When I was 5, my parents and I were eating at an Outback steakhouse and Hulk sat about 4 tables away from us, no one really in the restaurant. I was a huge fan, wearing my pokemon shirt. I kept staring and my parents got mad at me. He beckoned me over, told me how much his son loved pokemon and named each one on my shirt, then signed my shirt and told me to never be shy or afraid of anything. I'll never forget that.

I feel like Hulk is the true pioneer of wrestling entertainment. There were stars before, but he really transcended the the sport. In the 80s/90s, it was Jordan, Hogan, Michael Jackson-in a different time, they were absolutely more well known than Jesus Christ.

Hulk Hogan was part of the cultural zeitgeist of 80s America. He's up there with 80s icons like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Mike Tyson, etc. Growing up in the Middle East during the 80s (Saudi Arabia), the first Americans I have heard of were Michael Jackson, Hulk Hogan, and Ronald Reagan.

Props to Hogan as well for letting down his guard a bit. I hope he knows there's plenty of us left in the world that still love the Hulkster and nothing would change that.
