Hugo was definitely the best man to be cast as Treguard. I met him at Knightmare Convention in 2014. He is such a lovely bloke, as is Lord Fear too (Mark Knight).
It was 20 years ago this month when Challenge TV had a Classic Cult Selection for Christmas and Knightmare series 3 was on it! Recorded all the episodes on VHS during the new year and by Christmas 2004, had the complete series! That's how much of a fan I am!
I think the Knightmare cast and crew did a great job, given what kind of technology was available to them at the time. So much more is capable today, but sadly I think the willingness to do it is severely lacking. People would rather watch crap like "Love Island" or "Saturday night takeaway" and other trash reality TV programmes.
It's fallen into the realms of "Shows we can't do today" I'm afraid. I tried introducing a friend's 11 year old to Knightmare and I'd never seen her look so bored in all my life! 😢 To think, this game was created as a wholly original unique fantasy concept before Harry Potter was out and when your average person had never even heard of video games. Plus it would be too hard! Kids now want something "quick" and "easy" rather than a slow-burn which gradually unfolds through progression. Plus I wouldn't be prepared to deal with parents blowing up in my face just because their little Simon or Abigail "didn't win".
@@natalyafisher2571 I'm not too sure about that. I mean kids these days still play D&D in droves. Even if they tried it for a single series to test the waters.
