Hugo plays so many tournaments, I wonder how much time he has to train and prepare for the next world tour? I work in mental health and his body language in this match shows signs of burnout; the constant traveling, the exhausting physical demands, playing on different tables and different weathers, can all have an impact. Good luck Hugo. I would love to see you win. What nobody can take away from you, is that you are the best talent that has ever come out of the America's.
His opponent uses short pips which has much more variation than a long pip chopper. Calderano had to read alot more balls than if the spin was just reversing.
This is his problem all the time.. even when you watch him play against other offensive players, he loses so many points due to unforced errors or wrong shot selection. Watching him play against any chopper is just shining a spotlight on this problem. I'm not at all surprised that he lost.
Dear WTT, frame rate is painfully low in these videos. It's a hiccup match. The "day's highlights" videos are better, though, can you upload the whole matches with the same quality?
@@formarce he has so many strengths, but my criticism of his overall game is that he tries to go for too many big winners, and then makes many unforced errors.
If Hugo Calderano loses to someone, he almost always loses to himself, because always the player who defeated Hugo immediately loses in the next game. Hugo's problem is that he is not able to easily defeat opponents, he constantly suffers with players who can be defeated 3-0, he constantly creates problems for himself, and therefore he loses to himself. And he doesn't know how to play against defenders. The matches in which Hugo lost Geraldo, Falck, Gauzy, Togami and many others, all these defeats are based only on the fact that Hugo loses to himself + he has a very weak psychology. It's a pity to look at all this, that he can't realize his full potential. I'm very upset about this. But what can I do? Hugo needs a psychologist, otherwise he will continue to lose to himself
@@reinaldopessoa2603 Agreed, considering the level we have seen him play at, we know he has the potential, but he needs to clean up his game. When he's ON, it looks really good, but he doesn't have a stable control game to fall back on, it's always about big shots, more power, more speed with him. He needs to let opponent make mistakes sometimes too... if he makes all the mistakes in the game, then of course he loses!
not even major, for someone so powerful I don't think I've ever seen hugo beat a chopper before, and don't bring up his top 5 rating Hugo is clearly overrated, until he proves himself he is top 20 at best.
i love watching different playing styles i think rules or equipment should be changed to make game have various styles(defender ,penhold ,hitter ) with no dominant one
Yang Wang plays new modern style of defenders. He defend by backhand chope from his backhand side, but he tries to play forehand topspin in his forehand side in anhy opportunities. It shows that the style is very effective !

Hugo Calderon mainnya tergesa gesa kurang sabar utk mengatur ritme permainan bila bertemu pemain bertahan seperti Wang sabar mengambil momen momen tepat utk melakukan serangan
Yang hides the racket below the table intermittently makes it very tricky to play against. You don't know which side of the rubber he is using thus gains him the "unfair" advantage.
Lately Hugo seems to be suffering instead of enjoying his game. He needs to go back to his "TT jogo bonito" that started him and made him famous .......... then he'll start winning again!
I'm sure everybody noticed that Hugo most of the time looses to Calderano. Unless Colderano because of traveling didn't get enough sleep. Then he get destroyed by Hugo. But that's rarely. Unfortunately today was the day. Crazy..
That is some of the most beautiful attacks against chopped balls. Kind of unfair how all the pressure in the game falls into the other player when a chopper is in the field. It takes the best player to beat average or above average chopper. There needs to be something to even the field.
@kenji2787 I think @Calvinaytch is giving you the benefit of the doubt by suggesting you might be joking. Otherwise, your comment doesn't make sense because only a small proportion of top players are choppers. If they had an unfair advantage there'd be loads more of them than there are.
What an ass of an assumption. Where do you get this correlation? There’re low number of choppers at ANY level. The number of choppers are low because it’s a god damn boring play style to most people. Can you imagine many matches with chopper vs chopper? They’d lose the few viewers they have left. Their advantage only becomes nonexistent when a player achieves perfection like FZD and MaLong. Even world class players (top 5-15) don’t achieve that. .
