Uff, I've never been more frustrated and irritated by a movie in my life. I ADORE every single movie I've seen from Bhansali, but I'm sorry, as a young Spanish guy watching this movie for the first time in 2023, I kind of hate it 😂 Incredible music, dance and cinematography. Some really nice moments, but OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL WHAT THEY WERE SMOKING TO LET SALMAN ACT LIKE THAT??!! He's ridiculously bad in this 😂😂😂😂😂😂 And the Italian portion of the movie is SO BAD that it ended obliterating whatever kind of enjoyment I was having with some aspects of the movie. It felt like they dropped an atomic cringe bomb. At least I can say that it was an unforgettable experience watching this 😅

I hated so many things of this movie especially about how "the parents know best" concept of it. Salman's character wasn't even a bad husband the father just decides he doesn't like him and forces his daughter to marry another "kind and poor man"

Great movie to react to! Salman is always seen talking to his father who is dead, I guess it was just a way to show how much he misses his dad that even though he's no longer alive, and besides that he's supposed to be a fun, quirky guy. I've seen this movie several times and understand the confusion with the whole slapping and apologizing scene. The way I see it is that salman was trying to apologize for messing up the picture and in that he got a little touchy with her to and I feel like she slapped him mostly because she was mad, and because she didn't want anyone to see them because of her family, not because she didn't like him touching her. Which is why she immediately runs after him. There wasn't any ill intent and she didn't mind her touching him but in the heat of the moment she slapped him which is why she felt bad. I get it can look bad but I don't think Sanjay leela bhansali was trying to make it seem like it was a matter of consent. I do think the "i got punished for her hitting you" was weird. Usually most people really like Salman's character in this movie so maybe you just have to see it through.

Honestly guys, Bhansali is brilliant at creating stunning visuals and scaling up the dramatical stakes. And that has built him up in people's minds as some kind of storytelling genius. But the emotional core of all his movies and plots, esp the relationship dynamics, tends to be pretty gaudy and imbecilic. Emo porn. Titilating and arousing in a totally de-humanized, unrealistic way. Korbin's first impression of Devdas is the level/quality Bhansali actually is, IMO.

Salman’s character was the weakest element of the film for me. Firstly, it’s clear that he couldn’t separate his real life persona from this on screen character. Secondly, I think SLB wanted a stark contrast to the character of Ajay. But Salman takes it far too OTT. But I love this film, especially for its 2nd half. Aishwarya, Ajay, the music, SLB’s direction 👌

The thing is that beginning of their love story seems dated coz it’s supposed to be innocent young love, like almost teen love, but since they are played by older actors it seems odd. It’s also why salman is acting goofy and aish is doing some over acting. Plus the style and jokes are dated so it does seem a bit strange but this movie would have been huge if social media existed back then.
