages. If you mean Middle English, or perhaps even Old English, then I suppose you could argue that the American accent has a slight Dutch ring to it sometimes, in which case you would be sort of correct, but American as a language is still very similar to Modern English, there are actually just semantic differences, which people who aren't really qualified or smart enough to have an opinion about, seem to have very strong opinions about.

I never new he spoke w/ a British accent in real life...Actually way back when the show started years ago , I have a slight recollection of reading about it somewhere...I guess I forgot...I'm a bit shocked, although in hindsight, I guess I could always hear that that that was something "neutral/off/odd" about his American accent. U live , u learn...
London, my arse! He has the posh English accent of somebody who went to a "public" school (= private in the UK)- Eton, in fact, one of the most exclusive. Though he has toned it down quite a bit. It is not fashionable to sound too posh these days in the UK. London does have the "Cockney" working class accent - nothing like his.
So what if hugh laurie is british. i live in england and remember him in blackadder. does it really matter that his a british person playing an american if he can pull off the accent? ( which he obviously can ).
No such thing as a 'British' accent, he has an English accent. Britain does contain other countries as well as England (Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales).
Who cares? He's a good guy. True to himself. Although I will admit that when he's on British TV his accent is a little more high-pitched and emotive. Still, gotta admire him.
