The ending is not sad at all. The guy finally finds his true love and they live happily ever after. A very uplifting movie. Please watch it. Pyaasa is in the international list of top 100 movies of all time.
It is not a sad movie...it's a movie about what is wrong in society...and how a man eventually finds his station in society after a long and tiring struggle with a populace who are hell bent on using him....it's a must watch movie...at this age you may find it boring and even depressing but eventually you will realize that it's a real gem...all of Gurudutt's movies are...
It's not about age. It's about one's ability to analyse the text and in this case, you're definitely right. This film has several themes like love, selfishness of society and mankind, corruption, ills of man, etc. And it explores them very well in the context of a 1950s India.
Superb and highly melodious song doled out by rafiji n Geetha dutt ji.whose voice modulations are awesome without any comparison.handsome gurudutt ji n lovely malasinhaji make a good pair.
"Hum aapke kadmon par Gir jayen gash khakar Is par bhi na hum apne Anchal ki hawa den to..." How beautiful each stanza, what rendition by the singers...and what अदा mannerisms of the actors!!!
When you listen to these amazingly melodious songs and then look at today's music such as dhating naach or whatever crap, you can't help but wonder, what went wrong?
exactly, in those days the benchmark for quality required vocal quality of the likes of Rafi Saab & great composition by the likes of SD Burman, Madan Mohan etc for the song to be a hit. But in todays day & age we have Yo yo honey singh & Baby doll considered 'hit' songs. Im 27 & I can only say Indian music, lyrics & composition have truly regressed. If I want to listen to quality hindi music have to go back to the 50s 60s 'Golden era'
He wasn't handsome!! He was super handsome!! He looked what a real handsome man would look like and not glamorous only! Real and handsome is what I think he was!!
Rafi Sahab, S.D. Burman, Sahir - The holy trinity. This song is flawless. The music, the rendition and most importantly, the lyrics, especially in the context of the movie theme.
हम आपकी आँखों में - Hum Aapki Aankhon Mein (Md.Rafi, Geeta Dutt) Movie/Album: प्यासा (1957) Music By: एस.डी.बर्मन Lyrics By: साहिर लुधियानवी Performed By: मो.
No one would believe that Rafi saaab is the singer of Maalish song feom the same movie. He was such a master magician to change the texture of his voice for different actors and different moods. Just Bravo
Cannot also help mentioning the other other jewel of GD Saab - Sahib Bibi Ghulam one of the greatest works of Art and Music the world has ever seen….🙏🙏🙏

Singer Geeta dutt is so great , A legend and so very talented is the hero guru dutt.. I borned in early 90tz, but surrender to accept the very truth that there is no comparison of old movies, music and the artists. . hats off to bollywood. .

Sahir Ludhianvi is incomparable, peerless genius..He's the real creator. Then Rafi saheb's great voice and last but not the least Burman dada's composition..
beautiful.. heart touching..i was fed up with modern songs, i had started hating music but listening to these songs makes me understand what song actually is.. what lyrics mean and what talented and hardwork singers had to do.. today even Salman khan is singing songs 😂😂
Rafi sahab ko mera Salam Namashkar Sat Sat Naman Allah Hafiz hai Rafi sahab aap ne kitna sunder gaya hai Aap ne ji Salam Aadab Namashkar mahan singer Rafi Sahab
One of the greatest gentlest and most memorable and melodious compositions of SD Burman…….so many nostalgic memories of Vividh Bharati and Chaya Geet late night radio listening associated with this…. an incomparable composition and performance by Rafi and Geeta Dutt…..a thousand bows of grateful gratitude for this …..❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The greatest playback singers India has ever produced in order of superiority--1. Sandhya Mukherjee > 2. Geeta Dutt > 3. Lata Mangeshkar ...(my personal ranking, not based on crappy popularity..)
THE SONG IS TOUCHING MY HEART !!! It is very beautiful melody with great Lyrics and superb composition. Thank you so much for shared outstanding and marvelous RARE upload.
thanks 4 uploading this gem of a song..truely dutt saaheb lived a gem's life..unfortunately as they say it takes a true jeweller to identify a true gem..himself a gem and jeweller, both , dutt saaheb was a bit of sun-like bright and there were no jewellers , who could not take this gem for faceting..
The feeling of alluring , pure, subtle simple love is present in this song. Can't be replaced or made any other irreplaceable altogether a song which feels like heaven
So I was at this conference last week and during the social evening at the end, we decided to dance. I like the slow Waltz and I love this song, absolute masterpiece. So I sang along trying to dance with this girl who after a few steps told me this is not the Waltz. Mind blown. I always assumed it was a Waltz
@ adwarkanath That must have been quite a rude young lady..should she even be called a lady? Lol. A Waltz has three clear beats...1-2-3. This song has very clear 3 beats. You were correct and one can easily dance a waltz to it.
I've got a question. I'm 13 years old, and I want to see this movie. Is it melancholy and stuff? I know I'll end up watching it eventually, I'm just not in the mood for sad movies now. (And I also think Guru Dutt is cute.
Mala Sinha truly LOOKS deserving when she answers ISPA R BHI NA ... >>>>>!!! GREATEST EVER DREAM SEQ SHOT......!!! Guru & Goldie( VIJAY ANAND) were best in direction & especially song picturisation....!!!!
this is classy..............way ahead of its time....evergreen....in black & white.....& a beautiful lovely romantic song......the best a man & woman can go HIGH & highest
Lost my train of thoughts past 2- 3 days. What a feeling when you used to listen this song a ton times and then u had a senior moment and eventually u remember. (Sep 2018)
This song was not there in the original film, was added after distributors advised Guru Dutt to add feel good elements considering commercial point of view.
Very classy and melodious song. Someone should experiment bringing these kinds of songs back in movies. I am sure they will have superhit on their hands and who knows it might be a catalyst for these kinds of songs to make a comeback.
Recently i read a biography of Guru Dutt by Nasrin Munni Kabit, and its full of information about Guru Dutt, He was a legend of an Indian Film Industry (Bollywood)
