The Fleein' Cray is not your traditional crayfish pattern. Instead of being tied with lead, this fly uses a trimmed head to achieve dig and an erratic swim action.

Thanks a ton guys. After watching the first zoom, and attending James' class, it is so awesome to be able to reference this video to refresh my memory while I am tying at home!

You mention the D&D is a good foundation to build from. Really impressed with your vision on creating a new fly platform. You have done your research and development.

Wicked fly. This pattern is one of the rare ones that are changing the way I conceptualize fly tying and warm water patterns. Nicely done, thank you.

Awesome action packed pattern. I will definitely have to give it a go here someday soon.

Have noticed smallies have blue hue around gills when I have landed them and crayfish around spot on shell, too. My guess is minnow have the same. I noticed you added blue to the fleein' platform. Is this your reasoning for blue tint added to minnow and cray as an additional trigger to take fly?

What the purpose of the lead keel? Do you find the keel reduces hook ups as the hook can't turn or go as deep in the fishes jaw?

The keel keeps your fly oriented correctly, which helps it to swim, and keeps it riding at the correct depth. We haven't had problems with hook penetration.

Once you add a rattle, that lings a lure, not a fly, IMO. Nice tie though

The line is blurring these days. However, if it's tied with thread, we consider it a fly.
