This video is from a vintage movie Daag (1952).Filmfare Awards were introduced with effect from the films released during the year 1952. Dilip Kumar was awarded his first Filmfare award for being the Best Actor for his role in this film. In short, he was nominated for the best actor award for a record 19 times and actually received it for a record 8 times. Much later,it was Shahrukh Khan who equalled his record for best actor's award. Film Daag (1952) had highlighted the problem of youth's addiction to hard liqour. In this film, he is a young graduate who is jobless.He belongs to a lower middle class family. He takes to the escape route of hitting the bottle to avoid his frustrations. This video shows him singing this very emotional song at a tavern while his old Mother (actress Lalita Pawar) is facing acute heart pain at home. Poet Hasrat Jaipuri had compiled this beautiful lyric while music directors team of Shankar- Jaikishan had composed its brilliant soundtrack. Fortunately, the video of this 72 years old film is highly sharp & bright. Please watch it on enlarged screen using headphone to feel its maximum audiovisual impact. Dilip Kumar's real age in this video was 29 years.Famous Producer- director Bimal Roy was highly impressed with his acting of an addict that he made up his mind to engage him as hero of his memorable classic film Devdas (1955).
