I basically did the exact same thing to mine when it first came out 3 years ago and I did a comparison video between it, the Diecast Masters, and the Double E (with and without upgrades). The huina gives you more bang for your buck for certain. BTW sand is the killer of all these RC machines; it gets inside of everything and wears out the gears (just like in the real world).
Gotcha about where I set it . I moved the battery from where it was and on the side of the huina that shows where the access door is . I made it into a real access door cut the piece out and hinged it . Much better battery spot..I hate when they put batteries on the bottom. It just irritates the shit out of me for some reason
For my blade upgrade I used a strip of colorbond roofing material..very strong and cuts in hard .took a bit to get it shaped in but works great...used Selleys Araldite glue ...also used HO code 100 model rail track cut into segments and shoe glued it into every second trackplate...21 for each track and it bites in better...also cut a metal flat plate to fit in between the tracks on the base of the model to add extra weight...painted all the black plastic undercarriage yellow...and the track and blade silver enamel and custom made CAT emblems to go over Huina ones ..It works surprisingly well and looks much more realistic....for an exceptionally cheap R/C dozer...first love in HO model rail but this type of R/C is also huge fun....great distraction from Model rail ... cheers...
I also hate that the Chinese insist on putting the on/off switch on the bottom of many machines where it gets filled with dirt and you gotta pick up the machine to access it. I always move the on/off switch to the side top. @@briangrubb5481
If have the diecast master also and not feeling it for what I had hoped for but that particular dozer is modeled from a pipeline dozer bc its compact but it's more of a final grade type dozer hints the tiny ass blade thats kinda pathetic how far up and down it has and the bs was the ripper was very dissapointing Ifeel I got bambuzled for sure on that one but it would do good spreading sand out or pea gravel for building a road . I know for sure a couple def not to buy bc that's already did and was disappointed . I bought 1:18 rock truck smaller than I figured and I come across one on ebay 1:16 that probably be ok bought it arrrived and same exact size as the 1:18. That stuck a little bit .. One came From China town and fibbed about the scale just a little bit.. ol shlfty eyed fuckers will tell you a lie in a heartbeat and then give no fks ...pretty positive they enjoy doing it .
